Just found your channel today, B. Benoist! I have 5-7 different types of resumes ready to go at any given time!
Fantastic!
Such an important topic, everyone deserves an opportunity in the job hunting process.
As I grow older, I could not agree with you more Carina :-)
Always great advice, Bill! I've found as I get older and tend to stay in positions for longer amounts of time, it become easy to fall out of touch with current workplace, interviewing, and hiring trends. Always keep up with this stuff as you never know when you'll need it!
Thank you, Jamie. Just don't become bitter like the guy above you - LOL.

Sadly, ageism is often a viral topic on UA-cam.
I have a LinkedIn account. The picture of me was from years ago. What are your thoughts on updated my picture with the older, grayer me?
I highly recommend updating your photo. There is nothing more unnerving, distracting and surprising than expecting someone who is not the person you think they are. I have had that happen both as a hiring manager and as a coach.
Choose a photo that is both truthful and favorable to you. For instance, a black-and-white photo could help conceal gray hair and prevent an overexposed appearance. Additionally, dressing appropriately and smiling genuinely with your entire face can project energy and confidence.
By the way, while it's true that a photo can reveal your age, it's also a fact that having a profile picture increases the likelihood of your profile being reviewed by seven times. So please do not consider removing your photo altogether.
I hope this helps
@@BBenoist Thank you so much. I felt that it would be too much of a shock, so thank you for confirming that for me.
The thing about the companies hirng is they dont want older workers. They want young workers because they can easily offer lowball salary and also take advantage of them with workload.
Older workers know the games and know better than to fall for it. Then when they hire a younger worker, once the younger worker catches on they look for excuses to fire them, then hire the younger upcoming and the cycle continues.
All these are just useless processes. Its almost like these companies have made applying for a job the actual job. Too many idiot games being played by hiring companies. This is why so many people have bowed out if the workforce. Not worth the scrap they pay for the experience and skill you bring.
You have no argument from me that it is difficult for older workers, but it is not impossible. Otherwise, I would not have a business
@@BBenoist I would agree that it isnt impossible, but the odds are long especially for older workers.
Just as its not impossible to get a hole in one your first year golfing. Possible (Yes) Probable (No). People have to assess their skills and also get the read of the job market temperature and try their hand.
For the foreseeable future employers want disposable workers, not indespensible skilled and educated workers. They want a person with just enough know how to do the job, but not enough know how to demand a high salary. This is why so many businesses are stagnant. (There is the rare example of this not applying , but there are exceptions with most anything ) They dont invest in the most valuable resource, which is their workers. Its about now, now , now (enough to get by) to a majority of businesses. Companies lack loyalty now and are quick to fire anyone for anything they deem an inconvenience. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Great video overall.
