Greg doucette has actual experience in both and he said he’s far stronger natty focusing on powerlifting, than he was when he was on gear while having a bodybuilding show as his main priority. So I think off gear Chris would automatically drop 40-50lbs since he’s obviously genetically responsive to it and he’d be “far stronger”. We will never know the reality but considering he was repping(deadlifting) 495lbs at 18yrs old before he took gear. He’d be a powerlifting elite to say the least.

If you dont train for a one rep max, then you may find your 1rm is only slightly higher than your 10rm. I see it all the time in crossfit competitions and with bodybuilders who enter powerlifting comps.

Most bodybuilders could easily transform to powerlifting, but they don't want to. What would the point be. There's no money in powerlifting and 99.9% of people will look at the bodybuilder looking huge instead of the powerlifting lifting alot of weight, in the gym. Girls are dripping when you swole and ripped. If you want to train for strength, do Oly lifting or strongman over powerlifting, you can actually make a living out of that if you're good. Powerlifters will be spending more money on juice and food than they win in competitions. They win peanuts and most will snap their shit at some point (bound to happen when you lift in the 1-3 rep range all the time, pretty much). I have seen many discs pop in my career from egolifting..
muscle size is directly related to musclar strength.... your muscle get bigger by getting stronger, through creating a stimuls sufficient enough to signal to the nervous system it isnt strong enough *training to momentary muscular failure*. Chris's goal as a body builder is to progressively overload the muscles which is acheived through demanding more from the muslce than what it is currently capable of (reaching MomentaryMusclarFailure). just because you get strong Simply stated: If you train the muscles and not the movements you will get stronger muscles. However most people dont train their muscles (as effectively as possible) they train utilizing outside force like momentum, increasing thier peak force output while simultaneously damaging their ligaments bones and joints. Exercise performed properly and intensely enough will yield real strength and size gains. chris has fairly decent form as he isnt simply throwing around weights, however there is use of momentum still which can be corrected for, by eliminating momentum he will increase his true muscular strength which will in turn make him bigger and limit if not eliminate his chance of injury from using outside forces such as momentum.
The nuttiest part is his form on the deadlift; looks like his hips shoot up and the bar is out in front of him, little lat engagement. It’s like he’s just goofing off and pulling more weight from the floor than I even have the right to look at.

You have to remember he will rarely be doing compounds to low rep range, lack of training in that rep range combined with bodybuilding technique (squat is a million miles away from what would be seen for a powerlifting set up) along side being fasted/lower calorie intake and he’s still doing these numbers is very impressive. He could easily be a elite level guy in powerlifting
Long story short,I don't think it works that way.Hes not using competition technique in any lift, especially the deadlift. The fact he has so much muscle obviously helps him, something a lot of pure powerlifters could learn from who use minimalist programs that eschew hypertrophy work.

I never really thought about how small Chris is compared to open guys, but he did a video with Nick Walker that makes CBum look like a high schooler. In another video with Iain, Chris was Seated Pressing 315 in the smith machine. I thought that was nuts until Iain put another 90 lbs on.
