Great review. I have a 2024 Luxury 2 awd Lyriq and I have seen all of the glitches that you have experienced plus a few others. A soft reset fixed the issue each time so far. Just hold the phone hang up button for 15 seconds and let the system reset. NOTE: Do not press the factory reset button on the screen unless you want to log in again. This vehicle is just like a smart phone that you can drive. I wonder if parking garages can cause the cameras to stop working correctly. Our Lyriq did exactly the same thing after spending 6 hours in a parking garage. A Reboot fixed it. The public recharge slow down happened to us also. It seems to happen when more cars plug in. It did not seem like the Lyriq was the cause for us. The super cruise is pretty smart and is not available sometimes for different reasons. I think it can see orange barrels because it always notify the driver that we are entering a construction zone when they are around. If super cruise is on and the road is not blocked it stays active and cautions the driver. I do not think it will engage if it was not active when you enter the construction zone. Thanks for the detailed review.
In my 2nd week with my Lyriq Luxury dual-motor AWD. So far, no issues. It's my first EV, so I'm still on the learning curve. I'm quite happy with the Lyriq so far and am looking forward to a long trip this weekend.
Glad Lyriq still has Apple Carplay. No Apple Carplay is a no sale for me. ------- I upgraded from a 2014 Toyota Highlander to a 2024 Cadillac XT4 with Apple Carplay! (the 2024 highlander drove the same and is pretty much the same chasis and interior so it's boring). The Cadillac XT4 has no turbo lag that I can feel. Every other car that I test drove had turbo lag, whether short or long...Mercedes GLC300 (least turbo lag), BMW X3 (a little more turbo lag), Porsche Macan S (even more turbo lag), Honda (way too much turbo lag). The Cadillac has these features that UA-camrs miss: - lighted logo behind the dashboard - pulsating safety seat (most cars only beep) - left behind child in the rear seat alert - capless fuel tank (like my 2017 Corvette C7 ) - umbrella storage in the doors (like Rolls Royce) - active noise cancellation (like my 2017 Corvette C7 with Bose) - power passenger seat with lumbar - free 5G hotspot - stop/start feature is the smoothest I’ve ever experienced that I don't even notice it. My other car is a 2017 Corvette Stingray in stickshift.
You are plugging in a power supply. The charger is built into the car. I charge my Lyriq, RAV4 Prime, e-bike, iPhone and iPad 100%. After a year the Lyriq is getting 378 miles on a full charge and the RAV4 Prime went from 42 to 55 miles on a full charge. My off-peak electric charge is $.045 per kw, that’s about 1.4 cents per mile.
A good fair review. You point out the main issues and realize it’s a good car. Apple Wireless CarPlay is a major issue as are the occasional Green Screens (sometimes black) and charging speed can be poor. What you did not mention is the obstructive glare from the dash on bright sunny days; still trying to figure out solution and the poor speed of the wipers. Hope Cadillac is listening!
Excellent review and great comment section with user experiences. I am ready to changeover to at least one EV in our fleet of five ICE vehicles, but it seems like the curve of improvement in the next few years will offset what I might save now buying them before they are more popular. It is my personality but software glitches or HVAC issues would DRIVE ME CRAZY! Plus, while the EV MAY be more environmentally friendly, as I ask my EV promoting friends, is it better for the environment for me to buy a new EV now or simply keep driving an ICE built 6 years ago and maintaining it well. Manufacturing a new car is not environmentally friendly, after all. Thanks for this, Eddie.
I am looking to downside from my 2018 Escalade. I looked at one of the Lyriq's at my Cadillac dealer. There is no rear space and my service advisor told me don't buy a first year model because of all the issues.
@fredmeyer369 That's a whole lot of money to pay for lights 😅 Anyone can install luminous lighting and other custom exsessories. But, what is really needed especially on a long range travel, the Lyric EV like all EVs just doesn't deliver. Your long-range travel will take even longer thanks to all the sitting around you have to do. And you'll be charging often due to the short and shitty range it offers. And for the money they want? He'll no!! I paid off my Jaguar XJL at 41K. For the 3 minutes of fueling it delivers a range of 570 miles. This gives me the ability to keep moving. EVs are kool but, they'll be even better when they improve them. You come up with an EV that takes 10 minutes or less and delivers a range of 570 miles or more like some of those EVs made in China, yes!!!! Now we're talking!! I'll be the first one at the gates to get one in cash 💸. Till then, I'll keep my Jaguar XJL and simply leave more than well enough alone. ....
Don't go far as you will be hitting up a station soon. Also what does one do when there is a stop in a freeway for several hours? California fires and accidents though mountains this happens often. I dropped the idea of getting this as if you have ever seen a line two miles long to exit a freeway. You know this car isn't one you want to rely on to take to a California freeway
I'm glad Cadillac got rid of the 'popper' style door handles/openers, those were ridiculous! It's a real shame the software is buggy, I hope Cadillac can sort that stuff out.
I have the 2024 Lux 1 RWD (no Super Cruise) and have too experienced some of the glitches. I still love the car and have enjoyed my first foray into having an electric car. Life was made much easier by having a charging station installed at the house when local. I don't miss the gas stations at all. We'll see how things go for a long road trip.
I'm only at gas stations once a month for ten minutes, how much time do you spend at charging stations? Even if you have one in you're home there's no getting around the hassles of different charging stations.
@@20rpsupreme Her experience won't matter. This is a function of how much you drive and recharge at home along with your rate/ kwh. Obviously those items can vary widely; however it will almost certainly be less than buying gasoline. For example- if you drove around 1200 miles per month and the Lyriq was getting around 2.6 miles per kw (many do better than that), you would be using about 460 kw/month. At $.15/kwh, you're paying about .15x460 or $70/month for the electric to drive. Some utilities have off peak charging rates, so you can charge overnight at a lower rate, likewise many have peak rates where they charge 2-3x price per kw at peak use times. You can program your home charger for what time you want it to charge. On the road, you'll have to pay 2-3x that price for high speed charging for road trips and such, but that sort of defeats the purpose of EVs and should be reserved for longer road trips and for charging just enough to get you to a slower/destination/your garage charger. Currently you're mostly avoiding road taxes due to the taxes added to gasoline that aren't tacked on to electricity, though some states charge more for registration, which is fair considering the damage heavy EVs can do to highways relative to lighter cars. Another factor less discussed is the lower maintenance costs- no oil to change, longer brake life, no air filters, spark plugs, emissions, etc. You can save battery life by precooling and preheating while still plugged in, etc. Transportation is changing rapidly. It will be interesting to see how things look in 10-20 years.
@@richardmorris7063 I personally never charge at public stations. If you can afford a Lyric you probably have a home with a garage and can charge it at home. The cost to charge at home is much cheaper than charging at a public charger. The cheapest fast chargers are around 36¢/KW, vs at home I would pay between 17$/KW - 26¢/KW, depending on what tier I fall into that month. If you are someone who does a lot of long road trips, then you may want to look at the Teslas, Hyundai, Kia, Genesis and Porches. They charge in a much shorter time. For instance the Ionic 6 goest from 10% - 80% in 18 minutes and get over 350 mile in range. So drive for about 4.5 hours stop and use the restroom and get a snack and when you come out, your car is ready to go.
Idk,it seems like saying 314 mi. range is a misnomer if you have to charge at 240. And all the rest of it,the different charging stations plus I'd want to have one in my garage how much is that? I'm happy w/ my XT5, I use about 40$ worth of gas a month...I'm good
