@@therealslimsonnyI agree. I think Jon is right too the mixing on this is what makes it horrible. Music itself isn’t great for Em’s standards, but he sounds off. Songs like River are corny. It’s 1 thing for him to collaborate with Rihanna, but Ed Sheeran? Haha. He seems like a nice guy. Have nothing wrong with him. But Em’s whole brand was based on hating mainstream acts (*NSYNC, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, etc). To come back yrs later and do a feature with basically Gen z’s version of them is kinda weak. I love Em too, but just being honest. I’m moderate politically too, but 1 against Trump was so forced and corny as well. Like I said, you throw in all that with god awful production and it makes it by far his worst album. I’d prob say his 2nd worst is Encore, but there is a pretty decent gap. Mockingbird, Toy Soldiers were on it and stupid songs like Ass Like that can be listened too in a joking manner. There’s just nothing enjoyable about this.
Actually a pretty good way of putting it it is definitely his worst album but I still wouldn’t say it’s inherently bad I like at least 7 songs on it and that’s gotta count for something
I’m always surprised when people don’t like Believe. I don’t really care for the album overall but that song is a 10 to me. Castle/Arose is arguably the best concept he ever came up with for a song. Amazing. The album overall is… below average, even as a massive Eminem fan. Some songs like Heat are amongst the worst songs I’ve ever heard in my life.
The amount of times I sighed watching this damn video. I pirated this album early when it leaked before school, this single handedly introduced me to the idea that an album could be bad. I remember sitting there after finishing it just stunned. I listened to it over all night hoping it would grow on me and it never did.
I remember when this album dropped I was 14 years old and I was a BIG Eminem fan. While I was listening to this album, I kept trying to force myself to like each track even though I knew they weren't good at all. By the end of it, I just had to accept that it was trash and it made teenage me very sad 💀 (I still like the last 2 songs tho)
30:33 Actually, yes. Not the rest of the album, but Offended has an incredible wordplay and catent changes that can't be found in other songs. It is actually my no 2 favourite Em track after Alfred's theme from Music to be murdered by Side B. I would add other tracks like Walk on Water, River, Bad Husband, Framed, Castle, and Arose. I really like Walk on Water and Framed. The thing is, when anyone tries to listen the whole album for the first time one song after the other, it feels awful because of conceptual repetition and underwhelming music production. Try breaking down the wordplay, catents, rhyme schemes in Offended.
Does Eminem know music is supposed to sound good? Like what the f*** happened after 2013? This man has 0 idea of what a good song sounds like. Not talking about lyrics and punch lines, but the sound aspect completely disappeared nowadays
I don't understand what is up with the mixing on this album, MMLP2 kinda has the same issue for me, The Eminem Show which came out 10 years before sounds much cleaner and fresh than those two
In California, mostly in LA and the surrounding areas, people wear khakis with creases in them ironed in with starch. This, combined with converses or Chuck Taylors, and flannel shirts combine to make the signature LA gang-culture outfit. That’s why pressure, increases (in creases) like khakis.
In answer to your question regarding liking this album, I like Framed, In Your Head and Castle. Offended isn’t awful but I feel you on it. Hooks ruined a lot of okay-ish songs on this album
I would’ve thought the album was bad anyhow, but did it really need to be ONE HOUR AND SEVENTEEN MINUTES??? Imo, only real good part of this album is Beyoncé’s hook on Walk on water
Every time I see a reaction video to a horrible album, there's always someone in the comments that feels special by saying they like it and have a different opinion than others. But liking this album is just.... unjustifiable
I get the subjectivity of music, but some things are just so grating that I can't understand finding them enjoyable to listen to. This album is that tier of music.
People are such drama queens with this album Jesus Christ. They act like any joke Eminem makes is cringe now and ask why he does it like he wasn’t making corny jokes his whole career. They’ll crap on one song for having jokey lyrics then sing the real slim shady like come on man lol.
Honestly though, his bars on this album are incredibly cringe. Not to mention the awkward flows, awful production and mixing, boring/bad hooks, repetitive topics, tone deaf & hypocritical messaging... it's clear why this album is hated, the reaction is not overblown.

Regarding what u said about liking the album I somewhat enjoy it I have it as a 5/10 in his discography and my top songs are Offended Believe Castle Arose Need me In your head Walk on water and Bad husband River
I don’t why ever Em adopted this flow where it sounds like someone’s in the booth stabbing him with a fireplace poker while he’s rapping. At some point it doesn’t matter if the lyrics are good if the delivery is totally trash.
i’m not sure how to pinpoint it exactly but this album sounds like an action movie soundtrack. if you played any of these songs over clips of vin diesel monologuing i would believe that these are fast and furious filler songs
Besides Tragic Endings (although it sounds like a Recovery throwaway) Castle and Arose I also couldn't stand this album. First time I've felt that way about any Em project (Encore had some great moments).
I fully understand this album is terrible, but as a lifelong Eminem fan I kinda forced myself to like it lol. Most of it I straight up dont like but I still run back Believe, Walk On Water, Offended, and Nowhere Fast on occasion. Sometimes I spin Castle and Arose back to back if I'm feeling particularly emotional lol
I actually like River and listen to it and i really like Pink's part on need me. Castle and Arose are really well written but I never come back to them. Remind me is me least favorite em chorus and thats saying A LOT
I’m an em fan but I’d say revival was bad. There are a couple of good songs. But em and a lot of his Stans needed to know that a couple of good songs do not make a good album And as a black man myself I do appreciate what em was trying to do with revival.(I think someone else said this in the comments already). 24:49 And I really love this joke😂

Jon say on some songs that "Rick Rubin produced so the production is gona be good", but i think that most of the production go wrong, with the hooks.. Some tracks i like, but the hooks not so much. On Em songs you need to pay attention to lyrics, he emphatizes that, but some songs need the other parts to function well.
This easily could’ve just been a Short LP with Walk on Water, River, Believe, Framed, In Your Head, Castle and Arose. Think it would’ve been better that way.
@@AndrewLeonard46 don’t have a problem with any songs I mentioned they are decent, it’s the pointless pop feature songs that weigh the album down massively

Idk what he was going through at this time and where his internal compass was. This album is so bad. Almost everything about it was not good. I just remember hearing it and being genuinely upset at the time and Im not a strong critic when it comes to music. I usually always find some value or a positive aspect of an album.
There are like 5 or 6 songs of this album that i really enjoy. They are good. But when listening to the whole album... it makes even the good songs annoying
To me this entire album is caught in such two apposing minds. The Rick Rubin side and a softer pop side with some attempts of the trap sounds sprinkled on top. It keeps switching on you so it never allows you to get into it and feel the vibe. Like, do yourselfs a favour, look up every song with Rick Rubin in the credits and just listen to those. It's still questionable at times but you can get into it and it really makes you wonder why he didn't just stick with that for a full album's concept, and just have it be focused. But to me it's such a clash with the likes of the Pink song and it doesn't complement each other. Whether you're into a beastie boy kinda style or not, it's a night and day difference in objective quality in the productions and guitar riff samples done by Rick and the ones he didn't touch. To this day I really feel like there could've been a cool concept album if he really just went all in on Rick Rubin instead of this unfocused mess. Now it's a weird mix of rock rap with trap but there's no rapper features, only pop features which pulls the whole thing towards a weird mainstream middle-ground that no one really cares for while his whole thing is that he's a rapper rapper..
I agree. The album has no flow or cohesion whatsoever except for the last 3 tracks. It jumps from this super muddy, skeletal trap to cheesy Rubin produced rap rock to super glossy pop rap and back again. It can’t decide if it wants to be an anti-Trump album, a super personal record about his anxieties and place in modern hip-hop or a Licensed to Ill/80s Rubin rap throwback. I think even if the songs were great and had no issues whatsoever, the album would still have a totally disjointed and incoherent flow. The only run of songs that makes sense is In Your Head > Castle > Arose and that’s because they all more or less deal with the same topic and sonically sound quite alike. MMLP2 had a similar feel where it was jumping from topic to topic and sound to sound but that album at least had an overarching tone and feel to it that made the songs feel connected whereas here they’re all over the place
I love ‘Em, but I really don’t know how he ever thought this was a releasable album. It’s not only the worst Em album, but one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard. I can’t believe this is from the same guy who wrote The Way I Am, Stan, Lose Yourself, and Mockingbird.
LMAO the title, I feel you, I'm a big EM fan but this album (production wise, cause that's its main problem) I just can't it's impossible to listen to, except Castle and Arose which are gems on their own. SO SO GLAD Em came back with Kamikaze and especially MTBMB A side and B side which are absolute fire and shows why he is still the GOAT of rap even past 50 YO.
Don't f with Arose personally but Castle is as good as Em gets, it's just goosebumps all throughout Regarding Revival - content is great, regardless of beats and production

@@zcany I'm not saying his sentiment wasn't bad, but Em's ability to execute his intentions musically has gone waaaaaay down over time. This is generally seen as one of the worst rap albums of the past few years. Not saying it's bad at its core, but it's annoying, long and full of corny bars
@@sleep6837 Half the album is great, the other half is terrible, overall it's not as bad as people claim.
I really wish he'd re-record Believe. It's my favorite track from him, ever, but yeah your points are valid, it's pooly mixed and mastered.
I can’t believe somebody’s favorite Eminem song is Believe
@@johnsolly5838I liked offended without the bad hook
I have to admit, I don’t think Revival is Em’s worst album. It’s not his best by any means, but I really enjoy songs like River, Bad Husband, Tragic Endings, Framed, and Need Me. I know there are a few questionable songs but I don’t let them define the entire album. I truly don’t understand why Revival gets so much hate
What is the em's worst album then? Revival is the worst.
@@therealslimsonny personally I’d say Music to be Murdered By: Side A is the worst. That one just feels kinda boring to me, most songs feel like he’s rapping just for the purpose of rapping
@@caleblandes9715 Dont do drugs. Flows and beats are insane on this album even if I prefer the Side B.
@@BrooksOrlando FACTS. I appreciate that!!! Liked ur answer bro, thank you!!!
Revival is like the cod: infinite warfare of eminems discography
Actually a pretty good way of putting it it is definitely his worst album but I still wouldn’t say it’s inherently bad I like at least 7 songs on it and that’s gotta count for something
@@xoseeghosts there’s noway you publicly said that
I’m always surprised when people don’t like Believe.
I always liked this record… it was very satisfying for his fans who are invested In his personal story
Exactly
yep so people like this reactor can stay far away from it and doesn‘t have to pretend to be a fan for clicks
The amount of times I sighed watching this damn video. I pirated this album early when it leaked before school, this single handedly introduced me to the idea that an album could be bad. I remember sitting there after finishing it just stunned. I listened to it over all night hoping it would grow on me and it never did.
Why are you doing this to yourself Jon, I wouldn’t let my worst enemy to suffer like that
Exactly
I remember when this album dropped I was 14 years old and I was a BIG Eminem fan. While I was listening to this album, I kept trying to force myself to like each track even though I knew they weren't good at all. By the end of it, I just had to accept that it was trash and it made teenage me very sad 💀 (I still like the last 2 songs tho)
I know I'm late but this comment had me in tears laughing 😂😂😂😂😂
Whenever I hear this album I can only think of the guy who does the Eminem impression on Tik Tok.
Eminem became a caricature of himself
Literally only thing that goes through my head
I like a couple songs from this record, namely Believe, Chloraseptic, Framed (I don't mind the hook), Offended (Minus The Hook), Castle and Arose.
Try breaking down the wordplay, catents, rhyme schemes in Offended.
brother who cares about word play 😂😂
@@miner1430any lyrical rap enjoyer? Like what?
The album is for sure not one of his best but Castle and Arose are up there with some of the best songs he’s ever wrote
Believe is still such a great song.
Does Eminem know music is supposed to sound good? Like what the f*** happened after 2013? This man has 0 idea of what a good song sounds like. Not talking about lyrics and punch lines, but the sound aspect completely disappeared nowadays
Certainly an album that exists
Definitely one of the albums of all time
Stfu, you’re favorite rapper is an mumble rapper who moans and screams in the mic. You know nothing about hip hop
I don't understand what is up with the mixing on this album, MMLP2 kinda has the same issue for me, The Eminem Show which came out 10 years before sounds much cleaner and fresh than those two
24:50 sums it up in a second tbh
The absolute disrespect of Castle is disgusting to be honest..as much as the rest of the album is doo doo
Thanks for the chuckles. Your pain was certainly entertaining.
In California, mostly in LA and the surrounding areas, people wear khakis with creases in them ironed in with starch. This, combined with converses or Chuck Taylors, and flannel shirts combine to make the signature LA gang-culture outfit. That’s why pressure, increases (in creases) like khakis.
I love Believe, but I wish he would redo it so the vocals weren't so poorly mixed.
In answer to your question regarding liking this album, I like Framed, In Your Head and Castle. Offended isn’t awful but I feel you on it. Hooks ruined a lot of okay-ish songs on this album
Hope you get better. Billy woods Maps is a great refreshment after this album
Highly seconded.
5:35 Lmao best way to describe the beat, some "Dark Trap Moody Type Beat"
I would’ve thought the album was bad anyhow, but did it really need to be ONE HOUR AND SEVENTEEN MINUTES???
Imo, only real good part of this album is Beyoncé’s hook on Walk on water
Beyoncé’s hook and bridge are beautiful, I won’t lie
I never skip Offended when it comes on. Lol
This album sucks. But Framed is fire. I don't know wtf you're talking about with that one.
Rick Rubin was the executive producer for the whole album btw lol
He was also the executive producer of MMLP2, I don't know what happened behind the scenes with this record, while MMLP2 is better than Revival.
Every time I see a reaction video to a horrible album, there's always someone in the comments that feels special by saying they like it and have a different opinion than others. But liking this album is just.... unjustifiable
I was Eminem's biggest fan when this dropped and even I couldn't justify it 💀 shit was undeniably trash
I get the subjectivity of music, but some things are just so grating that I can't understand finding them enjoyable to listen to. This album is that tier of music.
@@JordanMac79 Encore has obviously better songs but nobody's listening to the whole thing. Revival has almost nobody redeeming about it
No your a sheep for hating on this album
I am a huge Eminem fan, but holy shit this album stinks lol , so it does Encore. I love/like all the other albums
tf was em smoking when he made this lmao
If that the case, he's been smoking since last 10 year then
People are such drama queens with this album Jesus Christ. They act like any joke Eminem makes is cringe now and ask why he does it like he wasn’t making corny jokes his whole career. They’ll crap on one song for having jokey lyrics then sing the real slim shady like come on man lol.
And no I’m not a fan of this album, I’m just saying people clearly be going in to hate Eminem sometimes and it’s obvious.
Honestly though, his bars on this album are incredibly cringe. Not to mention the awkward flows, awful production and mixing, boring/bad hooks, repetitive topics, tone deaf & hypocritical messaging... it's clear why this album is hated, the reaction is not overblown.
@@thewubgodI’ll give you hypocritical messaging ,but if you like lyrics and cool beat samples there’s no reason to hate other than be a new Eminem sucks sheep

I think the album is underrated af!
why is the production so bad bruh
walk on water, believe, River, Bad husband, In your Head, Castle, Arose. The rest could have never been made for all I care. Wish he just made an EP
Believe is a great track your tripping bro lol every lines a bar or double entendre. This album is so bar heavy but ive never fucked with the production.
Regarding what u said about liking the album I somewhat enjoy it I have it as a 5/10 in his discography and my top songs are
Offended Believe Castle Arose Need me In your head Walk on water and Bad husband River
I don’t why ever Em adopted this flow where it sounds like someone’s in the booth stabbing him with a fireplace poker while he’s rapping. At some point it doesn’t matter if the lyrics are good if the delivery is totally trash.
i’m not sure how to pinpoint it exactly but this album sounds like an action movie soundtrack. if you played any of these songs over clips of vin diesel monologuing i would believe that these are fast and furious filler songs
i thought that jon already reacted to this album a year ago, but i was wrong 😭 (he listened to ‘relapse’ last year)
Besides Tragic Endings (although it sounds like a Recovery throwaway) Castle and Arose I also couldn't stand this album.
I used to think this was good hip hop, until I started listening to Conway. Jesus, what a difference.
any time I think this album wasn't THAT bad, all I need to do is play 1 song off it to remember
I actually like River and listen to it and i really like Pink's part on need me. Castle and Arose are really well written but I never come back to them. Remind me is me least favorite em chorus and thats saying A LOT
I only know BELIEVE from here. Found it motivating in the gym for years
The Chloraseptic remix somehow clears everything on this album
My brain completely removed this album from existence
I’m an em fan but I’d say revival was bad. There are a couple of good songs. But em and a lot of his Stans needed to know that a couple of good songs do not make a good album
And as a black man myself I do appreciate what em was trying to do with revival.(I think someone else said this in the comments already).

The fact so many Stans defend this trash just because Eminem got butt hurt no one liked this album is hilariously stupid😂

If he never released it it’d be better

Joe Budden was right about this album 😂😂😂
MMLP2 had a similar feel where it was jumping from topic to topic and sound to sound but that album at least had an overarching tone and feel to it that made the songs feel connected whereas here they’re all over the place
framed is fire. only good song on the album
Castle + Arose are amazing
Don’t think you’ll find any Em fans defend the album as it’s THAT bad apart from the few half decent ones like castle and arose
Remember on Not Afraid when Em said "to the fans, I'll never let you down again - I'm back".
If only he was right.
It’s almost impossible to believe this is the same human being that made MMLP.
For me Walk on Water/Castle/Arose are the best songs
