Sorry to burst some people's bubble, but it's all staged. The potatoes are not only not attached to the roots when dug out. But they are all the same size also. That never happens on a real potato plant when havested. You will always have some large, some medium, and some small potatoes in the mix. That is a fact I know for certain because I have grown potatoes many times.

The video is a hoax. Never would all potatoes have the exact same size. They are bigger and smaller and they all are still connected with roots to the green. The green is very small. It has to be really big, it has some blossoms and when the potatoes are grown the green looks kind of weakened.. You may try this but don't expect anything.

What about a laundry basket, maybe from a dollar store? You can cut those up as you will, if you need to put something on it, then tie it. Also, using Trichoderma is genius.
Personally I'd be careful to grow in wooden or clay containers. Not all plastic is food grade . Cancer cells grow 2x faster in a plastic petri dish than they do in a glass one . In fact I don't even trust food grade plastic
You know, if you attached those diagonal braces with wood screws, you could temove them at least as easily without damaging them or the rest of the pallet/crate.
