One of the things that drew me to your channel is honesty. You are not afraid to show who you are and that is fine...

As a trained chef, I can give you the tip to wrap marinated fish in baking paper or banana leaves and steam it. You can also do this a day in advance. Never let all the water evaporate or the machin will be broken.

Here's an idea for you. Use the back of your benches on the boat for advertisements such as Charmie's nail salon. So when they go to sit down they will all read it. And if you're lucky enough , maybe rent out the space facing outward also.

Yes, giving yourself expectations will be your own drive to meet your own expectations to fulfill your obligations towards your workers. You earn your respect from your workers which result in honest, hard working employees who excel in their jobs since they experience the benefits of hard work showing initiatives to improve. Sure you will experience workers in the future who don’t understand that concept and might disappoint you. But they will serve as an example when they get fired when they become intrusive to the team spirit as a whole whenever an apology isn’t sufficient anymore.
I’m happy to hear your vision because I really hate (foreign) business owners taking advantage of local workers. Happy to hear you have a healthy mindset as how to treat your employees righteous. That surely will return positively 👍🏼

I admire you both, this content is good to watch.First of all I like the idea of Andre to have a food steamer, very practical coz less time & effort in food preparation and the food will not be overcooked when u do it steam. Its nice to have a conversation while eating, I understand you are vlogging... food on the table is a grace from God, as for me it would nice to say 'thank you' for the food that we will partake together. Charmie, Andre will love you more, if u will put crab meat ready on his plate.Take care of Andre. He's a nice person with good ❤

Highly commendable approach to helping family plus building a boat business. Big guy, a hint, looking sharp with your hair cut. Trim your beard, look sharp! You have a distinguished stature, your beard lets you down. Added to which you have a beautiful lady, loose the Troll look be a Sharp Looking Man.

That's a very commendable outlook Andre. The Philippines desperately needs people like you to create employment opportunities and training for locals. When I arranged for an extra level to be added to our family house I found it very frustrating because although on the plus side, labour is cheap but the downside is that hardly anyone has had structured training leading to a qualification which inevitably can lead to some issues surrounding professionalism.

I think Charmie likes crab very much. Is it cheap in the Philippines? Here in the UK, it is very expensive.

Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime. Paying someones monthly salary is for a permanet, full-time employee. All your casual workers could be paid for each job, if they are need and when they are needed.

That’s sad that your kids are ashamed of you using your hands but I can see that they’re not open to your culture and you’re probably hiding while eating with your hands. You should be able to be yourself and at the same time be mindful of what your kids are thinking but if it doesn’t bother you just be yourself and don’t get to what they think of you besides there are foods that are eaten by hands only.

There is an expression you can use when in a disagreement with someone who won't stop, "We can agree to disagree." Also, there is a quote from the American patriot, Thomas Payne, "To argue with someone who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead."

I’m glad you mentioned working rights, basically we all used to be paid overtime rates, and double time for bank holidays, but since Europe has been flooded with migrants happy to work for minimum wage, these agencies pay them pittance. Companies use agencies to avoid contracts and paying higher rates. It’s government legalised corruption, so yes workers stay poor and being controlled by the rich

Andre: You have just described "Capitalism." You added a twist from the American Capitalist, Henry Ford and others. Those American Capitalist help create a middle class that paved the way for Americans, and other Western countries, to prosper. Hope you guys all the best. Make sure you advertise wisely on all Tourist Routes.

I understand where you are coming from regarding employer ethics. Believe me, the ideas that you have are great! We call them normal where we come from (Germany / Netherlands). And for sure, you should try! And I hope you will be the one who succeeds in this endeavour.
Unfortunately I could not. I had to let go of some of the Dutch employer ethics. I started out like you. Also giving employees payed leave for birth of their child. Unfortunately it is not the way how it works in the Philippines (mind you, I know I am generalizing and that is dangerous), however as an employer since 2008:
    1) Employees are short-term minded. It's what they can earn today and not tomorrow. If you give them money for a day without clients, they might not even come back the next day. I am not talking about Charmie's brothers and family, because that is different.
    2) The work ethos is also like that. It's impossible to motivate workers by promising a bonus for a job well done or faster. They just want to be paid by the day.
    3) Be aware that they will steel your materials if you don't pay attention. Look in warehouses when you see employees leaving the premises? They all have to go passed a guard who will pat them down to see if they don't steel! Ever seen that in Germany or the Netherlands?
    4) Finally, most Filipinos are not looking for long term employment. They want money, sure. And some will be able to stay longer. But if an employee can earn 5 piso more somewhere else, they just leave you. No negotiation, no upfront warning. They just don't come back. Leaving you standing there. There is no loyalty. It might also happen when there is something they call an emergency. This can also be having a party and staying out late.
Employees are not protected in the Philippines. There are laws, but nobody cares. I know from people working without one day vacation for many years. The moment they ask for a leave, they got fired!
Finally, the Filipino bosses (from smaller businesses) are actually the worst, shortly followed by the Chinese. Korean, Japanese and Western foreigners have higher employer standard. The reason is simple: "if you don't do what I say, I will find someone else within 10 minutes." Everybody has a family member or friend who gladly take their place.
Again, good luck Andre and Charmie! If we stop trying, for sure nothing will ever change. I honestly hope your experiences will be better than mine.
