Had not heard of Ian before this year but hadn't been looking either... His Aloha and high QUALITY of playing, and teaching, is amazing! Will check him out more.
I keep coming back to this episode every day since it's release. Of your incredible library of podcasts, this really is one of the best. Thank you Andrew, thank you Ian! And of course Kalei and Corey as well! You all continue to inspire me to get better every day.
When i saw the time on this one as it was double the usual weekly videos I was curious why, but man-o-man the 2hrs felt less with Ian. He was very inspiring and what a talent he is, Thanks Andrew for introducing people around the world with such unique and talented artists. Corey and Kalei always a pleasure to catch you in these videos. Keep up the good work guys, and i will definitely be visiting your shop someday when i finally decide to get my higher end ukulele even if i have to plan a vacation to Hawaii from Vancouver.
Hello Andrew, Ian, Kalei and Corey, this is a really tasty Podcast - its like an very, very good wine🍷. Have not got enough superlative words in my vocabulary - but, Ian, this is/was incredible 👌. You are a master on the Guitar and the ukulele too. So mesmerizing - you are so gifted. Music or playing an Instrument like the Guitar or ukulele "is like telling a story". Thanks for the stories you told while you play, Thanks for this interessting talk to all of you guys (learned so much), and thanks for the wonderful Isn't s he Lovely and the Jam at the end!!!! Awesome podcast as always!🌟 Stay safe and healthy and be blessed from Germany, Bettina
Thanks again for taking the time to share sheer talent. Ian’s talent and his passion for passing on his knowledge to inspire his students. All I can say is Wow, how fortunate are his students. I think I can still hear, no, feel the guitar sustain ringing out from the UK. PS where did he get that extra finger, as some of the chords were excessive. Respect. Have a great day guys.
Tabs please for “Ku’u O Mahuka”. I kid, I kid! What a wild series of historical events in late 1700’s that took place in Hawaii prior to “conquest” by explorer/colonizer-minded white dudes. If there’s ever a re-enactment &/or animation, the soundtrack is already recorded, as of this podcast. This amazingly densely rich episode of this podcast…
Also originally - When Johnny Comes Marching Home. So like many kids songs it has a dark history associated with the melody. What a great tune though huh?! 🤙🎵 Aloha!
@@musicianosullivan Wow I never knew that. Should've guessed from the lyrics but then again I haven't thought about this song a single time since learning it as a child, so hearing you play resurfaced some deep musical memories. It was truly awesome by the way! I've never heard it so dark. It fits the mood of the original song very well!
This channel is the most uplifting thing I’ve found on UA-cam
