Hi UA-cam,
This is part one of my 2 part build of Rye Field Model's 1/35 Sherman M4A3 with full interior. In this video I will be fully assembling the model and painting/weathering the interior. I still have some bits of the interior yet to complete, but these will be addressed in part 2. - Навчання та стиль
Thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you.
I think uncle Nightshift would be very impressed with your work
Hi Nigel, Not sure about that, he is a master of armor!
@@ScaleModelShed this is true... But you are still a very good model maker 👍👍👍👍👍
@@nigelsmith7366 Thank you!
Unbelievable. When I saw you drill the 30 cal barrel freehand, I knew this was going to be a wild ride. Excellent, outstanding. Thanks
I have to use jigs made of rolled up paper and a manually operated pin vise. That freehand feat was amazing.
@@dbcooper2756 great tip. Thanks

Jumped out of any B727's lately? 😋
Haha!
A truly beautiful job Andy! The interior, and indeed the entire model, are outstanding!
I would love to be to build an full interior armour model, but I fear it is beyond my skill level. Same with PE parts I’m afraid.
At nearly 70 years of age, my shaky hands and weakening eyesight give me enough trouble with simpler builds.
I am looking forward to part 2 of this build.
I have subscribed to your channel and hope to see a lot more of your work in the future.
Cheers from Australia!
Adam Mann had a review, I think, on vision assistance! There's a few new things to assist with shaky hands too. One's called an "octopus", but you'd be challenging my memory now!
@@user-wf2lm3vi7o -
Thanks for the info mate - I’ll be sure to check it out on Adam’s channel.
Thanks Gary, using the assistance on Adam Mann's channel, maybe you could give a Trumpeter 1/16th scale a go!
I get the same reaction to parts that don't want to cooperate with me when I try to glue them together 😆😆😆
Great job so far, can't wait to see part 2
everybody gangsta until it becomes motorized
It looks so excruciatingly painful to build but you did I anyways
I work as a painting and modelling instructor at my local hobby store. I just recently discovered your channel and I have absolutely loved your videos. I've even incorporated some methods you use for explaining the steps you take into my own teaching classes. Really love your videos and look forward to following more of them!
😊😊😊😊😊
I'm halfway through my build now, superdetailing the interior. I have a second that I will make look factory fresh and probably create a side by side calling it, a different type of casualty of war. I know it sounds different than most would recommend, but I always weather my interiors prior to sealing. The paint is porous and when you wipe off the, "grime," you leave a nicer texture. Then seal it if you want.

Incredibly detailed kit, and amazing skill with assembly and painting.
You'd think with that level of detail they would include an aluminum/brass barrel for the main gun.
You can get this kit for around 60 dollars as it is. Some other Similar Sherman kits cost over $120.00 and I'll take the plastic gun to not have go broke getting it.
I did look into getting a metal barrel, but the kit one was nice and straight and it didn't really seem worth it.... I do like a metal barrel though!!!
You have an incredible eye for detail, hands of a surgeon. My wife’s uncle commanded Sherman tanks in Europe under Gen. Patton. He would have been very impressed with your workmanship. Thank you for your build!!! Looking forward to Part 2. Cheers 🍻 Bob
WOW....Simply WOW, that's one impressive kit and your paint job is incredibly realistic, I got the opportunity to get into and ride on a Sherman a few years ago, and the wear patterns on the floor plate and interior surfaces are spot on, I'm very much looking forward to the second video, Thank you.
The interior has a Star Wars vibe too it. Looks great and I am envious of anyone who works with such small scale kits. i can barely work on 1/10 RC projects these days.
I agree with you. Also, as a Star Wars modeler, I can't say I'm not tempted to get two copies of this kit: one to build as a Sherman, and one to use for greebling a Star Wars vessel.
the dirt on the floor turned out amazing, you should add some shoeprints with a scale model soldier! :D
All I can say is, Damn!!! You got skillz!!!! That was very impressive!!! As a WW2 history fan I enjoy seeing a good model build. That was spectacular!!!
I've never heard of that brand of kit before. It looked like it was very well made. Good detail on the parts, very little flash, and accurate placement of exterior features like hatches, machine gun mounts, lights, etc. Nice.
Rye feild is hands down my favorite model kit company with meng as a close second. The detail is always perfect and the selection of kits with interiors is a dream for someone like me, who enjoys building far more than painting.
What a enthusiastic video! Very impressive skill of assembling and painting. Pure joy for our eyes! Thank you for sharing🙂
You inspired - my kit & PE are en route. You also got me thinking about somehow putting a few greasy scale finger marks & handprints in that white interior - thoughts? Great work too, by the way!
Good idea! Im sure I will be doing some further interior detail! Thanks for watching.
Hi just found your channel great video my friend the interior is beautifully painted and weathered thanks for sharing 👍👍
Really enjoyed this kit personally. Found it very detailed and well engineered. It's hard to mess up and will leave you with something special. Even the exterior leaves little to be desired on its own. Tracks were a long haul but they look far superior to anything vinyl.
Great work. Last thing I'd ever want to do is put together those tracks one tread at a time.
done that, took me like 30 min or 1 hour
Would be cool to do turn into the Sherman tank from fury
This was interesting to watch. Too damn cool. I wouldn't have the patience for all of that lol.
Very nice, can't wait to see the completed kit.
so sad I can only give one like! Amazing job
The music is rather loud and drowns out your voice sometimes.
Hi Jess, thanks for the tip.
Really enjoyed this video, beautiful work
You should change your name to "Scale Model Surgeon", that then would explain the need to wear rubber gloves...;) Really though, what an awesome detailed model this is!
Very cool - I enjoyed watching this. Best part for me was making the tracks. Modeling has come a long way since the 70-80's when I was active.
Was?
Remembering the first tank model I built in the 60s (yes I'm that old) the kits of today continue to astonish me in their quality and level of detail. Nice work 👍
I remember building a 1/76 scale king tiger tank that has interior detailing. From the driver seat and steering to the engine in back. Turret showed the gun , spare rounds. I think the company was Fujimi or close to that.
Just your video for first time. And love it!! Subbed
Great video id turn the music down a little though
This kit is absolutely mad. Well done for A) doing such a good job so far, and B) retaining your marbles. A kit like this would have been the end of me.
Looks like an amazing kit. I used to enjoy building World War 2 armor, but in the last 10 years my eyesight has gotten so bad, that I can't see to work with such small parts.
Loving this so far - final pictures make me think it's in a tough neighbourhood and they're nicking the parts!
...Some inspiration here for one of my current builds - the RFM Firefly... Started but contemplating something now I have seen this and wonder if there is an engine out there... ?
Awesome presentation. I’m just starting my path to 1/12 F1 metal car. Not quite there yet.
So much detail you go to. Well done and a thumbs up, subscribed member nd fan. 🤓🤓🤓
About those weathering effects: I think those tanks were brand new when they were deployed and should be immaculate condition as long as they survived.
I was thinking the tracks were perhaps the most overboard detailing I've seen. But I'm sure someone out there is painting and loading individual cartridges into scale .50 and .30 cal. belts.
Absolutely first class modelling Andy really looking forward to part 2 👍
This is my first time to see this amazing 1/35 Sherman
model kit in my life!
Built 2 of these already has to be the best full interior out by far!
Fantastic job, but why you didn't remove ejector pin marks from the turret? :(
We're currently working on RFM M4A3E8, but the problem is that the boundary of the parts is very difficult. In the case of nickname parts, they look like tiny pieces, so I read the manual several times and attach them. I'm an office worker, so I'm touching the inside of the car body for a while after work. By the way, I'm going to paint.
Excellent work. I have learned a lot from your videos on this project. I have a problem with the kit that I hope you can help me with. I am currently building this same kit but mine has a turret casting that does not correspond with the instructions or parts list. I bought this kit off of e-bay from a private seller and it came factory sealed to me. I have attempted to contact RFM through their support e-mail but as of yet have been unsuccessful since they have not responded to my e-mails to them. Any ideas that you may have on how I might remedy my problem so that I can finish this otherwise top rate kit will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter. Any of your followers may feel free to respond as well.
This is a excellent build 👍👍👍, and I have been looking at this model just recently, and now I'm considering getting a kit for a future build hopefully....
This kit was not a good kit to start back into normal scale kits for me lol. Mine had tan colored plastic and didn't go over well with hardwood floors. Been building 1/16 scale aircraft for the past 6 years so my perception of 1/35 was way off. Incredible build man!
TOp model done by the master. Great review and some of my hard cold cash. As long as the wife looks at the account and Mary’s up expenses and lost kitchen of kitchen table again. 😂😂😂 best of luck.
A lot of the PE in my opinion is a waste of time, especially the rack on the rear of the tank. I am currently building this model, but I've not used the PE for the rack part. Ive got over 50years modelling experience and some of the PE is quite challenging
Your skill is apparent and is entertaining to watch even tho I don’t model anymore. Just didn’t have it, the skill that is, even on a 10 piece V2 rocket. I mean how do you fk that up? I am still amazed that the kit makers can provide relentless detail and high quality molds etc. for under $200.
Over the years you dont have to watch countless vlogs on modelling glue, fillers, primers and paint in both forms, you can glean more info from the comments than you can from some wannabe.
In your case you are and give such detailed advice and clues as to what to do,many pale into insignifance.
Top Lad,you cant take away quality even when your not at your best.
Thank you, honesty in business is rare as rocking horse shit these days, sound as a pound mucker
Rfm just announced there new sherman it's the same as the asuka Thunderbolt 6 woth all the apleqe armour! I've gotnthe pics posted on my Facebook it looks amazing!
Fun fact: America never liked adding the Sand skirts to the Sherman. So most of every American Sherman doesn't have Sand skirts. There might have been a few but for American used Sherman's. No Sand skirts were ever on them
hey, necro post, but when you did the washes like for the engine oil/interior wash/rust wash, did you have to thin the washes, or were they pre-thinned?
magnicent built.
Hoping to get this for xmas ...looking forward to starting it ....youre video is an insperation.thank you you are amazing
Probably won’t see this but maybe someone will know. You are the third person I have seen gluing painted parts together. What glue are you using that allows that??? 😮
Just like child.
“The tracks consist of four sprues”
Your kids will be in college by the time you’re done assembling them
Hola, me acabo de suscribir a tu canal, he visto este video en las notificaciones de UA-cam de videos recomendados, yo estoy intentando construir el sherman "fury" de italeri, no es tan detallado como el tuyo y hay piezas que no encajan demasiado bien
Great work. Sure hands and keen eyes. Looking forward to the finished kit.
It could be nice to get some more volume in that weathering, like, chonks of grease and grime in corners and stuff. Especially around the engine floor
edit: just got to the part where you mentioned some more was needed lol. nvm on what i said, i guess.
日本で失礼いたします。とても素晴らしい出来栄えですねぇ

Love your work, you do.
Where can I get the little metal mixing trys
As good as this looks, with the amount of PE, I think I’d stretch the budget a bit more for PE barrels for the machine guns too…
I wonder how many hrs this took. My armor takes around 30+hrs but i haven't did a interiors.
I have a panther in the stash with the interior. ming or tokom i cant remember.
Dis is satispaying
very good !
Great, inspiring build …what make of paint brushes are you using ?
fantastic job of weathering and blending the colors - keep the great work
The only thing that puts me off from doing tanks was the tracks..but after watching this i'm starting to consider doing a tank.
Every time I think I'm ready for a tank model, I see a vid like this and go, Nope...not yet.
Go for a Tamiya offering. Something much simpler than this. Their Panzer III/Stug III series would be perfect for a beginner. Don't try something this intense your first time out.
@@jzghostrider66 TY for the advice.
Beautiful work, I have enjoyed your build
Awesome build painting love it 👍👍👍💞💞🍺🍺💪💪
A model as complete as that has an upgrade set? Good Lord, didn't think you could build it better.
I think the Americans didn't even put the fenders on there tanks only the British used them so it really depends on what army your painting for
Any tips on how to get sunch an INCREDIBLE patience?
Please change a few letters in the name of your channel, so you would be Scale Model Chad, you deserve it
Your work is Amazing, you deserve a like ( way more if it was possible )
What type of gloves do you use that are comfy enough to be used for building? I guess you use these gloves to not get the solvent from the glue on to youre fingers or the super glue cyanocrylate on youre fingers.
In places where bolt heads would be stepped on, the heads would be devoid of paint for the most part.
Clark Carol Hernandez Jason White Kenneth
very impressive and teached, you must be a nice guy!!!
Rye Field are one of the reasons I prefer building Tamiya.
Really, how can the interior work be seen at all unless the turret is removed ? I don't get it.
Who are the 41 people who gave this a thumbs down? I mean, why?
Whats the music name also vary amazing outstanding job i hope to get there one day
The Advertisements keep getting interrupted by the program !ª
Sounds nutty I know, but I am starting work on my second novel, about a Sherman tank. It's fictional and sort of sci-fi, so I need a kit that has a full interior so I can customize it and then have it for reference with the story. Wondering if they have larger ones with full interior? Great looking build!
31:15 lol - now imagine doing this under fire.
99 bottles of beer on the wall...
Today, I found your channel suddenly. It's excellent work. Also, I'm looking forward to outer painting and weathering.
And I subbed.
Latex or vinyl gloves----asking for a friend.
where can I find model tanks that have a significant level of functionality??? like actually movable rolling tracks & open/close hatches etc. regardless of scale??? more the functionality all the better!!! please advise!!!
Im not sure about this. If you don't mind joining them, some of the Facebook tank building groups have a huge amount of knowledge if you put the question out. Cheers, Andy
@@ScaleModelShed thank you!!!
Absolutely gorgeous work! I have the same tank in the queue for my channel. Don't know if I can compete with this! What are you planning for the paint job?
Where can I order a bigger Sherman tank model 1/144
Can you build German Tiger 1 next. 🤗
Beautiful work, mate! Makes me want one of these beasts!
Someone should make transparent upper hull and turret shells so all the detail can be seen.
Can you tell me where you got your little knife sharpener or who makes it? I’d be very much obliged. Kind regards Barry( I’ve reached page 30 at the moment of this build)
Hi Barry, Im not sure, if you search diamond knife sharpener block , you'll get the kind of thing. There are a lot of pages!! Thanks. Andy.
I utterly hate photo etch and will not build a model that does not come with both!
I would like to know why the solders weren't posable.
