    as someone who lives in a town that was once served by a west country branch line (x2), i will. say that the lswr and the gwr had stations right next to eachother, and in later years shared a signal box

    I had no idea something as trivial as pre-grouping railways would get a slander.
    By the way, I don’t think the North Staffordshire Railway was boring. They had some nice locomotives and some interesting little stories.

    I want more of this, but I know if I did then I'd get my opinions on niche pre-grouping railways roasted. I'm a fan of the NSR and H&BR believe it or not. It's also a shame that the GCR never managed to achieve as great of a success as it hoped for.

      I don’t know a lot about the H&BR, but I do think they’re pretty interesting. I wish at least one of their locos had managed to survive, perhaps their Class A “Tinies” 0-8-0s.
