Despite her early success, Suraiya faced numerous obstacles in her acting career. The partition of India in 1947 led to the migration of her family to Mumbai, where she had to start anew in the Hindi film industry. She faced rejection and struggled to establish herself as a leading actress.
However, Suraiya's talent and perseverance soon caught the attention of filmmakers, and she rose to prominence with her stellar performances in films like "Dillagi" (1949), "Dastan" (1950), and "Mirza Ghalib" (1954).
