The reason they didn't give doom his one-shot when he moved to a tank is they thought that giving a tank a one-shot wouldn't be fun to play against. That is so ironic it's unreal. Because even if doom did have the one-shot if he'd still be punishable because he's an all in hero whereas hog is just completely safe for his one-shot not only that but hook is one of the easiest skill shots in the game. Like compair trying to land a hook to trying to land a knife on queen. Queen knife is so much harder to hit than hook but not only that you get less reward for something that harder to hit. Peak blizzard balance.
I agree, though keep in mind his punch cooldown is 3 seconds. And offers more "protection" since he can push people away super often. Whereas hog can only hook once every 7 or 8 seconds. I honestly can't wait for this shit meta to be over.
Knife and Hook are 2 different things. Queen's kit in general is very brawly and knife is a spammable CD that is hard NOT to get value with, seeing how you are able to get the bleed proc on the way. She also has more consistent poke and, I would say, better uptime. All of Hog's power is in his 2 CDs otherwise he just gets farmed, while Queen sits in the fight a bit constantly cycling. Queen isn't anywhere near the power of Hog, but it's also comparing apples to oranges as they do 2 very different things. BTW, I still want Hog to be nerfed into the dirt where he belongs, I just don't think comparing knife to hook is a particularly fair way to look at those particular abilities.
You can’t forget that there’s a difference between hogs hitbox and mobility compared to doom. This makes hog strong against a Cassidy for example, but against a widow (a good widow) he just gets destroyed. Doom now has basically an easier wrecking ball gameplay, with less punishment and more damage naturally.
A10 is definitely the one overwatch UA-camr I would regard as a wise player. His guides aren't the standard stuff and he clearly knows what he's talking about. Hats off to the man cus his tips have helped me tons
to be fair his entire channel is dedicated to only guides, most other channels mix in guides with other content. SO as a guide 1 trick, he should be the best
Another problem that arises when they do so many changes at once is, which buff was the straw that broke the camel's back. It's like turning up the heat and now your food is burning. You need to change it slower in smaller steps until it breaks and tune back a bit, imo.
Also you made me remember that we had Orissa hog meta until sigma came to keep hog in check. Imo hog should be a high risk high reward character and not this unkillable walking threat.
Nah bro, small changes is why we had goats for years, brig busted for 20 "small" nerfs in a row, double shield for years, I can go on..small infrequent changes are the reason the game dies and meta becomes stale. The problem is they leave problems unaddressed for too long. Not that they nerf/buff too hard. Hog issue was created from not nerfing him hard/sooner. Not because he was suddenly buffed too hard.
@@Teflora i agree, i love hog and main him forever but his kills are too free right now. very very hard to punish him unless you are hog yourself. this is due to the existence of kiriko suzu and his take a breather being so strong
That's just Blizzard way. If a character is OP or weak in multiple ways, they'll buff/nerf EVERYTHING, instead of one or the other. Imagine if Tracer had her current kit, but with 300 HP. People would say shes OP because she has too much mobility and too much HP, to which they would nerf her HP to 150 and reduce everything mobility-wise.
Out of any competitive game i've played for fun, overwatch has the most "meta slaves" I find (mostly on reddit), ironically in a game I feel has to most skill expression flexibility to fight whatever meta there is. I like that I found A10 who can look at the whole game critically, offer their own opinions based on personal taste, and killer editing too. Keep it up my dude!
Sojourn is still very frustrating to play against through. It's not that you can't beat her by playing off-meta heroes, but Sojourn is just a mish-mash of a bunch of other heroes like Soldier, Ashe, Widow, etc. and ends up being better than all of them. A really, really good Sojourn player with a Mercy pocket on the enemy team basically makes the game unplayable.
Yeah I think overwatch player genuinely can't think for themselves and just agree with whatever the mob mentality is. I think a lot of the top OW content creators are to blame for this. Lately Flats has been spewing so much bs about the state of each character and everyone agrees with him when he is clearly proven wrong about almost every thing he says after a day or two and no one calls him out for it
I think a big problem is the fact that 8/10 ow2 videos I see are all talking about the terrible state of ow2, this speaks volumes about the state of game and the fact that blizzard hasn't done anything drastic to change the opinions of most players is crazy to me If I didnt already play ow2 I'd be put off from all of those videos and I bet many are already
This is one of the first of your videos I have seen in a long time, you’re public speaking / UA-cam voice skills has gotten incredibly good!! Ive been occupied with studying and life but I hope you’re keeping well and that your wrist has healed well. Take care Alex!
Thanks Mrdx, good to see you man! My arms are still messed up but I am so motivated to eat, workout and take care of myself to make better content. I was really nervous about this video because I did it in one take and just spoke my mind, so it makes me very happy that you (and others) think it was good
As a roadhog main, I've waited 6 years for this day. I can finally use the character and people actually ask me to play roadhog. Don't want to get hooked? Be better at positioning. Only thing that needs a nerf is his survavility.
Better positioning? The hook is 3 miles long. And its not like we can bully him out of a position, ana literally cant miss heals on him and he has his own anyway. He's unkillable and one shots from across the map. The only counter now is ana.
I’ve seen so so many people quitting due to broken hero’s that keep showing up. They ruined tanks completely they don’t protect their team they are so frustrating to play and play against.
@@invasivepenguin8560 absolutely but it’s not the meta you get punished most of the time. I’m just repeating what others have said. I’ve seen at least 20-25 people quit dude to the current status of the game.
@@Gwallacec2 It just depends on the tank. DVA is still very peel oriented, but personally I find the old-fashioned idea of the entire team hiding behind double shields to be a good riddance.
@@TheButterMinecart1 It's not just double shield, it's making new heros give teammates a QOL. Not doom or ball just leaping across the Map while the supports play DBD.
High skill characters are often bad because they’re OP in the right hands. The counter intuitive thing is nerfing those characters only make those one tricks stronger when they eventually get buffed. Meaning new players struggle to learn said hero, while older one tricks dominate until the character gets nerfed again.
I’m not a fan of Rammatra’s ultimate. It could just be that he’s new & I haven’t fully figured out counter-play. But it seems like a very high reward, low skill ultimate. I wouldn’t have much issue with it if it wasn’t for 2 things: Block & Overtime contesting. If a Rammatra is using ultimate while your team has to contest a point in overtime, it feels like it’s just GG. The only counter-play options against his ultimate from what I can tell are: - get out of his range so his ultimate runs out (which you can’t do in OT). - shield off his ultimate so it runs out (which only a very well placed Winston bubble has the hopes to do). - kill Rammatra’s healers & then him; which is a lot to ask. It just feels like Rammatra gains so much while requiring the player to do very little on their end. It feels so out of place with the rest of his kit & very toxic in overtime (which is a very prominent part of most games). Aside from his ultimate, I think he’s pretty cool. I do think the Devs are jumping the gun if they’re looking to buff him. I also think Winston will become the go-to counter tank just because of the bubble. But idk. Maybe I’m overlooking something. Thoughts?
I very much agree with the perception of patch notes. Example is how doom "now has a 3 second punch" but has actually had it since OW2 launch . One thing about the tracer bug was that I do give the community is that if you were a good tracer, it was very easy to miss because you had to play "poorly" to get the value. Obviously some of the time you are shooting from distance, but most players aren't firing multiple clips in fall off range. It would be like if it turned out Widow SMG turned out to have no fall off and a 4 times dmg bonus on targets over 30 meters. It could be OP, but also not be something would discover in common play.
Yeah it's crazy how many people were like "I can't believe doom can stun you every three seconds now," even though that's always been a thing in OW2. The change they made was specifically to when they impact a wall with a regular punch.
all the buffs at once to doomfist were a bit to much, however he went from being almost useless to actually viable, he still has hard counters, he is very easy to punish when he misses a punch or dives in and gets slept , hooked, javelined, shield bashed, charged etc, as for helping your team you could use a zarya bubble, lamp, suzu etc. and in my opinion he is not OP. It really matters who is playing doomfist, its not possible for a random tank player in gold to pick him up all of a sudden and start destroying lobbies, it requires knowing all his techs, cool down timings, how to play around other peoples cooldowns etc. Compare doom the orisa, she requires minimal skill to play, has a stun ability that you can lob every few seconds, she can absorb ultimates, does high dps, and has an ability that makes her stun immune, crit hit immune and gives her enough extra health and damage reduction to escape from most situations. I'm not saying she is OP, but for the majority of players I do not see why dooms buffs are an issue when you could be going up against a tank that can take you out of any ult or whatever position your in and delete you and send you back to spawn (aka roadhog).
"actually viable" Have you looked at the top 500 leaderboard on tank lately? So much more than viable, it's oppressive. And yes, anybody can pick this hero up and play him.
Yes he requires much more mechanical ability to play, but to say he’s “viable” is an understatement my man. He’s kept the annoying-ness of Wrecking ball and he’s got cc that can be kept up indefinitely with minimal effort. Here’s to hoping they find a way to tune him down in a healthy way. Cheers mate
@@natibot no not anybody can, also as for top 500 there is around 2-3k people in that ranking. and as for "anybody can" when you see people like super or cyx pick doom and fight against somebody that actually understands dooms techs they get to destroyed (many examples of this with doomfist mains)
@@BuffNesquikBunny if you are talking about in unranked or low ranks like bronze-low gold then I completely agree but as for constantly keeping up CC in higher ranks its almost impossible, just because people actually know how to counter doom. But yes I do agree I hope they find a way to make him more of a tank than a strong DPS which is what he is at the moment.
Blizz are going the same route as Riot did some time ago… They ran out of ideas… They are just creating heroes that are "mix" of old/existing abilities in game… And I am not telling that creating "innovative" heroes is easy task - but you don't have to set this goal all the time. Because if you do - you just end up creating a new hero (or many heroes just like now in OW2) out of existing abilities in game… The only difference is that these abilities are packed into a single hero. And to make sure hero is not a "power creep" is to simply control their stats. But stats is not a "balance". Stats just provide "fair feel" to game. However balance is a "hero design". Take a widow for example. She has a capability of 1-shoting most of enemy team at a long range distance… And guess what? She is absolutely static while doing so also being totally TRASH in close range with her left click shooting ability. AND IT IS OK THAT WAY! That is how games are supposed to be balanced. If you want a game that feels fair and also deep in terms of learning curve - you just have to design heroes with 2 sides. One side is for being strong and the opposite side is meant to be weak. Take a Kiriko for example. She has an ability to teleport! THAT IS INSANE! Now tell me why the f**k she needs a Baptiste's Lamp? Guess what…? Blizz knew they just stole an ability from Bap and decided to give it also a cleanse option… WTF? And the best part is that it has a lower cooldown that Bap's Lamp… You can clearly see that the Kiriko was designed around her teleport and 3x HS dmg. And that is a good reason why she can have a teleport. She has to flank - she has to be aggressive support and in case of problem you just YEET out yourself back to your team with teleport. But then designers/devs thought of - "hmmm… what if player wants to teleport in (instead of out) to teammate for providing help". LETS GIVE A FCKN BAP'S LAMP TO HER… No you simply should not let her to have that. That's it. OR alternatively she CAN HAVE IT BUT then WTF is 3x dmg multiplier for HS? That is the problem… She can be on offensive end of play style while being safe and also being insanely safe at the back of her team with pretty strong "all-in" teleport combo that saves her teammates (and potentially also allows her teleport back to backline since teleport cooldown is too low). Or one more alternative would be that - she can actually stay the way she is in terms of her abilities and HS multiplier but then she simply has to receive WAY SMALLER HEAL OUTPUT. Imagine if Zen actually would be able to heal as much as Kiriko does with his primary heal. I know Zen has an strong healing ULT, BUT IT CAN BE denied by good Ana. And if that is a case why Zen can't have a good primary healing? Tbh I think Kiriko and Zen should swap their primary heal outputs. It would make more sense for both ends. That is also reason why Lucio is better than Zen in terms of defensive ULT. Also what about Ramattra's ranged stance shield…? Do you know where you have seen it…? Thats right - Orisa from Overwatch 1 baby… They just stole her shield and gave it to Ram… And let's not even discuss a Sojourn. Braindead hero design… Same problem like Kiriko but even stronger to the next level…
Roadhog was never really “meta”. He was only picked in pubs because playing a main tank in OW1 became so boring, which is why tank was the least popular role. He was regarded as unviable in pro play. In fact, the only hero that was picked less than him in OWL 2021 was Bastion. To claim that Roadhog was “OP for 2 years” is straight up historical revisionism. He has the same issue going on as Pudge in Dota 2 where the hero is popular because people deem him “fun to play”, not because he’s “meta”.
My biggest complaint with the new hero’s is that their ultimates are basically just reusing a regular ability, aside from Kiriko, but it feels a bit underwhelming
They need to remove Sojourn's Railgun being able to headshot and buff the damage of a full-charge Railgun shot during her ult from 130 to 150. They should at least partially revert the spread nerf to her primary and should probably buff disruptor shot slightly since it has no slow anymore.
I find it very interesting how things transpired. All the 1 shot kills were super annoying in OW1 but damn it is way more noticeable with the 5v5 now. Also because even Blizzard’s newest character is so annoying to play against since she’s also a 1 shot character. Even a metal-rank player can pop off occasionally with Soujurn when their aim is popping off and it’s not fun dealing with
I think an underrated aspect to all this is that they took one of the hearthstone devs and moved him to the ow team. I'm noticing a lot of overlap in how they design the battlepass, shop, and this sort of gimmicky "one hero a season" identity. I think there are ways to navigate it properly but I also see a lot of ways they can fuck this up as bad as they've fucked up some aspects of hearthstone
The issue with making such massive changes every season is that you can work your ass off to get to a certain point, and to really understand a particular hero or particular set of heroes and then all of a sudden all of your work is thrown out the window. That’s incredibly frustrating. It makes me not wanna play the game anymore because it means that not only am I wasting my time just by gaming, but the wasted time I spend is even more wasted.
I feel like you just said everything I wrote in a comment last night on Coach_Mills' Channel. I appreciate that you don't batter the game and the creators to the point where people leaving Overwatch will become like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Agreed, more micro-changes, balance should be the goal to allow for diversity of playable heroes, playstyles, comps, and strategies each season rather than pre-defined ones that come from gamechanging meta changes.
I gotta say that on top of road hog being the top pick means the health of the game is bad, I would also include doom fist, both are insanely unfun to play against. Who likes getting stunned against a wall and bounced around? Not me. I was okay against sojourn because she was counter pickable with sombra, but now sombra is totally ass. I think that might be why this season is just way less fun. There are no counter picks anymore, you can’t play zarya to counter hog because he’s just so much better, you can’t play Orisa to counter doom fist because he’s just that much better. You can’t okay sombra to counter widow, sojourn or soldier because they are just better hero’s, and healing so insane in this game compared to ow 1. No counter picks. Just one static meta of unfun heroes to play against.
One of the big problems with hero who have a "toxic" kit is that nerf won't cut it. Stat nerfs of cooldowns, hp, damage, etc. are only good for kicking the can down the road. The toxic kit is still there. It is just not as obvious as before, because the popularity of the nerfed hero strunk with the nerf. But it won't hold because at some point the hero will resurface at some point, as seen with Roadhog countless times. What these heros really need are changes to there core kit, to give them more weakness if they are to hard to counter, less diverse tool if they are to well rounded, etc. But the problem making good changes is that they are hard to do without damaging the core identity of a hero. Again with the Roadhog example. If you were to put a gun to my head I wouldn't be able to tell you how you have to change Roadhogs toxic kit without removing his hook in some form. And removing his hook isn't really an option because it is a big part of his identity.
truthfully hog has always been a solo hero, and that's why I love him, it's why everyone I know who plays hog loves him. His identity is tied up into the ability to kill easily.
It’s astonishing to see how bad Blizzard is at balancing their game. The only explanation there can be is that they do not play the game at all and are making changes based on 50% online feedback and 50% at complete random. I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if they had a roulette wheel set up at Blizzard HQ they use it to decide who gets what buffs and nerfs when.
Now I don't have much time in Overwatch, I just came in for Overwatch 2, and I main Roadhog. Personally, I don't think his DPS is the issue, it's how much his healing can get away with. If the damage reduction was nerfed from 50% to 30%, that could help and encourage less use of it to tank massive ultimates, while still letting him tank things like Riptires and smaller ultimates (I don't know breakpoints so sorry if I didn't do that math right). If you increase his hook cooldown, it would make him play in the back more and make him feel much more lethargic as he waits for his hook to come back and advance.
I'm a roadhog main and I agree, he needs a nerf, but not a huge nerf, maybe slightly lower his damage, less damage reduction on his healing but still have it, and/or maybe have his healing cool down be 10 instead of 8
Another sidenote on why hog being decent is great as solo players who have shit healers and dps team mates are able to carry on their own without being suck in matchmaking hell forever.
as a Roadhog abuser, i wish they would somehow rework Roadhog into a hero that doesn't get value for existing, or rather i would prefer if they reworked him so it actually requires skill to play the character. Currently Roadhog is free SR, doesn't care about teamplay, absurd to play against in a random competitive setting, and borderline braindead to play especially in comparison to almost every other tank in the game. All of these things need to change.
I'm a hog one trick and I only play the game for hog. No other hero is as rewarding, not even close. Hog has had his one shot forever but just NOW people are crying. The actual fault of hog being "op" is that Blizzard made the wise decision to remove the 2nd tank, meaning kills are much more impactful. I've never met a soul that said Hog was viable in OW1. Him being op in OW1 is a myth and you know it. His one shot should STAY, but it should be made much harder to land. Also revert Take a Breather.
I find it interesting how only ramattra is the only overwatch 2 character to have a more normal hitbox… when he was a concept from overwatch 1 for a while with him being in that cutscene. Just makes me wonder just how different is the overwatch 2 team from the original across the board: character concepts, lore ideas, animation, etc…
He obviously could one shot in overwatch one. Deaths feel more impactful because there is only one tank. Nerfing roadhog is so wild, he literally has no movement, has maybe 12-15 meters of range at best, and has one of the worst shotgun spreads in the game.
I just think that hog is fine right know, I don’t think he needs a nerf I think that the problem that everyone have with hog is that there is no 2 shield and that makes hog stronger but I don’t think that should be a reason to counter him
I feel like I’m the only one in this boat but doom feels relatively the same as he did last season of course the slow from his ult and extra charge fist damage is noticeable but idk I think people needed a nudge to really appreciate him ( although I guess that nudge meant nerfing pretty much all other tanks :/ ) still tho he don’t really feel all that different as a doom main Edit: I just wanna be clear what I mean by this is that he’s way too much in spotlight when he’s not that better than he was before I feel like if players keep complaining that he’ll be put into an even worse state than season 1, at least I don’t get harassed now for picking him and securing picks is easier
roadhog is just realy hard to balance in the format of 5V5 it is easy to make him unstopable beast that will be in your dreams as the worst nightmare or make him a useless pig in your team that asks to be killed, so actually the same situation we have with doomfist right now in season 1 everyone was saying he is useless and now in season 2 everyone is saiyng he is OP
Why does Blizzard not publish character stats in an accessible manner? How much does a hero's M1 do / ability damage numbers / ability durations / ability cooldowns / ability interactions ie can or can't penetrate shield / projectile vs hitscan vs laser vs spray / health / armor (and how it works) / overhealth (and how it works) / I could go on and on and on but you see what I mean.
it feels like they over tune each character, like the hero is in a vacuum, but overwatch isnt about the vacuum, its about the team composition, and thats why hog is dominating
The problem with roadhog is that he can get away with horrible positioning because of his heal. His one shot is fine because it's a skill shot that can be played around, the problem is his healing which can save him from bad positioning. Take away his heal, give him just damage reduction, even increase the duration of it, and you'll see a much more balanced roadhog that actually works better because he has to work with his team.
They should double the cooldown on hook or change hook hitbox, reduce the healing to 250 and reduce pellet damage for Hog IMO. I think he'd be more balanced that way.
Reduce the healing to 250 and require him to stand still while using it. Keep hook on the same cooldown Keep pellet damage/one shot potential Keep hook range. If hog is still op after those changes reduce hook range little by little each week until he’s balanced out that way we don’t have the doom scenario where they make a bunch of changes just to have to re-nerf/buff him one patch later
@@chillysanders4415 i agree. i think hog is a very feast or famine character, but the famine part is mostly not there right now. He just needs to be smacked down a little, not completely reworked ala orisa - i fucking hated that rework on principle. completely changing a character, fuck anybody who liked her original design.
The thing about the small hitboxes of the new heroes is because they think characters need to be atractive and these ones happened to be female, thats why they are more short and thin compared to their male counterparts.
After the season 2 patch notes dropped I uninstalled and so did almost all my friends.. They had opportunities to make adjustments.. And it’s so important this early in the games lifespan to make obvious adjustments when needed and they failed on a massive level
I knew literally instantly in OW2 that tracer had more range. I couldn't tell if it was a placebo tho because less shields + less people in your way = more pew pew on squishies. I don't main her or anything but just zipping around training grounds I was like "hold up.... I'm frying from like 20ft away" 🤣
It’s always been like this. Blizzard just constantly goes merry o go round with buffs & nerds. The idea of OW2 though is stupid. A season should not focus on creating new metas by making outrageous changes do tweaks not broken stats.
im a doom main been so since he released in ow1 but overbuffing a character for the sake of them being meta for a season is incredibly boring. nobody wants to fight the same hero over and over
as much as I love tracer being back at 6, I think I could accept a return to 5 if they reduced her spread. there was times where I would try and one clip a mercy while she stands there and uses rez and it wouldn't quite kill her, letting her get rez off and leaving me in a 2v1
Im pretty sure they intentionally make changes like that to force a new meta, to make the game feel different and new, and probably make people want to continue playing. I think they Especially do these when they want a certain meta during the OWL season, to make it different and more exciting to watch.
Doomfist needed his massive buff. He was straight up useless unless your playing against people on their first week of the game..so glad he got his buff. I think rocket punch should be even stronger 😅
I think Hog would be in a good place if kiriko wasn't so enabling of his kit. Her cleanse makes him viable. Her ult makes his ult and entire kit broken. Fixing how his ult interacts with hers, and tweaking the amount of cooldown her ult decreases would make him far less meta.
They did say half of those doom changes were already live, just never written in patch notes. They didn’t actually do all those changes this season, which is stated right under all of the changes. Read the patch notes in depth- he needs a nerf cuz nobody should be able to pick up doom and instantly own.
You say that Hog breaks the game (and he is problematic), but imo Sombra is even worse. Maybe I'm alone in this, but I honestly think she either needs a full rework, or should be removed from the game entirely. At least in OW1 there was some risk to hacking, since it would make her visible. But now she's only sorta visible for a second or two. All she has to do is peek around a corner, hack someone, then duck back behind the corner. She can run around with complete impunity hacking people left and right. And thanks to the new pinging system (which I do like) she's able to constantly update her team on enemy locations, no mic required. The devs got rid of stuff like Mei's freeze and Cassidy's flashbang because it was "annoying," but there's nothing more infuriating than having a Sombra running around constantly shutting down tanks and supports. And god forbid you get placed in a Mystery Heroes match where the enemy team has multiple Sombras. inb4 git gud
it pissed me off how they thread more difficult characters. while the simple playable characters are way better than more difficult playable characters, Moira, sym, mei running arround with 0 skill afford while having a auto tracking weapon or gadgets ( sym). they nerf genji because he benefits to much from the passive role abillity, but then they decide to remove the passive role abillity but still leave genji with the nerfs untouched why?? give him atleast his dmg back, or even hanzo! what is this random bow knockback? they destroying high skilled characters and buffing the easiest characters up to the top. it feels not rewarding mastering a high skilled characters look at other games mastering a high skilled characters feels rewarding (LoL) bu in overwatch they make it opposite arround. and iam not saying the more easy playable characters should be bad, but it can not be that characters who afford more skill to play are much badder than simple characters.
This aged like milk (after the doom nerfs) so let me say some things, 1 doom was not broken, he was a top tier tank, but not broken, hog and Winston were still better choices, easier and give more value more often, and they said they want each season to have a meta but as soon as doom becomes meta he gets nerfed to the ground and his main counter (hog) won’t get nerfed till JANUARY
I just got a 2 week suspension for abusive chat but I didn't say anything suspendable. I was solol que and my team of 4 pre-made got mad I asked them to stop focusing the tank so they all reported me and now I got a 2 week suspension. I appealed it. If it doesn't get over turned im quitting overwatch 2 and will make a UA-cam video about it.

Roadhouse needs a rework, let him keep his iconic hook but remove his ability to oneshot people. Change his heal to be something like dooms or ramaria block and the hero should be fine
Okay, so I am somewhat bias because I main Roadhog lol, but I must disagree a bit on your take on Roadhog. Yes, he can one-shot all DPS, has self-healing, and can generally do what he wants, but he has SUPER hard counters. Ana sleep dart/grenade completely shut him down. Sombra greatly cripples him with hack. Zenyatta can tag him with discord to weaken him. Sigma, Doomfist, and an opposing Roadhog can interrupt his healing with their rock, punch, and hook. All of this combined with his massive hitbox can make him so fragile, even when he is supported. Countering Roadhog is all about interrupting his rhythm and/or blitzing him. With his abilities disrupted, he is forced to retreat, if he even survives. Of course its easier said than done, but it is doable and fair for most players. Without his breather and one-shot, his value is greatly reduced. He is playable, but he fells behinds other tanks easily.
his weaknesses are just not there rn because of kiriko... truthfully its the suzu that is breaking him. invulnerability+cleanse+dmg is too much for one instant use ability.
@@pinkmann8399 Suzu is great for Roadhog, but that still depends on tracking Hog's cooldowns, managing Kiriko's own, AND landing the shot, Plus Kiriko's suzu was just nerfed from a sec to .75 of a sec I believe. It's not fair to severely cripple and even rework a character believe because a single ability. In my opinion.
It's not the same team making all the modern changes to OW2. Many original members have left for greener pastures. I'm not a fan of how OW2 has been handled at all. It was never designed to be how it currently is and making such drastic changes like removing so much CC while leaving in mobile or high-damage heroes shows that. They run rampant. It's team death match. I say this as someone with over 2,000 hours on this game. It's just not fun to play anymore. People cried about CC and shields, but the game was completely designed with all of that in mind. Removing them just made everyone more or less the same and support heroes are miserable to play. They also didn't take into account how any of this would affect the arcade modes because those games are beyond busted now.
One thing I find really interesting comparing to OW1 is how much people are deepthroating and parroting what streamers are saying... "If my strimmer says it, it must be true!". This has always existed, but in OW2, once one streamer says something is wrong, then *everyone* agrees. Look at doom as an example. Playing (and fighting) him, he doesn't even feel that much of an issue but some people are absolutely blowing it out of proportion like he's the 2nd coming of jesus or some shit
I don't wanna be toxic or start anything but I need to say that, UA-cam always promote for me "Flats" videos, he's a good player, tho, I watched a lot of his videos and his pov on the game is really bad, and worse thing is that he have about 400K simps in bronze that listening to his shouts even when they're clearly does not effecting them at their elo.. He always criticizing the game in the worse way possible, threaten to quit and make his simps to support him. In the other hand, we have A10 which is in my opinion way better player, and with clearly better understanding on the game, meta etc.. I'm serious, when A10 called that Hog is broken long time ago, flats said he's garbage until he saw him on owl not far from today.. and he always makes fakes promises while he claims he knows more than he can tell because he's involved or something.. Anyways what I'm trying to say, I wish A10 had more recognition.. love your videos, love your insights.
While i do think Roadie needs to be toned down i don't really trust blizzard with balancing him at all. Roadhog is a very selfish tank who gives up alot in order to have his massive dps potential. Personally i dont think the one shot is the issue, but his survivability being the issue along with kiriko enabling him to do so. I think they should look at his survivability and possible health pool before they touch any part of his kit maybe nerfing his heal from 350 to 250 or 200 so he cant just shake off damage. Buffing counters like sigma may also yield a simiar result. Ana is seeing a bit more play with her new buffs and she's a big counter to roadhog.
@@natibot his punch is 4 seconds and has been since launch
@@zoovaado7759 Then buffed it to 3 seconds now
Knife and Hook are 2 different things.
Yeah hes the best ow guide youtuber. Probably ever
to be fair his entire channel is dedicated to only guides, most other channels mix in guides with other content. SO as a guide 1 trick, he should be the best
@@iTeHee haha i like the term guide one-trick. Also i agree his advice is leagues above most others superficial tips and tricks
You clearly don’t watch bastionmain
Hey there, if u call someone wise u better say "His *guidings* aren't..."
Imo hog should be a high risk high reward character and not this unkillable walking threat.
they’re stupid that’s why
Yeah, meta slaving and playing characters for the sole reason of them being strong is pretty lame imo
I main Tracer. For once she is considered the absolute meta but after 1 week she get nerfed again.
@@bigbadlara5304 for once? Tracers been Mets multiple times she’s the whole reason brig was created because she was so strong lol
Yeah I think overwatch player genuinely can't think for themselves and just agree with whatever the mob mentality is. I think a lot of the top OW content creators are to blame for this. Lately Flats has been spewing so much bs about the state of each character and everyone agrees with him when he is clearly proven wrong about almost every thing he says after a day or two and no one calls him out for it
I think a big problem is the fact that 8/10 ow2 videos I see are all talking about the terrible state of ow2, this speaks volumes about the state of game and the fact that blizzard hasn't done anything drastic to change the opinions of most players is crazy to me
If I didnt already play ow2 I'd be put off from all of those videos and I bet many are already
Blizzard got me wanting to play OW1 back again lmao
This is one of the first of your videos I have seen in a long time, you’re public speaking / UA-cam voice skills has gotten incredibly good!!
Ive been occupied with studying and life but I hope you’re keeping well and that your wrist has healed well. Take care Alex!
Thanks Mrdx, good to see you man! My arms are still messed up but I am so motivated to eat, workout and take care of myself to make better content. I was really nervous about this video because I did it in one take and just spoke my mind, so it makes me very happy that you (and others) think it was good
You are one of the two youtubers that does not talk in a toxic form regarding this game. Precise and to the point, and unbiased.
Keep it up mate
who is the other? freedo?
As a roadhog main, I've waited 6 years for this day. I can finally use the character and people actually ask me to play roadhog.
Don't want to get hooked? Be better at positioning.
Only thing that needs a nerf is his survavility.
Better positioning? The hook is 3 miles long. And its not like we can bully him out of a position, ana literally cant miss heals on him and he has his own anyway.
He's unkillable and one shots from across the map. The only counter now is ana.
plus kiriko allow him to be more carefree without having to worry about cc
Imagine being a roadhog main
I’ve seen so so many people quitting due to broken hero’s that keep showing up. They ruined tanks completely they don’t protect their team they are so frustrating to play and play against.
Tanks can still protect?
@@invasivepenguin8560 absolutely but it’s not the meta you get punished most of the time. I’m just repeating what others have said. I’ve seen at least 20-25 people quit dude to the current status of the game.
@@Gwallacec2 It just depends on the tank. DVA is still very peel oriented, but personally I find the old-fashioned idea of the entire team hiding behind double shields to be a good riddance.
@@TheButterMinecart1 It's not just double shield, it's making new heros give teammates a QOL. Not doom or ball just leaping across the Map while the supports play DBD.
Me as a new player, when I joined this community it felt like a walked into a old married couple fighting
High skill characters are often bad because they’re OP in the right hands. The counter intuitive thing is nerfing those characters only make those one tricks stronger when they eventually get buffed. Meaning new players struggle to learn said hero, while older one tricks dominate until the character gets nerfed again.
playing a high skill characters just dont feel awarding anymore, they destroying the game day for day
I’m not a fan of Rammatra’s ultimate.
The only counter-play options against his ultimate from what I can tell are:
- get out of his range so his ultimate runs out (which you can’t do in OT).
Cheers mate
@@BuffNesquikBunny Agreed, can't wait for this meta to end.
Thats right - Orisa from Overwatch 1 baby… They just stole her shield and gave it to Ram…
And let's not even discuss a Sojourn.
He has the same issue going on as Pudge in Dota 2 where the hero is popular because people deem him “fun to play”, not because he’s “meta”.
it's refreshing to see a positive ramattra take, from what I see most high elo players think he's weak numbers wise
It makes me not wanna play the game anymore because it means that not only am I wasting my time just by gaming, but the wasted time I spend is even more wasted.
the problem with hog is skill floor is too low. problem with sojourn is skill ceiling too high.
I'm surprised i played for a month before quitting
Cool...
Just one static meta of unfun heroes to play against.
i swear that p5 bgm is the most used bgm in all the youtube comment/discussion type video especially in the anime/game scenes. AND IM LOVIN' IT
Yeah, Rammatra is by far the best balanced hero released post ow2.. (and even more than some of the last couple heros in ow1).
Nothing balanced about his ultimate
at 5:29, what do you mean you can't wait for him to come out? Is this an old video or am i missing something cause he's already live?
You had me up to the "honest / dishonest" bs. I come from the FGC and those terms are bullshit.
The Eclipse Leona dance music distracted me from the points you made. Great video.
Just makes me wonder just how different is the overwatch 2 team from the original across the board: character concepts, lore ideas, animation, etc…
great discussion vid, would love more like this. also, what's the song that played towards the end of the vid? :o really loved it
He obviously could one shot in overwatch one. Deaths feel more impactful because there is only one tank. Nerfing roadhog is so wild, he literally has no movement, has maybe 12-15 meters of range at best, and has one of the worst shotgun spreads in the game.
apex does this too to sell the characters heirloom, but i kinda like when some characters get there moment in the spotlight
I just think that hog is fine right know, I don’t think he needs a nerf I think that the problem that everyone have with hog is that there is no 2 shield and that makes hog stronger but I don’t think that should be a reason to counter him
Blizzard is balancing around how champions feel to play against, not how they feel to play
this is the exact same kind of mindset that led to double shield and goats too
@@pinkmann8399 factual
I feel like I’m the only one in this boat but doom feels relatively the same as he did last season of course the slow from his ult and extra charge fist damage is noticeable but idk I think people needed a nudge to really appreciate him ( although I guess that nudge meant nerfing pretty much all other tanks :/ ) still tho he don’t really feel all that different as a doom main
Edit: I just wanna be clear what I mean by this is that he’s way too much in spotlight when he’s not that better than he was before I feel like if players keep complaining that he’ll be put into an even worse state than season 1, at least I don’t get harassed now for picking him and securing picks is easier

How to counter Doomfist as an emotional problem 🥶
roadhog is just realy hard to balance in the format of 5V5 it is easy to make him unstopable beast that will be in your dreams as the worst nightmare or make him a useless pig in your team that asks to be killed, so actually the same situation we have with doomfist right now in season 1 everyone was saying he is useless and now in season 2 everyone is saiyng he is OP
Super interesting how you feel about Ramattra. I feel like his big boy form is really underwhelming.
I like this kind of video. To have this every now and then I think would be nice
"We want each season to be defined by a meta"
As opposed to just being balanced? Meta's arent fun to play against.
Keep hook on the same cooldown
Keep pellet damage/one shot potential
Keep hook range.
The thing about the small hitboxes of the new heroes is because they think characters need to be atractive and these ones happened to be female, thats why they are more short and thin compared to their male counterparts.
i love when a10 says theres not a lot of cc in the game, between rammatra orisa doomfist hog mercy ana and kiriko the whole match is a stun

Good vid. I respect your insight
It’s always been like this. Blizzard just constantly goes merry o go round with buffs & nerds. The idea of OW2 though is stupid. A season should not focus on creating new metas by making outrageous changes do tweaks not broken stats.
im a doom main been so since he released in ow1 but overbuffing a character for the sake of them being meta for a season is incredibly boring. nobody wants to fight the same hero over and over
Even with all the buffs, doomfist is not broken. He still lacks that Tanky feel

Widow also technically has area denial aswell as mobility and a one shot they did end up nerfing soj her area denial only damages now no slow effect
I dunno why so many heroes can 1 shot you, is so frustrating to just pick half a second and die.
as much as I love tracer being back at 6, I think I could accept a return to 5 if they reduced her spread. there was times where I would try and one clip a mercy while she stands there and uses rez and it wouldn't quite kill her, letting her get rez off and leaving me in a 2v1
Wait how was anyoje calling for Sojourn Nerf in OW1 when she wasnt added till OW2
How about not changing the hook but just removing the stun from it????? So you can shoot the hog till he kills you with the wombo combo
20 out of 34 heroes have abilities that can instantly escape hog. shoot, maybe. but they'd need to have abilities locked out.
Hello friend, I joined your Patreon but am struggling to join the discord could you help me out? I think I missed a step, also how can I get a vod review? :D thanks!
discord.gg/pGxdkyYfEr Hey hey - here is the invite link to the discord, it's also above in the description. Also, that's a really good point you make, I will be sure to add the link to the patreon! Then once you are in the discord server just send me a Direct Message and we can set up a time for coaching, all the information is there in the coaching channel
I still have faith in the current dev team. The first step in any great change is assimilation, then innovation.
Love persona music in background :)
I miss the level up system. Just feels greedy to make people pay 10 quid for skins for one hero out of the rest of them.
I'm not sure Tracer had that bug from the start. Even Kabaji said she is garbage. And OWL missed this in scrims?
Sojourns slide was a mistake
Battlepass system is a cash grab. I hate it, and refuse to buy skins or pay to unlock characters.
I agree that the tracer changes should stay, she is still super punishable, but thats the point of her kit-high risk high reward
Honestly make Soujourn and Kiriko easier to hit, that's all they need to do, the current hitboxes require some fourth dimensional aim.
I just dont like the game enough to grind to dia every season
Didn’t you make R6 videos? or am I tripping
Road Is unkillable and can fckng one shot, nerf genji
