I've read all of tgcf and I find the finishing vol 1 and then never starting vol 2 so relatable sjkdgh I always have to force myself to get past that slump, but I do personally believe tgcf is worth a read. From what I remember, I never really got to a point where I got bored of what was happening or that i felt something got dragged on for too long, even when the focus was on side characters (i even got more invested in some of the side characters that the main ones, which i'd say is kinda impressive). iirc, vol 2 is one of the ones where I was maybe least invested in what was going on? since it was primarly set in the past it was a bit of a switch up. I know you said that you didn't really want to do the 'okay, ill read it and then maybe give vol 3 a chance', but i really do think that if you finish vol 2 and still think 'i really do want to continue reading' it's worth giving a try, because imo it only gets better and better. i really hope this is coherent, i kinda word vomited sdjg
This is really helpful! I think I want to try at least finishing the first 1 or 2 chapters before fully giving up on reading it but it's not a super high priority which is why I keep putting it off 😅 But knowing a little more of what to expect going in actually helps me know what mood I need to be in to start it now. Thank you so much!
Oh my! I've read exactly 3 volumes of The King's Beast and so far loved it, but now I'm very concerned since I have certain plot-elements that I have a zero tolerance for. D,X Could you so kindly spoil it for me regarding what parts felt icky?
So there were 2 mains reasons I stopped reading, one of them being the one that felt icky which I'll put below: There's basically a scene where the female lead gets SAed but afterwards they get along with the guy who did it like nothing really happened? I just think topics like that deserve to be treated with more respect so it put me off the series quite a lot It's such a shame because the setting and main plot as well as the dynamic between the main couple had so much potential TT
Everyone should be proud of me for actually unhauling things :D
