Honestly there's a lot more to explore than Greenfield. There are condos in the Ortigas area. Try and check out the Sapphire Block in Ortigas, it's nearer to Robinsons Galleria. Last we checked units there were priced at 22k for a basic unit. The Greenfield area is too crowded and is near a major road which is Shaw Blvd. So yes humidity there is atrocious. But on the Ortigas side the traffic and humidity isn't as bad as Greenfield.
Sir Mergim, Chairman of the board, I'm one your subscribers, more informative contains creator's, keep up the good work sir 👍💯💪💖 and keep safe and good health 💖💯💪 GOD BLESS PO 🙏💖💯💪
I used to spend my holidays in my in-law’s condo in St-Francis Shangri-la apartments, and loved it there. Huge swimming pool, full gym. Direct connection to Shangri la mall and hotel. My room looked over the Greenfield district, and I enjoyed that area. From memory one of the exits from the mall comes out across the street from Greenfield. There’s plenty of good dining options in Shang mall, and the hotel has live music some nights. The complex is a bit older now, so might be a bit more affordable. One thing compared to BGC and Makati is you won’t see as many expats around, I don’t know if that makes a difference to you. Good luck on your hunt.
Tip: When going to Megamall and Podium you can pass inside Shangrila Mall so you won’t feel warm & sweaty going to Megamall.. and you can also pass inside Megamall until you reach Bldg. A when going to Podium.. those are the locals technique when walking through those malls. We don’t walk outside for 15 mins like you did or we’ll sweat as if we worked out. 3-5mins outside walk transferring between these malls is what the locals do. There are shortcuts in betwen those malls that you only need to walk 3-5 min between them😊
Excellent tip. Many of the buildings in Greenfield District are in fact interconnected. In fact you can get from Twins Oaks Place all the way to Shangri-la without once hitting the busy sweaty streets of Shaw Boulevard in 5 minutes and from Shangri-la to Mega-Mall within another 5 minutes thru the short cuts. Mergim basically took the "circular way" to Mega-Mall that's why it took a good 15-20 minutes.
I like Greenfield/Ortigas better because you are in the middle income nexus of Metro Manila. If you want affordable stuff you can buy from nearby while if you want expensive brand name stuff it is also available nearby. Personally I feel Greenfield/Ortigas is more a neighborhood for upper-miidle class while BGC is for the elites/wealthy.
BGC and Greenfields are incomparable. If you’re looking for cheaper electric check out DMCI properties. Try exploring Brixton and Flair just beside Kalayaan bridge. Just a bit different floor layouts from Megaworld/Greenfields
We can already imagine your beautiful home very soon bro!!! Congratz to your hardworks and thanking you for your amazing journeys that you are sharing to us!
Thank you for bringing to me my first Christmas carol for Christmas’23. In 1960’s to 70’s (Primary and secondary school) we had school carol competitions and Christmas parties (exchanged gifts and beautiful Christmas card)before school Christmas vacation. Then my barangay youth also had caroling to the residents. Thanks again Mergim. All the best.
Saw you before the fireworks. I was with my kid so wasn't able to say Hi. We prefer greenfield because it's in the middle of QC and Makati. So just a quick drive or mrt ride. The kalayaan bridge also made it convenient to go to BGC. Overall, if you want to be in the middle of the metro, greenfield is a great option. If you just want overall convenience packed in 1 city, then go for BGC.
Maybe Eastwood City will have more of a BGC feel? Poblacion area? BGC is more for expats. Looking forward to you exploring areas to give us ideas as well.
There’s no debate if you actually consider convenience vs expenses (if you can afford it, why not?). The joy of walking around, greeting other ppl and the huskies (love them)… and traffic is given when you r in MM, really felt it remotely here. Thanks for showing that. And the firecrackers were amazing, the display of food, and when that choir hit their notes, really gives me full of emotions. Joyful!!! Love the content. And whatever u choose, in the end it’s for your own good. I’m just loving the fact that u r liking the Philippines in general. Good luck and more power to u and ur channel. Have a great one! Love from Pinoy in LA, CA 😍🇵🇭😍🇵🇭
i bought a condo in this area because it’s close to BGC where I work and also condos are much cheaper in Greenfield District loc.. i just cant afford BGC condos 😅 ( it will always be the high end area hands down) so i guess I would agree that if u decide to move, should be because u’ll save a couple of bucks and not the other way around
I used to work there in Crossing for like 2 years. And I love mandaluyong/pasig area because of the malls and the greenfield district park. Whenever I feel stressed out, I just cross edsa walk in the mall. There are too much options for food, and shops. Megamall really got it all for you, I just hope that there are 24/7 shops in the area.
Greenfield cannot replace BGC. In terms of land area, safety, vibe, etc BGC is really ahead. But if you wanted to save more, Greenfield is a good option.
Those living in Greenfield are either working near that area (Ortigas etc) or wanted a very convenient location to and from their work. MRT is there, and the crossing is a very accessible spot. Content creator like you and considering your lifestyle, BGC is more suitable.
As I said before, I have never considered living in BGC, in my almost 11 years living in Manila. I just don't understand the attraction of it. Too expensive and rather antiseptic, people trying to avoid living the actual Philippines reality. How did you have to go to EDSA to get to the Podium???? You go out the back of Megamall and cross the road to get to the Podium. From Greenfields, you don't have to use EDSA at all. There are cut through roads at the backside to get to Megamall, the Podium, Robinsons Galleria. Same for Capital Commons, Estancia, Ayala 30th Mall, etc. Podium to Greenfields is a 10 minute walk through the back streets.
Good morning mergim! nice video man, Merry Christmas, hope you have a wonderful holiday season filled with joy, peace, and love. May your home be filled with laughter and good cheer, and may you be surrounded by the people you love.
From Guadalupe you could've taken the MRT to Shaw Station (2nd stop) then go down on the Greenfield exit. The two places cater to different markets but I feel Greenfield is more organic since it caters more to locals.
True. EDSA is a main thoroughfare of Metro Manila that's why there is gridlock. Hopefully the Manila subway can alleviate the gridlock and the smog once it is built and operational and take some load off EDSA.
Greenfield used to be called EDSA Central an open air mall. it can compete with BGC if they define the sidewalks well and maintain the cleanliness of the place
You can try the Westin, that’s another nice condo in Ortigas, 3 minutes away from SM Megamall. In greenfield you can also check Fame Condo by SM - it has a mall too. and Flare Condo is also nice And there’s another way from twin oaks to megamall, probably 10 minutes walk only
Hi Mergim, Try looking at the St. Francis Shangri-La Towers or at the One Shangri-La Towers, because they have direct access to the Shangri-La Mall and you can walk using the back street (St. Francis Street) to enter SM Megamall thru the supermarket area.
Metro manila has still a long way to go before it becomes pedestrian friendly. Hopefully metro mayors will work together to create a better walking pavement for the pedestrians.
Well unless Metro Manila became an autonomous region like Seoul or Shanghai or other metropolitan cities wherein Metro Manila will have a central govt independent of the National govt power. I felt this is better in a sense that city planners have more autonomy and the different LGUs can function as one centralized govt.
I don't think so Mergim. Each district has its own charm and ambiance. In fact a lot of developments are coming. It will really depend on ones needs and affordability to capture the mind of an end user. Developments like in Pasay wc they call the entertainment area, Parañaque where condos are sprouting. the Subic area, the Quezon city area is also undergoing facelifts. The reclamation area has been halted temporarily but will also resume. By 2090 the Philippines will be included in the top 20 economies. In between today and 2090 significant growths will occur rapidly including the railway system. I just hope that by that time I'm still around. ATM, enjoy what the Philippines has to offer. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas ❤
San Antonio barangay is a small community across the other side of Shaw boulevard. It’s sits the backside of estancia mall and has low rise condos and townhouses. Yo can easily access mega mall from there as well.
Megim, Mandaluyong is like the heart of Metro Manila, you connect to Quezon City going north, Makati going South , Manila and San Juan to the East and Pasig to the west. This town used to be part of the Province of Rizal together with Pasig. The Rizal Capitol building is still there in Pasig,
Hi Mergim ,you're lucky to be in the Philippines .You really can do a lot of content plus the friendly Filipinos who loved to be in the camera .Where as here in Europe is so awful to do vlogging 😁😊.Thank you for sharing and for showing every places in Manila .

Very good analysis mergim. You made a good decision. BGC is a well planned community. Go around BGC and I think you will find the perfect condo not with Megaworld. Try the other developers like Ayala

BGC a well plan and properly design city , it impossible for Greenfield to replace BGC but it can easily replace Makati for tourist to hang around with better parkland ,along the rivers, boulevard ,hotel , street market. Makati more suitable to be a redlight district and financial centre.
I think Greenfield or Ortigas is very old Business District in PH, maybe around in 70s, 80s, or 90s. While BGC is very new, so they should have learned some lessons on Urban planning. I guess PH MMDA has a lot on their plate & lots of work to do.
Other Business District in Metro Manila that is rising the same time with BGC is Aseana & Mall of Asia eCommerce Complex around Manila Bay area, Eastwood City in Libis QC, Filinvest City & Vistaland in Alabang. But that one in CCP Complex Manila along Harbour Square & Sofitel Manila looks like a fail, but we’ll see how it goes.

Yes SM is going all out with the decorations its their 65th year anniversary and they want to attract a lot of people this Christmas season with a lot of 65% off sales. I personally would rather shop at Shopee or Lazada (folks take note personally). I don't want to brave the traffic I would rather stay home and watch UA-cam, Netflix or do knitting. Taking a walk around UPLB campus is also great less people around sometimes it feels like a ghost town but I love it during Christmas.
That’s true Manila is so chaotic - boiling hot n humid the buildings are just good for the eyes but not for good health - you can seldom See trees n plants anymore - it’s all all for the business capitalist money agenda ,- so sad indeed
There's a lot of cheap condos inside Ortigas Center. U might find some cheaper ones in AIC Gold Tower where my sister lives. Though she has 4 bedrooms and 3 toilet&baths unit I think there are smaller units.
No Greenfields is too small to area compared to BGC. The next BGC is in NorthWin Global City near Philippine Arena in Bulacan and the next largest International Airport in Southeast Asia. Megaworld is building it to like 5th Ave in NYC. There would come a time when BGC will be a thing of the past.
Yes, Bulacan is developing so fast, aside from the airport, in San Jose del Monte, new condos and malls, establishments have been built. MRT -7 also extends up to that area.
There's another route going to the podium so you don't have to pass Shangri-la and mega mall. You can also take San Miguel to go to podium But if you ask me, there's no way greenfield can replace BGC.
Mandaluyong mayor gives low priority to pedestrians. While the neighbouring suburb of Pasig City erected some fancy elevated walkways around Ortigas Centre, Mandaluyong declined to connect with this project and retain its Divisoria ambience. It's Third Worldish nightmare.
Yes of course, if you work for Jollibee Corp, UniLab Pharmaceuticals, San Miguel Corp, and ADB- Asian Development Bank, that place is worth it. But personally, I love commuting, so I dont mind going to my South Home commute. or find cheaper rentals, Im pretty sure many Options around that area.
Well, with all the considerations and conveniences (condo rent not included) you are enjoying at the moment in BGC, you are at a certain shooting your feet if you choose to rent at a higher cost and living in an area where hustle & bustle could defo ruin your day & proximity to the malls and shops is not as few steps away from your present. Weigh your options, mate - still no rush, I guess.👍
The real feels of the hustling and bustling Mtro. Mla.😊 That fireworks look like Mandaluyong was under attack! 😂 nice video Mergim thanks for sharing😊❤ yes! BGC retains its chairman 😅
Biggest advantage you can have living in Shaw is your EXPENSES because you're quite close to the Major Malls like SM, Robinson, Starmall and even those the local store ones. Downside? I'd suggest you don't dwell around 11pm onwards at night in areas that doesn't have a lot of people because you're Shaw/Ortigas (Where Greenfield is and near at) is what METRO MANILA really is and with the amount of people, there'll be some spots where it will be kinda dangerous to SNATCHERS, HOLDUPERS etc. when you compare to BGC. Another one was the lack of open space where you can JOG at night and even daytime especially if you want to jog a lil far BUT... if you're planning on staying LONG TERM then probably in like 5 years or more time then there's a good chance for the Ortigas Area to kind of surpass BGC in terms of almost everything because there are a lot of developments happening there and around it's neighbouring places too. For example, Bridgetown which is EAST of Ortigas is a new IT-Park. I heard that they're planning to turn that place into something like a mini-BGC. Then the train lines that are also being develop will probably operation around 5 years time. Overall, Ortigas Area will be like the CENTER of all the business district in METRO MANILA But that is a question of whether or not you're planning to stay for the long term which is obviously a HARD thing to answer honestly
On another note.. are there any 'local' coffee shops? It would be interesting if you did a taste test of local vs corporate coffee shops. I presume starbucks is the one to beat.... For taste and convenience???
I live in the East Tower, high floor. I suggest that if you are to pick a unit, facing Ortigas will be best because it’s way way cooler than the units facing west. I only use AC at night and it stays cool the entire day. But if you don’t mind using the AC for a long time, the other side facing Greenfield is also ok. The advantage of Greenfield to BGC is the connectivity to the MRT that will take you literally anywhere in Manila: Ayala Makati, SM North, U-Belt, Mall of Asia, etc. Greenfield/Ortigas is considered the center of Metro Manila. That said, I still find BGC more convenient for a daily city living if you don’t intend to travel and explore the city all the time.
You can do intros at the Greenfield weekend market space 😉 Try and get some condos with more balcony space (shadow/deeper), then you can settle with fans that resuces cost for ekectricoty a lot 👍🤭
Hi Mergim try featuring Arca South Taguig. Newly built condos around the area. I also agree with your observations that greenfield is more denser and mandaluyong is more polluted than bgc.
Not yet fully developed area. He might find it boring and too far from Makati or BGC for nightlife or other activities. Maybe by 2030 Arca South will be the new popular premium destination.
Ur timing has always been impeccable. What r the chances that the tree lighting and fireworks r on the same day as u just happened to drop by greenfield? Same with the nike events etc. Ur just like a reporter whos always there 🤣

Hi merg. Bgc location is still no. 1 for me. But the greenfield condo is really nice n complete. U can transfer dr n discover the ortigas area even pasig and marikina area. But bgc is bgc hahahha
Hi Mergim. I was on my way to work passing through the street beside that Greenfields Christmas tree when the choir was singing the Christmas carols. If I had gone inside the greenspace area, I might have seen you. But going to Greenfields Shaw Boulevard for a daily commute from Quezon City is easier than going to BGC via Guadalupe or Ayala Avenue. For Filipinos commuting to work, BGC is farther, more expensive, and more time-consuming. You will need to live there inside BGC to enjoy its conveniences but the expensive rent and cost of living is not worth it unless you're wealthy or an expat with foreign-sourced income.
The Christmas Song has given me a goosebumps .Philippine Choir is so amazing 👏👏👏👏.

@@pegasus2215 All those new cities way out of the city centre. It hard to attract tourist unless all the hotels located in the areas.Greenfield within a walking distance to BGC and Makati .
Then you need to see the Bridgetowne between QC and Pasig
Both has charm of their own
The walk from the door to the nearest public transportation would definitely be a consideration to me when deciding on a general area to live.
Merg,that PM(particulate matter) should b ur utmost concern.D chronic exposure 2 that environment is hazardous 2 ur health,plus d danger of d streets.HEALTH & SAFETY IS WEALTH.
Lovin u featuring Manilas concrete jungle.STAY SAFE.
Yes we are very near to NGC. Pre- selling of units are ongoing very affordable. Mergim will be the chairman of Bulacan 😂
There's another route going to the podium so you don't have to pass Shangri-la and mega mall. You can also take San Miguel to go to podium
But if you ask me, there's no way greenfield can replace BGC.
Used to have the best of both worl6. Live in greenfield and work in bgc
😊
SM owns Podium but in luxury mall category.
You're on point Mergim. Wise decision 👍.
Merry Christmas? Not even Christmas yet! Must be nice to be in the Philippines right now. Christmas in October.
It's an older area than BGC, but it puts you in close proximity to Megamall, Ortigas, Greenhills, Makati, and BGC.
You must also visit east wood city its an IT district
Have you seen Capitol Commons? It's a very nice place located in ortigas center, Pasig city.
The real feels of the hustling and bustling Mtro. Mla.😊 That fireworks look like Mandaluyong was under attack! 😂 nice video Mergim thanks for sharing😊❤
yes!
Another one was the lack of open space where you can JOG at night and even daytime especially if you want to jog a lil far
BUT... if you're planning on staying LONG TERM then probably in like 5 years or more time then there's a good chance for the Ortigas Area to kind of surpass BGC in terms of almost everything because there are a lot of developments happening there and around it's neighbouring places too.
For example, Bridgetown which is EAST of Ortigas is a new IT-Park. I heard that they're planning to turn that place into something like a mini-BGC. Then the train lines that are also being develop will probably operation around 5 years time. Overall, Ortigas Area will be like the CENTER of all the business district in METRO MANILA
But that is a question of whether or not you're planning to stay for the long term which is obviously a HARD thing to answer honestly
Great vid again thank you!!!!
Too much people is too much chaos. We all prefer a quiet and less stressfull place
Mergim - The bubble is nice. I would stay in the bubble.
I miss philippines Christmas season
come over then
On another note.. are there any 'local' coffee shops? It would be interesting if you did a taste test of local vs corporate coffee shops. I presume starbucks is the one to beat.... For taste and convenience???
Lots of small coffee shops and cafes around, mostly small enterprises. Places like Caden, Coffee Blanc, etc.
I love Figaro Coffee.
Expect Traditional Christmas lit up everywhere after All Saints Day.Enjoy and more explore entire Metro Manila, take care.
1st😁😁😁
Its possible for the coming yrs
SM Aura is also in BGC which is also a big mall.
Love viewing your videos, thanks so much
Definitely!! Greenfield can replace BGC.. as along as you move in to Greenfield!😊 that's a requirement.!
Mergin, try Makati city area specially in Amorsolo and beacon tower much cheaper
You can do intros at the Greenfield weekend market space 😉
Try and get some condos with more balcony space (shadow/deeper), then you can settle with fans that resuces cost for ekectricoty a lot 👍🤭
I enjoyed watching this vlog especially when you get random interview.
That nice thệ fireworks what a in there it’s looks like a new year already
Mergrim please visit Eastwood I think it's in Quezon City.
Ur just like a reporter whos always there 🤣
BGC is still better for me because it's safer and accessible to restore and groceries
Hello. There is no problem during rainy season in BGC as there are many places to eat or take a temporary shelter. BGC experienced no flooding
This video is great especially the fireworks. But stay in BGC🇺🇸❤️🇵🇭
Watching ur vlog is.like my morning routine. By d way if i may ask, i got confused. During your earlier mpnths in d Phil, you bought a pet bird, right? How was it? And also u bought some furnitures in ur first condo. Are u staying in thay same condo?
Used to have a lot of muggers on that Kalayaan Bridge. An officemate of mine, big guy, works out, was mugged in that area way back 2009. Not sure nowadays though.
Hi merg. Bgc location is still no. 1 for me. But the greenfield condo is really nice n complete. U can transfer dr n discover the ortigas area even pasig and marikina area. But bgc is bgc hahahha
air , transportation, convenience, not crowded area, restaurants etc. I like BGC, Location Location Location. BGC is BGC
It's a very subjective decision. For me, I'd probably stay in BGC. Living a comfortable lifestyle for me is superior to having a nice apartment.
🎉😢. Miss Manila
Hi Mergim, good decision on your part after weighing your options. The BGC Chairman stays. It's what works for you personally really. 👍
