I read a book describing the pre-colonial Philippines, and it was noted by the Spanish friars (priests) that the Filipino people have always been excellent singers and musicians they didn't need to teach them to sing in choirs, and they were wondering why as a people we didn't have conservatories for music, and they said maybe it's because it was just too common that it made no sense to have any conservatory whatsoever. Also even during that time the Filipinos sing during their gatherings for whatever reason however trivial. That was like 500 years ago and that culture is very well alive today.

In the Philippines, you can perform songs, from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 20, to the present music, and believe me, they can still sing it...
This is true even in pubs. The band can't be heard any more because the crowd seems to know the lyric word for word and singing at the top of their collective lungs. I wonder how these guys know the lyrics of all songs in the whole wide world! Just amazing! Promise, you'll enjoy singing too. hahahaha

As a Filipino, going to concerts, many, if not all, get hoarse voices the morning after. At concerts, it's not just the artists who perform, it's the whole venue, the production team, security. EVERYONE SINGS
Yes that’s true… it’s all over the Philippine archipelago that music is a force of energy. If not all, almost everybody can sing. Not only can… but sings beautifully. Am over 60 years of age now but how I wish you could hear me sing to the likes of Elvis, Neil Diamond,Tom Jones, Cliff Richard, Humperdinck, Beatles, Bee gees, Boyzone, Pavarotti, Bellafonte, Matt Monroe, Neil Young, Gary V, Freddie Aguilar, Asin, Roel Cortez, Glen Campbell, Lobo, cascade, Platters, The Cats, Willie Nelson Julio Iglesias, even female artists like Anne Murray Kansas etcetcetc! Sorry I couldn’t name them all. Music is in our blood stream so to speak. We just couldn’t help but love music. Go to the farthest and maybe the tiniest island in the Philippines… and you will see and find that people are glued upon music in all kinds of celebrations. Anywhere in the Philippines. Am proud to be a Filipino. Mabuhay!!!!

Another thing about us Filipino's is that 90% of us is not Tone Deaf in concerts.
In terms of crowd, Indonesia is the best crowd imo. Check out their Java Jazz Festival and The Sounds Project. (Forgot to mention their taste in music is insane!!!)

This is not in concert, but during a youth conference, I was one of the congregation. I stopped singing and just listened to the people around me. I literally felt overwhelmed coz the harmony was sooooo good.
