A video of how the car's doing after a good clean and detailing would not be unwelcome! Gotta see how that paint and leather shines after all the dust's gone.
I absolutely Love my OCT '98 built '99 year model 911 996 Carrera. 50 K on the clock with LN IMS and many new components. Outstanding car. I do love my old 1980 911 Carrera SC. But the '99 has COLD A/C !!! I live in the south I'm 72 and I need Cold A/C..
Not stock sounding exhaust, but stock tips. Therefore perhaps Fister mod or Gundo hack on the stock mufflers. Great buy if the engine is healthy. A lot more can go wrong besides IMSB.
My jump box and many others have a button for when the battery is below the minimum required for electrical connection. Push that button and the connection is made and you can get power to the battery. I plug mine into the cigarette lighter or the OBDII port and let the battery be able to open my frunk, then put on a charger to the battery and charge it to full, then start the engine.
I got a free 996 C2 manual because the owner died while the car was disassembled. He took it apart to replace the IMS, unnecessary since it was a dual row and in perfect condition. For some reason he stopped working on it after getting the old one out and the car sat about 10 years. I put it back together and have been driving it for just over a year with no issues.
Literally bought another 986 cause it was cheap, had a hardtop, sport seats, and aero kit too. You inspired me to do a “free boxster” project of my own
Nice buy! The ticking is a concern…most people think it’s lifters but I’ve been burned by bore scoring….sounded just like yours…if the exhaust tips have unequal carbon or it’s burning oil, probably a good idea to bore scope. Good luck!
Great vid!!!! My best guess is what you stated about the previous owner either having a medical issue where he or she couldn't drive it anymore or they passed away. Congrats!!!
Get the oil, change and filter change done, and make the beast sing, let’s hear that exhaust going to see if it’s Stock or special; give us that short part two of the video, let’s hear it sing! Love hearing these videos, I’m blind so love to hear The gorgeous sounds that these Porsches can make
So refreshing to have you back on your channel. We have all been waiting patiently. Glad to see you with your great content with you and Christian! Cheers!
On these early cars with cable release hood levers you can unlock the locked levers with a small screwdriver just push the locking pin in - much easier than going through the wheel arch.
Nice buy! Metropole Blue is what the interior colour is called (same as mine 😊). Sticker should be under the hood, if it’s not there it probably means it has been painted. Factory hard top was standard (back then) with 911 convertibles.
I wouldn't doubt there's more competition for these Porsche Boxster & 911's because of the reveals here... I just hope when I'm finally in a place where I can give it a go, I get lucky. Just want a 1 time deal!
So glad to have JR garage content back, glad you grew your other channel and took some time out to just have a break, always put yourself first and your well being and mental health, great content and can’t wait for the influx of content on the channel 👌
Great result on the Porsche. Someone is looking down on you lads and throwing great bargains your way. Looking forward to another video in the near future
I love my 996 cab. I can't really tell you if it sounds right until you wind it out. It only really sounds incredible stock from 6-7k. Not knowing what your mic sounds like exactly, it could be stock or not.
Another Great Buy! You guys are sitting on a lot of cars, are they appreciating enough to offset the money you have tied up in them? Enjoying the content. Thanks Ray 🇨🇦
Just as I was about to comment to reccomend the forst facelift headlight change were the orange indicator got swapped out for a clear one I saw the end message😅
The hardtop alone has a decent value. They are rare and actually look sharp on the 996. The exhaust looks factory and sounds factory. Does it show PSE as an option? PSE is rare on all 911s.
I love detailing, it's so satisfying to me. I have a 2017 SantaFe sport I polish often. Plasric are done often as well. People want to touch it, ir's so shiney. I've always loved it's color canyon copper. Yikes, the gorgeous cars you guys have and I'm taking about a Hyundai . 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hey boys, Porsche anticipated the dead battery/electric hood release scenario. There is a 12v jumper prong that slides out of the kick panel fuse box that powers up the electric hood/trunk release.
During covid they had an incentive for some tax write offs on cars that were donated not sure on how much but it was well over the value of them and these older porsches people took advantage of the higher write off vs the sale value and paying taxes on the car. The cars then sit for 3-4 months before they are auctioned so thats why the batteries often die and then JR garage takes advantage of the auction companies not wanting to deal with it. What a steal of a car for 8k!
Would it not be an easyer way to power up the porsches? Try a cable with a cigarette lighter connector, connected to a jump pack, just to feed enough current to unlock the trunk or trunk or whatever you call it?
Hey guys. I have backed powered a light socket in cars to power up the fuse box and basically powers up most switches. Like, just pop a tail light out, apply power to the feed wires, and other things will come alive in the car if that makes sense
I have a pretty rare 95 3000 gt sl spyder value $16,000-$26,000. So in the middle would be $21,000. I had it 7 years and put 4,000 miles on it, always garaged. I’d trade you for the White 911. My car value can only go up, this one really won’t. A win win. What do you say young man. Mind you I just have a valve job since the timing belt went, $4,500 later, damn.

Cool, so you apply 12V that way and not through the “official” electrical contact?
Congrats on the win! Time and time again you're coming out ahead and it's fun to watch.
"You may even get tired of winning!" Love it!

these 996 generations of engines is not common have bore scoring, 997 engines were really common but i wouldn't be that concerned...

Welcome back jr garage
well done JR glad the luck is coming your way ,all the best from MALTA
Oh my gosh, over $4 per gallon for regular gas?? I better stop complaining about paying $2.85 around here in Florida.
Come to Europe, minimum 6.5$ per gallon
Come to India, its $5 here
this was filmed months ago i think
Great content, I wouldnt mind owning a cheap porches just to give it a try, even if it kills me hahah

17:56 that lifter sound started creeping up 🤣🤣
Love you guys, you have great energy, and you are lucky as duck man.
It would be very interesting to see that hard top got off and inspect how's the soft top underneath

Welcome back plz fo more videos plz
New sub , you talk fast, how many coffees you drink ?
"Welcome back to JR Boxter"😂
As it turns out buying cheap Porsches can make you a lot of money. If it dosen't run you can always part it out.
Homie doesn’t miss with the cheap Porsches 😮
How much are you asking for this vehicle?
Not a fan of 911 convertibles, would rather have a Boxster any day.
Fixing up the interior would be my suggestion for a second video, especially fixing that horrible covered steering wheel.
Mardel Plata is a beach in Argentina, and pacha is a disco in buenos aires too
does he mention this on the video ?? i didnt watch it completly
It's a club on Ibiza as well, as the sticker says
Can you guys do a garage tour ??😊
Yes please do one ❤
Just hardtop alone has to be worth some coins
Finally love the content ❤
Why havent you ever tried backfeeding a battery signal through a light cable or something? Sometimes a simple 9v batterybwill work.
This one is not the electrical release that you’re talking about, plus the ones that do you have the emergency fuse rarely work for us.
@JRGarage gotcha. Just had a thought. Glad you're back!
Christian looks so good in those fifties style glasses ….. doctor zhivago 😘🤓
One day I’ll get my Porsche from you guys 👍🏻. Get exited with you guys working on them👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
W video but I am really looking forward for the Gallardo rebuild video

You guys are amazing. Truly appreciate your work ethic and the platform to display what work and a measure of knowledge can accomplish 👍
I’m about to buy a boxster 2.7 2001 but it’s not been turned on since 2017 when the owner died. Any advice before buying it for £1800 which is $2100
The mannequin tRump looks good with you.
That is amazing guys well done
Seriously looking forward to your car buying "tips and tricks!"
Way overdue, I have so much knowledge to share
People underestimate these old Porsches…they are more reliable then everyone thinks 👍🏼
You can access fuss 30 (I think) then connect jump cables key in ignition the car powers up and you can open the front
On the 996?
We gotta get you the hands free cam holster, my boy
YES FINALLY! Very excited for you to be back!
