Thanks, just the breakdown I was searching out. I'll never forget hearing my teacher playing samba 35 yrs. Ago and remember thinking-"wow thats the coolest thing I ever heard"
There're some many ways to play a samba groove, I think this is pretty good to show the basic form and it's your goal in this video. I've saw a lot of videos that are too far from brazilian music, your job is great, keep drumming! huges from Brasil!
Very Good Indeed. As a Brasilian Drummer I have to congratulate you for the breakdown you did at the rythm, making it more rational. For us it's very natural to have that pulse inside of you and I had to come to youtube to breakdown the tempo to teach it for a friend of mine. I've never figured it out the division you've made at the snare....I just do it without understanding LOL
@@kidzbop38isstraightfire92 like a brazilian i don't know how to make samba, the samba just came to me like a natural thing, i feel the same thing that Bruno Januzzi fells, if you quest for me how to play i don't know to teach
@@otavioilibio again, just stop with the "it just came to me" bullshit. No one cares and you aren't impressing anybody. Brazilians aren't special when it comes to music or dance. And nobody wants you to teach them anything.
@@kidzbop38isstraightfire92 Relax, mad kid. You don't need to hate Brazilians. I am brazilian and what they call "pulse" is just about doing it with more ease because that's our culture. We see those beats and rythms everywhere so it's easier to replicate when they are learning to play.

@@natefreedman2972 Sincerely, I am not criricizing. He sounds good but when a Brazilian plays it's different, it's hard to describe but you can notice when the Samba is being played by a foreigner. I play middle eastern rythms but not as Arabs do. I hope this explains. 😇
Thank you for the lesson.. It helps me due to I was looking for real samba pattern on my left hand and found this "Partido Alto".. I was playing before using "clave" on my left hand when my friends said I was doing it wrong.. Thank you again and keep up the good work..
Wow 10 years ago. Thank you for this video! Its very helpful I can't help but notice you play ur bass drum heel down. I'm a heel down fan, but sooooo many drummers recommend heel up. How's heel down for you? Are you able to play loud without getting too tired and for longer hours as well? Does it all boil down to practice basically?
Just depends what you’re doing really - if you need a sharp, short ‘chick’ sound heel up works well because the weight of the leg keeps the hats closed tighter, but heel down is good for lighter playing where you might want to splash the hats with the foot pedal for an open sound.
Hi Sacha. I was referring earlier to your right foot samba pattern on the bass. Do you always have full heel down for that, and does it get fatiguing?. Thank you-
It's pretty straight forward. You just start practing the bass drum pattern at a slow tempo and progressively go a little faster and faster. If you do it for a week or so you'll already notice you get a lot faster. I would make sure to use a metronome when you do it as well.
Just a question bro. Are you from New Zealand? and if so, which part as I am looking at taking drum lessons but I live in Hamilton. Be great to learn from you!
I play blast, beats and fast double bass and all kinds of crazy hard beats and this thing I cant get under control.Thats why I enrolled in Jazz drums university so I can add this style, but its gonna be hard i know it.
That is cool that you are adding to your musical vocabulary. I would feel the same way learning blast beats. Yes, it's going to be uncomfortable at first but hang in there.

Took me almost a week to get this jeze it's hard. Used to basic rock beats

its more like dancing than math and then its math
That's good. Growth is really important. You'll find you rock playing more solid with this under your hands
me too bro. how long do you play?

5 years ago I hated the ride cymbal you’re using. Now I would use it till it look like a chewed up dog frisbee, I love it.
Excellent tutorial!!! You are a great player and communicator.
Thank you. You speak very clearly and understandable to non-English speakers. Great lesson.

Trying to expand my horizons so to speak, or more like sunset in my case.
Great job breaking it down and I'm sure it's gonna make me a better drummer.
so sick. one of my favorite rhythms
Thanks, really good breakdown of everything. Much appreciated, such a great rhythm and feel....
Thanks! You explain very well.👌👏
this is so sick
I really enjoy drums. :D
Philla Lebbasro me too !!
Great video and great playing.
Just a Brazilian passing by to check foreigners attempts on Samba 😂
Do you approve? xD

Awesome. Great to see this.

Great video! Thank you so much for the awesome lesson! Can't wait to practice this!
Good, very very good, congratulations . RIO DE JANEIRO - BRASIL.
Beautiful, i learned with your video, Thanks man from Perú.
Samba?!!!
Para poucos.
Não explique o que você não domina!!!
Samba é sangue.
É identidade!
porque os brasileiros sempre acham que os gringos nao pode tocar samba ?? musica e por tudo mundo !!
Yes, I did enjoy your video thank you. I like your drumming.
Very well explained!

this reminds me so much of "break on through (to the other side)" by the doors, and some parts of "light my fire" john denzmore loved these rythms
Hard...
Hungarian folk patterns are also complex (and beautiful).
thank you very much
Wow nice
Onde tem samba aí?!!
Too mechanic…
Very, very well done. Thanks much.

very thanks
NANIGO thankyou please
Excellent explanation.
That bass drum. Sounds wonderful. Just like steve Gadd I think. Is there anything inside it?
Great Video! Very informative, Thanks!!!!
Thank you!

❤Fantastic!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🥁
Dam, that took me a few minutes but I finally got it. Cool using the cowbell with this. Thanks for the post...
Just be careful using a cowbell in Samba. As it is not a traditional instrument in that style. You might get some weird looks playing That on a gig.
Thanks for the lesson
Thank YOU clear and simple!
감사합니다
No microphone on the drum set, however..... the sound recording is amazing.
good man,
So cool....👍🏻
Grande!!!!!!
AWESOME
Great job!!!
Thank You
Muito bom !!!!
Thanks
very accurate, Awesome !!!
great
Muito agradável!
Nice video. What is your bass drum pedal spring tension set at?
this dope!
this is soo good....but.....were is your Yamaha pedal ??
Any good recordings I could play along to to practice this?
really nice. Do you find that your foot gets tired playing heel down, and do you think that a heel up approach could be practical? thanks

@@SachaKDrums Oh..ok. Actually, I was asking about your bass drum foot with heel down or up...lol.
Good👍👍👍🥁🥁🥁😉✌️
Loveyou both :*
Street samba is carnival style so no drum set just the separate percussion instruments including snare drums played while marching
Well when you're in a jazz band you can't have an entire street
this is a challenging beat, the snare part gets me thrown but im close. good break down though thx
Really nicely broken down. Thanks!
Is Istanbul that amazing affordable brand I heard about years ago, the hidden giant go-to. Or am I thinking of something else?
Hi Sacha. I was referring earlier to your right foot samba pattern on the bass. Do you always have full heel down for that, and does it get fatiguing?. Thank you-
Difficult at first but after a bit of practice beautiful women came from nowhere and started dancing around me. Thanks!!

mission accomplie!!! pas evident quand meme

It sounds very good to me. What I am missing is how to count it.
☺☺
Just to explain more: the condution its the same with double bpm or not... but the left hand its free to do everything who can "fix" with the music.

May I request for the pdf drum sheet music for this groove? Thanks
Hard 😭
I just got it today,, but in slower tempo i'm very happy !
Which hi-hats are those?
didnt know the guy who makes happy wheels levels also play the drums
le drumkit a ete fait jespere tes content shacha k nobap tes lunivers oubli po
you are very nice
This shit is hard AF
count the hihat as heel toe heel toe ect. if you are having trouble with it
what is that instanbul ride?
All I hear is the beginning part of Break On Through by Densmore and the doors
Actually it's a very good lesson so I hear more than just that
Same here. Break On Through uses a Bossa Nova beat but that's fairly similar.
After watching more than 10x I still couldnt get the Partido Alto part. Could someone please enliighten me, which beat to skip? The "2 And" ....
Partido Alto.

O “dude” conhece a diferença entre samba e bossa nova!?!!

This shit is hard
Almost similar with Bossanova, it's just up speed tempo right?
+Anggraini Ainul Mardiah Not exactly. The snare/cross stick rhythm is different I think.
As a rule of thumb, kinda. But the samba emphasizes the 2 (or 3, depending how you count). And the cross stick is a little different.
