G'day Tim, I enjoyed the flight very much; was nice to see the Girls as well! My last Glider flight was in 1986 flying out of Camden Airfield in NSW whilst attending the 1985/86 Australian International Scout Jamboree at the nearby Cataract Scout Park. We were tow launched for a half hour flight in a Blanik Glider. Cheers from Menzies Creek - Puf'n-Pete
Hi Pete, always good to hear from Menzies Creek, I look forward to being allowed into Australia and New Zealand again, hopefully it won't be too long. It's been a while since your last glider flight, do they fly gliders out of Longreach? Take care and stay safe. Tim.
Hi tim wonderful flight,I went on a 1 hour flight many years ago at camden in sw syd and it's the best way to fly all you can hear is the rush of the wind,Still in lockdown in syd into our 2nd month take care cheer's bob.
Hello Robert, I'm glad you enjoyed the flight, it's a relaxing experience just drifting around in the thermals and looking down on the scenery below as you know from your own flight at Camden. Its a pain being in lock-down again, I hope it ends soon. Life is pretty normal here, we are simply learning to live with the virus, most people have been double jabbed, just children and those who refuse to have the vaccine left now. Travelling overseas is still risky as there are not many countries on the safe list, I have booked my first rail tour in almost two years to Germany in January 2022. Cheers. Tim.
Wow! That was very cool. It wasn't as quiet as I thought it would be but I really didn't know what to expect either. I was curious about the purpose of that little straw thing just outside the window to the left attached to the window. I was also taken by how it was apparent, by the layout of the streets, the original agricultural fields below were filled in piecemeal with buildings. Thanks for the experience!
Hi, I'm pleased you enjoyed the flight. The random nature in which the English countryside was divided up is reflected in the shape of built up areas as developers buy up each piece of agricultural land for the next housing estate, the estates are developed to match the shape of each parcel of land. That straw thing is there to show the direction of the wind, ideally it should be in line with the glider, if it is to one side it indicates a cross wind, which can cause problems when landing if the wind is too strong. Hi Tim! I would say pretty airy thing. Did you fly about 2000 feet there or was that more? In any case, always nice to fly over your own home. Nice video. Cheers Tim 🇦🇹🍻
Hello Hans, this was just a short flight, the tug plane released the glider at 1500 feet. My home town looks very different from above. Take care. Tim 😉.
I'm no light weight and there isn't much room in a glider, but it is fun. One advantage of a KLM 747 is the pretty stewardesses and the complimentary drinks, neither of which is available in a glider 😉
