The Lute Concerto in D major, RV 93, is one of four works written by Antonio Vivaldi for solo lute, two violins and basso continuo. The maestro wrote the piece in the 1730s, a period during which three other works featuring the lute. The lute parts are written primarily in chordal form, and the lute player is intended to play arpeggios based on these chords. Ben Salfield is one of the few lutenists to regularly perform the concerto in Europe notably. This one is usually played on guitar today but the piece sometimes uses the mandolin.
