Audino being the only Gen 5 Pokémon with a Mega Evolution will always be one of the strangest things this franchise has ever done in my eyes.
Diancie... an event exclusive pokemon being the only Kalos native mega is worse imho...

One fact
Some minor corrections:
- Fraud is the only character who bursts using multiple Pokemon in Reburst. Every other character is permanently bound to a single Pokemon, but Fraud uses something like 12 forms, making Zebstrika about the least special Pokemon in terms of its role in Reburst.
- Golurk has three different forms, with only its main one appearing in the actual main series games, but it can learn fly because in one of these forms it pulls its legs inside its body and replaces the bottom of its torso with a jet engine. In the third form, it balances on its arms, replacing the jet engine with a cannon. These forms do appear in the manga, anime, and I think one side-game.
Another correction I would like to add: Simipour's eyes aren't actually closed, the just appear that way because anime characters are often drawn with their eyes like that when smiling; those are actually it's pupils, believe it or not

And who would ever abuse a Lillipup!? Heartless! Now I feel kind of bad for EV training against them.
It's weird how they gave all these Pokémon in gen 5 names that ended up being inappropriate on GTS, considering that they went out of their way to change Emonga's original Japanese name to Emolga specifically to prevent it from being filtered, seeing how "mong" is a slur word. This change was unprecedented because up until gen 5 all pikaclones had exactly the same name in both the English and Japanese versions but Emolga broke that tradition even if just by one letter. Moreover, Emolga remained as the ONLY pikaclone with different names between the two regions all the way up until the latest generation which marked the second precedent of this, with Pawmi being named Pamo in Japanese which is an even bigger change than in Emolga's case, and it's not exactly clear why they changed it.
Simisear was also the least popular Pokémon of that one popularity pool years ago. Poor guy debuted in the same generation as Darmanitan and one generation after Infernape. Lil Fire Monkey never had a chance.
Lampent representing October in the Unova Horoscope isn't because of Halloween, it's because it corresponds to the Zodiac sign Libra, aka, "scales", with Lampent's design being close to weighing scales.
The reason Beeheyem can learn Steel Wing is because the TM used to be Ally Switch, meaning that GameFreak forgot to remove the TM from it.
For Hydreigon it could it could also be caught before the level it normally evolves in Pokémon Sword/Shield in a raid den event at level 60
Archeops pokedex number also referes to the number of books about the dinosaur its based off in the dui decimal system (a system that helps to arrange books in librarys)

People crap on Chikorita, but it really wasn't a bad starter, it was just cursed because all type grass was good against weren't repeated in Johto. It was the worst choice to make, just like Charmander in gen 1, but you could make it work for you.

I like Chikorita, but its evolutions are so lame.
Some other starter final forms I think look stupid, but Chikorita's just look boring and very forgettable, I frequently forget Bayleaf and Maganium exist.

@@enoyna1001I didn't read the dex entries in the anime, but I do read the dex entries in most of the games so far.
@@enoyna1001I only read some dex entries when I'm especially interested in a Pokemon (or even remember dex entries exist)
And I haven't watched an episode of the anime since Orange Islands, though maybe eventually I'll watch the anime?... perhaps, though probably at like 1.5 or 2x speed so it doesn't take me 2 years to watch them all.
Fun fact: you can see this art in the anime 3:47 (don't remember the episode but its one of the early ones)

I don't think Beheeyem learning Steel Wing is a glitch or oversight, nor the result of a reference.
Steel Wing wasn't a TM in gen 5 when Beheeyem was introduced, so of course it couldn't learn it through TM then. And Ally Switch was TM 51, a move it can also learn in every other game it's in.
Gen 6 is the first gen Beheeyem is in that has Steel Wing as a TM. And it is TM 51. So I can see where these beliefs stem from. But let's keep looking at it.
Ally Switch is no longer a TM, thus some people think it knows Steel Wing because of a mistake. But then why is this the only instance of the issue? How does such a mistake occur? There's more to referencing something in the code than just a part of the name. It would not simply be referred to in the code as "TM 51", with Beheeyem listed as being able to learn "TM 51". They had to redefine TM 51 to be Steel Wing in the code and had to set what moves each Pokemon can learn. No other Pokemon that could learn Ally Switch via TM in gen 5 has this mistake, except for Elgyem of course. Abra can't learn Steel Wing but could also learn TM 51 in gen 5. So did they go through and check everywhere that they when they changed TM 51 to Steel Wing, they didn't forget to remove it from all of the other Pokemon that learned Ally Switch, and these two just got overlooked? Sounds more intentional than that. Besides, they can still learn Steel Wing even now despite it not being TM 51 anymore. Why did they never fix it? They've changed their moves in other ways.
Which brings us to the other popular answer, it was a reference. Yeah, that sounds like it makes sense, assuming Japan knows about the Area 51 myth and did so back then. And in gen 5, this answer would make sense. But why would they continue this in gen 6 despite it screwing with the move set by giving it something new? It still has it in gen 7, sure, but gen 7 still has Steel Wing in that spot. But why not keep the reference in gen 8? It can still learn Steel Wing, but that's no longer TM 51, and suddenly it can't learn TM 51. That's weird consistency.
So... why can't it just be that they wanted to give it Steel Wing? Because it doesn't have wings? Well, you're right, but also wrong. Leavanny can also learn Steel Wing and it doesn't have wings. They were introduced later, but Drakloak and Dragapult can also learn Steel Wing despite not having wings. Doduo and Dodrio don't have visible wings and they can learn Steel Wing. Mew can too. Sure, for us it's because it can learn every TM, but what's the meta explanation there? The other way you're wrong with that line of thinking? The definition of a wing.
When we think of a wing on an animal, we think of an appendage used to fly. Bird wings have feathers, bat wings are skin membranes stretched between fingers, insect wings are hard appendages used for flight. But according to Google, Oxford Languages has several definitions, one of which says "A lateral part or projection of an organ or structure", and Merriam-Webster includes the definition "an appendage or part resembling a wing in appearance, position, or function", listing examples like water wings, a turned back or extended edge on an article of clothing, or alae, which is a winglike anatomic process or part, especially of bone. Which to me suggests that Elgyem's and Beheeyem's arms could be classified as wings, especially when they are otherworldly and thus we don't know the exact biology for them.
So... yeah, they could have just stretched things to give them Steel Wing. Saying those count as wings is no weirder than the fact Wooper can punch without hands. And them wanting it to learn Steel Wing explains everything else, like why it's the only line that could learn TM 51 in gen 5 but not gen 6 or 7, why it can learn Steel Wing still in gen 8, and why it can't learn TM 51 in gen 8. They wanted to give it access to Steel Wing and it just wasn't a TM in gen 5. The 51 is a coincidence.

I adore the content! I'd like to add that some people mistake Lucario (i know gen 4, but bear with me) and Zoroark as legendary or mythical Pokemon because there were movies centered around them.
Those were "Lucario and the Mystery of Mew" and "Zoroark Master of Illusions". It is no big surprise that these Pokemon are so popular and rightly so!!! Keep up the amazing work and have a great day!!!

Me, who lives in Boston and these guys spawn constantly: Well that's a freaking lie. I'm pretty sure it's either just North America or at least the eastern time zone of it, because I just came from Niagara Falls (the Canada side) and Bouffalant still spawned.
Originally, it was limited to just New York and some of the surrounding areas. It looked like that might have changed so don’t just jump to conclusions and assume I lied

Cottonee and Whimsicott are the ONLY Fairy-type Pokémon in Generation 5, if there was to be a remake and you wanted a fairy-type white players would need to do th in Game trade.

The only one that learns moves via levelup that evolves both from and into one that doesn't.
It means that Tynamo and Eelektross don’t learn any additional moves by level up. Tynamo only learns four moves total without TMs (and can only learn like 2 since gen 5) which it starts with at level 1, and Eelektross only has move reminder moves like most stone evolutions do

I did some Googling, and for those wondering, the reason Conkeldurr has to be renamed is because "con" is apparently French for "idiot" 🤦♂
Explaining the reasons for name bans would probably get him demonetized, lol.
I'm 99% sure that's not why Conkeldurr's name is filtered, Croconaw and Sandaconda were not affected despite having "con" as part of their name, plus Game Freak wouldn't care to filter slurs in languages other than English and maybe Japanese, there's just too many, if they did that then no Pokémon name would be legible for trade including official ones.

@@Diwasho Croconaw was actually banned in Gen 5 due to its name for the same reason : its name contains "con" which is a synonym of "dumbass" in French. Also Idk why bringing in Sandaconda which is a Gen 8 Pokémon, and we're talking about Gen 5 GTS
Also YES they did indeed censor words in other language, as a French I can't name Pokémons after Gen 4 with offensive words like "Merde" (Shit) or other offensive words
Edit : after a bit more search, every Pokémon with "Sau" was also banned liek Bulbasaur as it's a bad word to say "pig" to someone in Germany, so see ?
It's just that only few languages than now were supported : French, English, Japanese, Spanish, German and Korean, in which every of those mons have banned slurs and so some names of Pokémons in other languages are banned, but I guess those 2 are the most obvious ones
Nowadays names are detected by the Nintendo's console ban words list that avoids to put a certain string of letters that's out of context, rather than the game itself

Another fact about deino's evolution line is that their names contain German for one two and three.
In fact in every language they have "one", "two" and "three" in other languages:
English : German (ein, zwei, drei)
French : Latin (solo (Solochi), di (Diamat), trio (Trioxyhdre)
German : Spanish & ancient Greek (uno (Kapuno), duo (Duodino), trio (Trikephalo))
Japanese has Deino as "Monozu" and Zweilous as "Dihead", else it's 1,2,3 in their languages
