BTW....You are not required to give your ID to the police, unless you are arrested. They love to use the "I need it for my report" trick. Sure, they put it in their report, but they run you for warrants, etc. You can just give them your first n last name and the station address!!

Some states (and Florida is one of them) have what are known as "Stop and identify statutes" which allow an officer to demand your ID if they have reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed. In this case, "Miss Congeniality" apparently told the officer that the reporter or cameraman had assaulted her. Even though that was obviously a lie, it gave the police officer the reasonable suspicion they needed to demand ID's.

Totally agree!!! This news story is taking me back to my student days… We’d walk into Denny’s at 2 AM, all drunk-and it took us 20 minutes to get to our table because the floor was SO fricken sticky… and it was a struggle, my friends.

She lost her cool. Unprofessional is an understatement she somehow made Dennys look even worse than the roach situation did by running off at the mouth. Feigning knowledge of the law , Corp lawyers would have told her politely to shut up. Why did the officers ask did anyone touch somebody? Everything was recorded
She had every right to tell the news crew to leave the property. The employees could even have pushed them out when they refused to leave (as happened in another video). Of course, the news guy was correct when he was standing on the public sidewalk and said he didn't have to leave from there.
I wish the employees were so adamant about keeping their restaurants clean and safe.
Imagine if she just said, “we were shut down by the state of Florida over unsanitary conditions, those conditions have been resolved and we were approved to reopen”

I lived in Ft.Lauderdale for 15 years and I have been to that Denny's before, it was so filthy 8 years ago I walked out. I have a bunch of friends who've been there in the past two years and they said as soon as they walked in, they left because of the stench.

This is the second video of Denny's employees confronting reporters who investigate violations to sanitary health regulations. After watching this I will never go to a Denny's.

They made the people following the law and doing nothing wrong have their names entered into a criminal database, there is now a record of them, and they were the ones that were escorted away from doing their business. Maybe you are okay with having your rights trampled upon.
