I was a surf lifesaver in Australia and this is pretty much how we would rescue someone with a board, its worth noting though that most people who actually need help will either be panicking or about to panic and exhausted, in reality it wont be graceful, you will probably have to manhandle them into place, and they will get a few bruises rolling over, but it’s better than the alternative

There was a lake that i used to fish, its a bigger body of water that had restrictions for no motorized boats. Was known for sail boats paddle boards and kayaks. I was in my sit on top kayak and saw a little girl (maybe 12) fall off their board in the middle of the lake (very windy day, water had a small chop). I didn't think anything of it while I was fishing but after a few spots of not catching fish I was looking to go across the lake and saw she was still in the water and not on their board so set out in there direction to see of everything was okay. She hanging on the side was tired and holding on to rhe board and crying when i got there. She just said she needed help and could get back on her board and she grabbed onto my kayak. Oldtown 120pdl. We tipped my kayak and dropped a bunch of my stuff into the water while i was helping her into the back of the kayak. She wasn't teather or had a life jacket. I asked her where she came from and she pointed at the beach. That's where I took her, towing her board behind my kayak. Her family was not happy to see me and thought I did her wrong or something when we got close to the beach area. With everyone talking over each other yelling at me i didnt not want to stay there. All they saw was their little girl crying and with a stranger. When I could I jumped out of my kayak as it was a shallow beach and she did to and ran to her family. A few of them where scream and yelling at me like I did something wrong. I unleashed the board and pushed it in their direction. By the time she explained what happened, I was already getting as far away as possible. I went straight to where I launched and left.

As a lifeguard that taught boating, umm this usually works, however it's not a guarantee, and don't grab but the arms, your weight can pull them out of socket and severely hurt them, as they said use the PFD straps

Paddleboarders have a habit of not wearing wetsuits on water that'll give them cold shock if they fall in. It can be very hard, if not impossible, to use your muscles in a state of cold shock. Plus of course, people make mistakes and one of your party may be extremely tired.

I didnt know that not being able to get back on your board was an issue for some people! Now rhat i thonk about it.... i dont even know how o get back on my own board
lol 😆 well I have some videos to help you with that too. But flip rescues are used in emergencies or situations where the person has a cramp, is exhausted, injured etc.
I image you jumping off your board to help them back on. Then you can’t get back. So they jump off to help you get back on. Then you have to jump off to help them get back on. Then they have to jump off to help you back on 3 day later….. You both are holding onto one board kicking your feet to get back home
😆 I wouldn't recommend attempting a rescue if you aren't confident or comfortable getting back on your own board. Or yes, you might end up in a bad situation or like you said kicking your way back to shore.
I have absolutely no intention of ever paddle boarding or being near someone while they are paddle boarding. However, I watched six time because I wanted to know how to do it.

“are yo okay?” (clearly drowning) *drowns*
lol. Not everyone in the water splashing around is drowning. But if it's clear they are drowning best to help them!
@@PaddleAdventurer oh ok thanks
I went paddle boarding with my family and was scared to jump off of mine (we were at a lake) because I was scared I wouldn’t be able to get back up but it’s actually pretty easy
I'm glad you went and practice getting on your paddle board! It's a super important skill to have have. Check out this video on 3 ways to do it. ua-cam.com/video/KLzWnols0GA/v-deo.htmlsi=166aRJ0gscW2eRXD
Me personally i can flip one of thoes with one hand and get back on with one hand bec me and my friends push eachother off so much it became easy
Awesome! It's important to practice falling off and getting back on your paddle board. Love that you had fun with it!
This is what my dad did for surf training
Awesome! Its an easy and great technique to know in case of emergencies.
Wow 😲
Super easy and effect plus fun to practice in case of an emergency
I bet if you cant climb onto your board but you have strong legs you could one leg and push the board to flip over
I learnt this at uksa
that's awesome! It's a useful and easy technique to know.
NICE😏
Thanks for the kind comment. Glad it was helpful!
Flip it 🔥✌🏼
🙌🏼
It's kinda much easier to climb back how the helper lady did in the end? Or am I missing something?
Flip rescues are used for emergencies or situations where the person is exhausted, injured, conditions have changed etc.
@@PaddleAdventurer k makes sence
I have done this way too many times
That's scary that you've had to use this a lot. But I'm glad you knew the technique to help someone!
I image you jumping off your board to help them back on. Then you can’t get back. So they jump off to help you get back on. Then you have to jump off to help them get back on. Then they have to jump off to help you back on
3 day later…..
You both are holding onto one board kicking your feet to get back home
😆 I wouldn't recommend attempting a rescue if you aren't confident or comfortable getting back on your own board. Or yes, you might end up in a bad situation or like you said kicking your way back to shore.
How dod they get the above shot

I have absolutely no intention of ever paddle boarding or being near someone while they are paddle boarding. However, I watched six time because I wanted to know how to do it.
lol I love that so much. Prepared for any all situations!
I am glad I know this
Also me I will never use this
I'm glad it was helpful and I hope you never have to use it!
someone: *drowning*
lifesaver: "are you okay?"
someone: *still drowning*
lifesaver: "I need you to tell me if you're okay"
someone: *drowns*
lifesaver: "not again"
😆 some people are just playing in the water and won't actually need your help.
POV you help them then you get stuck and the cycle repeats infinitely
lol I wouldn't recommend doing a flip rescue if you can't get back on.
Titanic.
What if you can’t get back on your board?
It’s important to learn and practice getting on your own board. I have some videos on this too.
Flip rescues are used in emergencies or situations where the person is exhausted, has a cramp etc. If you aren’t comfortable or confident helping rescue them it’s best to call for help.
nahh my brother would do the opposite, flip me off then keep it over my head and flip it twords me when i tried to get on
What happens if both individuals fall off and don't know how to get back up?
You only do that if someone is injured and can’t get back up
I couldve used this last week😢
Glad you found it helpful!
I tried it with my friend but I forgot I was not that strong ✋🏼😭
lol you don't need to be strong to perform a flip rescue. It's all about using your body weight and gravity 🙌🏼
😮😮😮
It's an easy and effective technique to help someone. Plus fun to practice for when there is an emergency.
Shocks near the area: sounds like food.
Ans the. What am I supposed to do? Wait for someone else to come help me? Lol
lol if you don’t feel comfortable and confident getting back on your own board it’s best to call for help vs saving someone with a flip rescue.
Question, what if you can’t get up like what if your drowning😅
I wouldn't recommend performing a flip rescue if you can't get back on your board or aren't confident. Best to call for help.
Or just keep the paddle as a souvenir 😊
So evil! Go through the full rescue but then leave them without a paddle.
How do i get back on mine now haha
lol I'd recommend being able to get back on your own board and not attempting any rescues if you aren't confident. Here is a video with three ways ua-cam.com/video/KLzWnols0GA/v-deo.htmlsi=h68q-U_eqQ6AB7sE
Why can’t they just get on how the helper got on instead of doing all that extra stuff 😂
Flip rescues are used for emergencies or situations where the person is exhausted, has a cramp or an injury or conditions have changed.
Firmly grasp it. … FIRMLY GRASP IT.
I honestly don't think you should do any sea related activities if you're unable to even climb on a paddle board
Fully agree, getting back on your paddle board is a key skill and something you should practice. Check out the video on how to do that here: ua-cam.com/video/KLzWnols0GA/v-deo.htmlsi=ud0Ny38_G60189UZ
