Mick Warner's book The Boys Club also covers this topic - interesting reading what he has uncovered re how little interest the AFL showed in Dank/Robinson's involvement in Melbourne FC and Geelong FC, why Robinson got a million-dollar payout instead of a penalty and why they seemed so terrified of being brought before a court to testify. It's a fascinating read.
It's a remarkable comeback, literally should have folded with all that finical trouble but kept above.
Do one about the 2004 Prelim Finals, and how Port were given an extra days rest and the Lions had to play a home final at the MCG essentially ruling out the chance for four flags in a row.
And the Saints throwing away their Premiership too because the fans stormed the field in the 2004 PF

I felt bad for Essendon fans, because Essendon fans went through a lot of crap no fan base deserves to go through this.
Even if they were guilty the fans shouldn't be expected to go through that.

You should do one of 2020 and how appalling the umpiring is and the state of the game. How it's the most frustrating to watch the afl has ever been.
Its 2023 now and its getting worse. Congested play, terrible skills, bad kicking, dropped marks, players kicking snaps from directly in front of goal and kicking out of bounds. Its like a comedy of errors,
Ima also gonna point out the bombers are in a good position financially speaking. They didn’t take any money from the AFL and earlier would’ve been about one of six clubs that could wear the shut down pretty easily

Being an Essendon supporter myself it’s easy to get frustrated. Obviously with the drug saga and our inconsistency in our recent years is tough. I’ll always love the Bombers but it’ll be a while until we are up to the standards of our 2000 team.
God 2 months is a long time in footy. Essendon back to being a rabble already

Thank God Dr. Reid didn't get fucked over. He had conscientious objections about not being in the loop and that shows with the AFL backing down when he threatened legal action.

You will no doubt remember Julia Gillard, and the CEO's of Rugby League, and the AFL at a press conference telling us about widespread PED usage, links to organized crime, etc.
What happened there? No prosecutions, no other AFL club had any problem. It was all political posturing. Dank, at the very least, should have had his license to practice revoked.

I think if the club doctor is raising concerns about an injection program the club is running then you'd have to be a fool to ignore it.
What about the weagles drug scandal with Ben cousins?
Thing that bothers me most now is they still don’t know if that’s what they took because they never tested positive for it also sucks ass and I they can’t prove they didn’t take it because apparently all the information was destroyed.
It’s still baffles me that only recently the essendon board was held accountable for this and removed thank you David Barham.

As a die hard bombers fan, i have to disagree with your comments re our list and culture. We argueably have the worst development program in the AFL. Every high end draft pick we have had in the previous 10-15 years has never reached there potential. 2006 - gumbleton (pick 2), jetta (pick 23)
2007 - david myers (pick 6)
2008 - michael hurley (pick 5) = success
2009 - jake melkshem (pick 10) = fail
2010 - Dyson Heppell (pick 8) = good but not a star
2011 - elliott kavanagh (pick 18) delisted after 4 years
2012 - joe daniher (pick 10 father son) = success and fail
2013 - zach merrett (pick 26) = star
2014 - kyle langford (pick 18) and jayden laverde (pick 20) = jury's still out
2015 - darcy parish (pick 5) & aaron francis (pick 6) = so far this is a disaster. Parish is ok but not consistant and not a star which at his age, pick and position is a fail. Aaron francis has serious talent but his head and heart isnt in it and a trade to an sth australian club should be done.
2016 - andy mcgrath (pick 1) good but is he better then taranto at pick 2? I think not.

they do have a pretty good list but very little depth, like this year has shown if they sustain a few injuries they dont look a good side at all.
