The eighth-generation Corvette is a never-ending bag of tricks. Chevy outdoes itself with another set of killer Kentucky supercars just as fans witnessed a mid-engine Stingray in 2020 with a base model reaching 60 mph in less than 3.0 seconds. First, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 made a comeback without the previous models' front-engine supercharged chassis. The hybrid E-Ray was the next major improvement made to the Corvette by Chevrolet since it went mid-engine. So, how do they compare to one another? Let's find out!

I’m in love with both and should have them sitting side by side sometime in the fall.
The Z06 has center exhaust...looks better. With the flat plane crank, it sounds much better. The E-Ray weighs 300lbs more. For a price that is very similar, I would prefer the Z06 with its advanced design engine used in the Corvette race car compared to the E-Ray's pushrod engine used in the base Stingray helped by an electric motor. The extreme popularity of the Z06 may make it easier to get a similar looking wide body E-Ray but that remains to be seen.
The E-Ray is faster to zero to 60, but as the race goes on, the Z06 will reel it in due to the fact that the E-Ray electric motor loses power, after acceleration, making almost the same power as the base Corvette. No longer possessing it's 655 hp rating which will fall during a longer run.
Yes, the E-Ray is not a track car for a continued race.

What really matters to me is the sound.

Why didnt they use the z06 engine in the eray?what with its smaller displacement

They're both slower than the 911 turbo s . The 5.5 liter should have gone in the eray, not the 6.2 . GM failed with the eray .
The z06 119.4 has crushed the gt3 120.6 on the Monticello north course and it also produced the 5th all time fast lap at VIR . The Car and Driver annual Lighting lap. The Maclean 765lt only beat the Z06 by .2 seconds
The 5.5 liter with twin turbos, is going into the C8 ZR1. Which will have over 800 hp. The same Engine is going into the Zora, but it will have the E-Rays hybrid setup, making 1000 hp.
That car is likely coming up and will be much more expensive than the E-Ray.

E-Ray 100% does not make me not want to buy a Z06, I'd take the Z06 over the E-Ray any day, feel like most people would. All the stupid fan boys that care only about a 0-60 pathetic.
That said...all those on a list for the Z06 should switch over to a shorter list for an E-Ray...particularly if that LT6 is not all that important to them.
@rtbasey Exactly, the Z06 will go down in history, the Eray is just meh.... Wow it goes in a straight line.
