The lithium makes up around 10% of each battery, the main component will be graphite which is why it is so black looking. You would have to add some water to get the Li to react. Still, there should be a lot more PPE being worn here, and I'm wondering how he washed his hands after touching the black powder.

This is in China. Cheap labor , energy , no concern of pollution ,no safety for workers, no workers unions. This is the first step ,separating the materials . The second step is even more polluting and dangerous , the chemical process to separate the lithium and the rest from the black powder..
