      Parkway Drive's Horizons album defined my metalcore tastes for me along with ABR's Messengers. Respect for KSE, ATR, and AILD for pioneering the distictive sound but I just like the those better.

    ABR is amazing. They’ve had such a mature progression in their music over the years. They haven’t abandoned their roots and alienated any significant portion of their fans. I don’t listen to new ABR and think “man I really miss Messengers and Constellations”. I love that when you go see them they play all of their music. They don’t put out a 10 song record and NEVER play 4-5 of the tracks. It’s always a different experience with some familiar stuff thrown in.

    • @jotarokujo4571

      You sound like one of the fans who actually think their last two albums were good. They've been making the same album since Phantom Anthem. This new album sounds exactly like the last two already with this single. I 100% miss messengers and constellations sounding albums and so do alot of ABR fans.

    • @mattk7903
      @mattk7903 2 роки тому +15

      @@jotarokujo4571 idk man, I still hear a lot of the same since Messengers. I feel like their music moving through the years has been a mature progression. Very little people are sitting around having the same types of conversations about ABR as we are about bands like Parkway Drive and Architects

    • @jotarokujo4571
      @jotarokujo4571 2 роки тому +2

      @Matt K It's slowly starting to happen. Most of the people in the ABR fan group is starting to take notice of the same generic sound every album. They're my favorite band and I haven't enjoyed in album by them since FIFAP and even then that album is OK.

    • @Alkatribe
      @Alkatribe 2 роки тому +1

      ABR have been able to stay in their own genre, they have always managed to renew themselves without having to change genre like Architects or other. But their music has absolutely not matured. Always the same lyrics, the same structures, the same breakdowns. Only their approach has evolved, that's why they are still so good after all these years.

    Jake ( the singer) gave me a shirt after remembering me for like four different shows in Michigan. It said RUN/ABR like the RUN/DMC shirt (from early hip-hop/rap group of the same name). If I remember correctly he said it was rare, and he wasn't lying cause I have never seen that shirt anywhere else again. I ended up giving it to a dear friend who still has it, and this was like 8 years ago. Love those guys.

    Can we just give it to them for being so consistent ! Love it that they don't change it up - still using 6 strings in drop b- riffing it up with leads and zeros. ABR for the win here.

When you dive into the lyrics, it seems to be a story of a person lamenting how horrible this person on the death bed was to them in life, but how they are striving to move on from all the pain and put it all to rest, with conflicted feelings of love and hate for the dying man. super raw and super awesome, as always, ABR delivers more than just a song, they deliver a profound and relatable message. they just keep growing as people and musicians, and i'm hear for it

    August Burns Red is my sh!t. Back in 2005, my gf was obsessed with metal so she asked for their album “Thrillseeker” for Christmas. We broke up before then so I kept the CD and randomly decided to open it the following summer. Fell in love the first 10 seconds. Found out they were playing a show 8 miles away the next month so I went. Mind you this was when they were basically nobody so they played for a crowd of 17 people in some run down coffee shop but I got to hang out with them and have a beer after the show. I told them they were going to be huge one day and that I was going to get an ABR tattoo when I left there that night. I ended up walking to the closest tattoo shop a couple blocks away. It will forever be one of my favorite tattoos and my favorite story to tell. ❤

    i'm looking for more metalcore along the lines of Parkway Drive's KWAS and Horizons, preferably with a lot of highs
    any recommendations?

    I listened to this blind and couldn't tell it was August until the instrumental, they did a solid job with this. Sounds much more mature now.

    Its a very abr song. Which is not a bad thing. They have the creativity in writing. Can't wait to hear the song ft jason richardson. Should be interesting

      I can’t WAIT for J.R. to feature. He’s in such a different sub genre of metal so that combo should be really cool. Jason Richardson is one of my favorite guitarists.

      *best metalcore band with Christians in it*
      Just saying they haven’t actually been a Christian band for around ten years due to the fact that the majority of the band members actually aren’t believers. They still keep a positive message and Christian themes still show up in their lyrics sometimes, but as a Christian myself I think this is a better approach than trying to force it on the other band members. They made their choice and spreading positive messages is better than ripping the band apart over beliefs.

    ABR continuing to be one the most consistently good bands in the genre, and SharpTone continuing their quest to swallow every Metalcore band.

    I used to love the old stuff, thrillseeker messengers and constellations of course, but they just aren’t my thing anymore. As consistent as they are, I haven’t enjoyed their progression as much. There just hasn’t been a lot to keep me interested in their style so I just give some of it a quick listen and move on. Still this is a good track and I’ll always appreciate a band who doesn’t try to go a crazy new direction and alienate the fans who made them who they are today. Great guys. Great live show too.

    Saw them live the other weekend and they came on stage doing their Chop Suey cover, if that wasn't how to hype a crowd up then I dunno what is! Everyone was singing along loving life!

      I was hoping they would do this, its been a tradition everytime I saw them live Chop Suey was played on the speakers right before they get on and they ALWAYS let the song finish before coming on. And the crowd is super into it every single time. God I love these guys
