It's year 2022, and this ipad mini Gen 1 is sitting in one corner collecting dust.
It's currently on the latest IOS 9.3.5 and it's hella sluggish and not very satisfying to use the least.
So i've dusted it, charged it just to downgrade back to IOS 8.4.1.
PREREQUISITE DOWNLOADS :
Phoenix IPA :
Sideloadly : pangu8.com/sideloadly/
This video basically covers :
1. Jailbreaking 9.3.5 using Phoenix (ipa) & Sideloadly (exe windows)
2. With the Phoenix app installed, trust the app under Settings , General , Profile
3. Proceed with the jailbreak process with Phoenix
4. With Cydia, installed iFile
5. With iFile, head to System , Library , CoreServices , SystemVersion.plist
6. Edit this file specifically for :
-- ProductVersion : to 6.0
-- BuildNumber : to 10A406
(this is to trick Apple Server that this ipad mini is still at ios 6.0)
7. Reboot your device
8. Open Settings and check for updates. IOS 8.4.1 should be available for download and install away (the official way).
OTHER NOTES
To restore/downgrade other iOS 9.3.5/9.3.6 devices, with ProductVersion = 6.0, you may use the following build number instead :
For iPhone 4S: 10A403
For iPod Touch 5: 10A406
For iPad3: 10A403

If you do this, make sure to turn off your iCloud first. When the update is finished , erase all contents and settings.
After downloading, I couldn't install it, so I logged out of iCloud and it installed. Thank you so much.

If you downgrade, iTunes may not connect. I did this and iTunes didn't work. I restored it to iOS 9.3.5 by putting it in DFU mode.

Techincally you can, but you need to know the exact firmware version number in order to spoof it correctly, else you might end up flashing the firmware from recovery all over again

10.3.3 is sadly unsigned, even if u know how to do it, itll just say the spoof version is the latest
this method only for devices that used ios 6 and 8

mine came after 5 minutes. maybe one day i get it to its oldest version 6.01
can this work for any dowgrade version like ios 9 to 7

Yes I tried that with an iPhone 4S so when the update is installed you need to factory reset it first to make it more usable

@@blazeneal6049 this comment is old, i restored it with an ipsw and then succesfully downgraded, i just had to use 6.1.3
yeah this didnt work and now my ipad is stuck with a 6.0 version and the jailbreak and cydia wont work.
You can restore from itunes
It's not upgrading to 8.4, im using iPad Mini 1 btw
It shows "Software are up to date (6.0)" on the software update tab
So it shows u are on 6.0 now and it doesn't prompt for update ?

It does not prompt me with the agree to update. Instead it just keeps loading
