Thanks. Worked perfect. Turns out the 'new' liquid detergent we used that caused leakage and set off the alarm was NOT for dishwashers but for hand washing. Duh. Followed your instructions, dried the pan out and it now works fine...with the correct detergent.
this video, and the Maytag page that sent you here, friggin sucks so im going to tell you what i wish i read when i came here: The F8E4 code is driven by a water sensor in the drip pan. the drip pan in under the hinge of the door in the front and also lays under the water supply line. if you try to clear the code and cant its prob bc you got water pooled up in your drip pan. you can get on your belly and pull off some paneling and insulation to access it. it pops out with 2 squeeze tabs on either end, its about 2ft long 4in wide. pull that puppy out and pour the water out. then either flip your breaker or unplug the machine and let'r sit for a min to reset the control system. then put it all back together that should clear it. as to why your drip panel is filling up thats on your brother. your supply line might be leaking or your old lady might have poured a bunch of water on the inside of the door while trying to clean it. good luck
Way to come through with the suggestion. This was exactly the problem for me. Nothing else would work and I was about ready to rip the dishwasher out by the door handle.
The tittle has two parts: 1. What the code means. 2. How to fix it. The video explain how to fix it very well. My guess for what the code means is that the water level is not filling properly. Please let me know if I am wrong/
This video title is very misleading and the video is not helpful without the context which appears to be missing. Feels like it jumps right in to fixing an issue without getting the audience up to speed on what is even happening.
I tried to remove the code so many times. But it stops for a few seconds then comes right back, beeping loudly and showing the F8E4 error.

This comment is the most helpful thing on this page. The OP's video was a letdown and the title was misleading.
Thanks for the help!
F*** the video, just read this 💯

This video gives no useful info!
Thank you, the video was great. The repair was just like the video. start to finish 30-45 minutes.
FYI pressing "cancel" twice does not remove the code on all Whirlpool dishwashers. Tried that with no luck.
My code is 8 8E
What do I do for that one?
Watch a different video?
This is an official Maytag video?
