I almost forgot, Tom Francis is my vector of exposure to NL. Tom did an XCOM series and I wanted more and found NL's XCOM series. That was like 9 years ago and neither one of those b holes came to my birthday party :(

Honestly, as much as I am polar opposite of NL regarding caring about the writing in the game... him skipping it just gives more incentive for people to play it for themselves unmediated by a streamer so they can actually read what he's skipping.
Holy. This is the exact stream of consciousness I had thinking about if NL would be skipping through the writing or not, and how it could be a positive thing. That's so funny.
NL is the master of making his viewers buy games, combo of skipping story and making terrible plays

Straight up, even though The Terror got a bit goofy towards the end, it’s a really great watch and I don’t care if it makes me seem like a thirty seconds to mars fan to say but the tuunbaq is a cool ass monster. Give me anything that stars Ciarán Hinds or Jared Harris and I’ll watch it.

Holy cow I read the terror earlier this year. Heard the first season was great but second was mid (not based on the book). Dan Simmons is my favorite author

Having lived on both sides of North America for over ten years each, Atlantic is far better from a North American perspective, and it's not close. Pacific is cold as fuck, I never could never wade out into it. Atlantic is warm, it's pretty great. Both have pretty good beaches though, if you never want to go in the water.

The gameplay looks cool, but I don't know if I could take this sort of writing this consistently for an entire game.
It’s a significant turn-off. I have no idea how so many people are praising it. Juvenile and boring.
it does get a bit old towards the final act but i wouldn't say it's ever unbearable

The writing is one of my favourite parts of the game, and it has many very very good parts. But on the bright side, I suppose it does help for the pacing of videos, and would keep the jokes from being spoiled to people who decide to pick up the game from these videos.
They went out of their way to make like ALL of the story optional. Seems like a neat option for those not interested in story based games, or especially for repeat playthrus / speedrunning
It's extremely Marvel banter coded, which most people are completely sick of at this point. The skip option was a good choice.

@@pretentiousname01 Took me around 20 hours to beat, which is decent. Gonna likely be 18 or less for NL since he just skips the entire story. Which is a shame, the writing is excellent.
It's also one of the reasons I've stopped watching him. I get players have different preferences, but buying a story heavy game and not even trying to engage with the plot is... a waste. It also strikes me as incredibly dismissive towards the devs, who have clearly put a lot of passion and effort into it.
I completed it in 23 hrs on hard, doing all the confidence goals and challenge missions up to the final mission (still need to do the post game missions).

Dude watches the Matrix 1 in 5 minutes chunks on the Peleton across a 2 month period and then plays a story heavy game with excellent writing and really goes "yeah, I'm too good for this"

Played the demo a while back. Fun game mechanically, but would like to see what progression/new characters adds. The writing isn't for me, the more I hear from the main characters the more artificial they feel. When I'm making dialogue choices based on what's the least insufferable, it's not a great time.

I love seeing these games, but I feel like they're horrible to stream because it's nothing but commenters whining about how you could finish in three moves instead of four even though you win either way

I might have to go back to watch your xcom stuff again. Think im overdue for a nostalgia trip. Plus lets be honest, watching you play Xcom is pretty much an ego boost for me because its pretty much the only time I ever felt smarter than you in something NL. Nothing more entertaining then watching somebody you respect for their intelligence mess up at something we 'average IQ boys' find to be easy. We normies need that boost now and then. I would include LA noire as a game you are bad at too since you seemed to have a lot of trouble reading peoples faces... but I unfortunately have that issue too and was terrible at that game too but I did agree with your rant that the whole doubt and lie system was pretty convoluted.

@@freshnewshoes Because It such a huge ask to allow text to remain on the screen long enough to pause it? There is literally no reason why he couldn't do that. It's not changing how he plays the game whatsoever. And I would say the fact he allows comments allows people to make comments and he doesn't need to Whiteknighting for him especially since I wasn't attacking him. Simply offering a suggestion that I'm sure many of his viewers would appreciate. I'm sure would rather I leave some constructive criticism rather than unsub and watch someone that values lore like Cristopherodd instead which is much more viable alternative than buying and beating the game myself. Honestly, I really enjoyed the writing in this game. I sure hope he doesn't blast through it 🥲
