Shell does not come with a lens, buttons, membranes, or stickers. Lens should be sourced from your backlight kit, buttons and membranes can be sourced from your donor console or you can buy new funnyplaying buttons (still need membranes). Your old stickers might be able to be transferred or you can purchase new ones.

i was pretty psyched to see that there were new shell options out there. plus with some new colors and ease of use with the new IPS kits.

What a huge relief FP are making pocket shells. The rest of the aftermarket shells are awful.

Got a bunch arriving tomorrow :) extreme green, clear & smoke
Additional to the obvious advantages, I really like the accurate nintendo logo and battery spring looks way better compared to generic aftermarket shells.

Awesome vid! Would love to see you test a LiPo battery mod in one of these with a IPS screen compared to standard batteries. I know you said it might benefit from one and I’ve been thinking about doing one for myself! Thanks anyways for the content!

I did a LiPo mod with a 600mah battery (902035) and I’m getting a little over 3 hours on default brightness using Everdrive-GBx7. I did have to cut thought the battery compartment since I’m using a regular aftermarket shell. However if you find a battery in the likes of 602244 then it may fit on this shell without much cutting - may try it ;)

Pretty cool shell Makho, diggin’ the red buttons and the lens is a nice touch! I know you don’t get overly frustrated with dust underneath the lens, but that’s the hardest job to do.
Thanks for your videos as usual.

Do you happen to know the alternate soldering point for adjust color palette/pixel model on this kit? I ripped my soldering pad and got searching on reddit. There I found a post with photo’s from you of alternate soldering points, but as far as I can tell you only showed that of the CGB retropixel. Would this be the same? I actually tried and it failed. You're definitely right about that lol. I have been watching a number of guides and tutorials, but of course nothing beats real experience.

The battery runtime makes this mod useless with the GameBoy Pocket. 1 - 2 hours are too short.

    • @makho

Looks great! Bummer though, I don't want to give Retro Lame Repair Shop anymore of my business after they wouldn't accept the return of my bogus CNC metal buttons. I'm interested in buying this kit for my GB Pocket, but I'll just learn to live without it.

    • @makho

Man, nothing invalidates an argument faster than using a mock name. I saw all your reddit posts and if you're bringing that shit here too, it's going to earn you a mute.
Look, literally no one else has had the problem you are whining about. You are claiming that the buttons damaged your console yet you offer no evidence. You post after pictures that look exactly like a worn stock console would after 15 years of use and no before pictures in sight. You also claim that the unmarked start and select buttons serve as evidence that the metal buttons cause damage except that start and select buttons are used significantly less than the dpad a and b so of course they will show less wear. I literally have stock consoles that have never had metal buttons and have significantly more wear than yours.
You want to have a discussion? Fine, let's talk. You want to start slinging baseless accusations about my friend? You can fuck right off.
No one is saying that these buttons won't cause wear. Literally no one. But stock buttons cause wear too. I literally have one of RetroCNC's first prototype sets of buttons and my SP shows no more wear than it did before I installed the buttons. And unlike you, I have before pictures (video even).

@@makho This is what I needed to hear from someone who has experience. I appreciate you taking the time to explain.
Understand that I'm not attacking, or trying to offend you. I'm upset with RCNC's product (along with RGRS and their return policies regarding this issue), but that's between them and I. You're on point about the mock name, but understand that's not directed towards you, so there's no need to be insulting/condescending.
My accusations are not baseless, and that's my point. If you had actually read my post, why would you claim my stance is baseless?
Correct, no one is saying the metal buttons won't cause wear, but no one is pointing out that they DO cause wear (especially in the short two day time period I tried them). If you have proof of stock buttons causing the type of wear I have experienced, then that is what I needed to hear. I would love to see that. I'm looking for some confirmation, but the conversation gets distorted by bias.
