Can you do a 2021 best entry level/ bang for buck (1/2 ton towable) bumper pull and then explain its shortcomings. Entry level meaning new young family needing a small bunkhouse (maybe a slideout?). I am imagining a 20-22 footer type deal (20BHS or 22BHS). Sub $25K (sale price) I assume? GVW around 6000-7000 lbs I assume for most half tons.
A very good starter RV for a young family. Like myself and a lot of other folks I started small, and ended up with a 39 foot fifth wheel and a dually truck.
I have a Grand Design BH, I just wish those bunk mattresses were more comfortable. Yes, you could put a different one in there, but then the space becomes so incredible cramped, you cant roll over. lol
Personally, I think this is small truck towable too. I could tow this behind my Tacoma well within my payload limits and with 2000lbs of tow capacity to spare!
@@adinlucena7047 Exactly! That's one thing I've learned from this channel. There's a lot of trailers that are within my tow rating, but not payload. Even with this trailer I could only take two or three people and some stuff in my cab, else I might be over payload.
Nice small camper but the prices of campers these days are out of control. It may be on sale for 18k but they are saying sticker is 25k. My 2017 Starcraft Launch Extreme 17BH was 17k or so with an extended warranty.
$19k; on sale? Damn! I have to be honest; I am completely perplexed on the vast price points. I understand options play roles. With that said. They still seem to be all over the map. Even within the same manufacturer.
68" bunks... Or 5'8"... definitely for kids. Teenagers these days are blowing past 5' 8". It'd be nice if they make them 6'. Other than that, love the bunkhouse floor plan.
Amazing little camper . I love seeing the engineering for space in these small units, as I grew up in and owned my own small camper . Now I have a 34 ft. Beast , but hey that's the way it goes .
I have the Clipper Cadet 17CBH, slightly stripped down version and it is an awesome little rig once you put a real mattress in it! EDIT: Wow prices went up... I don't have the slide in mine BUT my 'sale' price was only 15k CAD in 2020...This is like 24K in Canada now based on that 'sale' price....
@@Anon-ft1yb Some people do weekend travel and some do long term as some folks don't need 2500sq ft of living space and wish to travel as a digital nomad for months or years.
It is. We got a 2019 Bullet 2200BH for a thousand less. Bigger bunks, murphy bed but no slide. Traded it in this past year on a 2019 Rockwood 2509s for the same price as this.
I have a forest river which is almost identical to this with the main difference being I don't have a slide out. While the extra floor space would be nice, you lose an entire row of cabinets over the table with the slide out option so we opted out. Other than that it's a great little trailer for my wife and our kids. Pulls very easily with a 1/2 ton. Also if you're interested in renting yours out, people go nuts for this floorplan.
We've had ours since Aug. 2020 been on six extended weekend trips and we love it. We're towing it with a Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 and a Bull Ox with zero issues dont even notice it behind us at times... A/c is amazing, frig had plenty of room for a long weekend, sitting area is small but we never use it we're outside when we eat it's good for food prop.. If your more into being outside and living life then this little thing is great for newly empty nesters like us
Hi , have you ever done any reviews on Black Series campers ? I would like to know your opinion on them . Are they as good of quality as they look ? I am up in Canada and we do not see any of them here . Would like to see a review on the hq19 or 17 thanks .
Sort of like my FSX bunkhouse. It’s nice but I’d miss my Murphy with the sofa. Plus my kitchen table is campside with a nice big window. Sitting and looking out having coffee is the best part of my day. And brushing your teeth in the kitchen sink is no bueno.
Is the microwave a convection oven combo? Really wish Coachmen would put the standard 3 burner stove/oven combo in all their trailers, even the smaller ones. Really no reason not to. Yeah, I definitely would remove the bunks and turn that area into a small office/workstation space. It's sad that no manufacturers seems to offer that as a floor plan option. Would really be nice for an individual that has to live full time on the go and still get work done.
Pretty discusting not having a hand wash sink in the bathroom. If you use just the shower and someone before you use the the toilet, you will self contaminate when you grab the door knob. You don't usually wash your hands after you shower...think about it.
So nice but if you have older children I highly suggest full size bunks because the twins are let’s be real smaller then a twin size obviously but it’s so claustrophobic and you can bare,y fit
Will this thing pass the test of time . The affordability and towability makes it appealing . Dont want to waste money in something that will fall apart in a few years . Those super expensive trailers are just not affordable .
Love the sink style, but the dinnet looks cramped for adults sitting across from each other. Our FSX Forest River trailer has a huge dinnet slide very comfortable for adults. I hope that dinnet is at least 72 inches wide maybe 74. Some single axel trailers have tea time play dinnets for children. Not for adults.
Curious what camera setup you use for doing these RV tours? Is it mounted on your chest or hat? Doesn't appear to be handheld, because the camera seems really stable.
Sadly no sink inside the bath, nor a sink shower setup. They could had giving a little less kitchen counter and made more space for sink inside shower. Awful trying brush teeth- cleanse above toilet or kitchen sink which is gross.
Almost identical to my Independence Trail 17bhds except for the bottom bunk door....the storage door on mine is completely below the bunk. I have used mine several times, and enjoy my little trailer.. just myself and 2 dogs. Got this size for my son and his family to borrow😁 or grandkids to come along.
So happy to see some smaller campers, not just ones that need there own zip code. Really enjoyed the video
Their* own zip code

Do you think that’s enough space to accommodate a drunken 4 man brawl? Cause me and my 3 brothers like to get drunk and fight. We fight a lot 👊
Yes
Thanks for showing a more affordable unit. The tips about loading, maybe moving the mirror, installing a curtain/divider are nice.
My son and daughter in law just bought one. They love it.
A very good starter RV for a young family. Like myself and a lot of other folks I started small, and ended up with a 39 foot fifth wheel and a dually truck.
Same here but now looking to down size . The salesmen said we are going from one extreme to the next.
Love the screw totally missing the "joist" at 1:19....
was thinking the same thing... wonder where else they simply just missed a vital screw
Thanks for looking at some of the smaller trailers.
I can tow this with my Geo tracker!!! Yes finally!
Like seeing these smaller units its really helpful to see these detailed videos for deciding what to go with for our Tacoma
I have a Grand Design BH, I just wish those bunk mattresses were more comfortable. Yes, you could put a different one in there, but then the space becomes so incredible cramped, you cant roll over. lol
Like the small TT's but, not a BH fan. Thanks for sharing JD just like always a great review.

Shhhhh Dont speek up he is the all knowing tow god

We tow the non-slide version of this from 2018 with our Chrysler Town & Country. Works well, but with 4 kids now, we've almost outgrown it.
Looks like that's just about all you need for traveling. Good job, thanks.
what about full time rv living?

I bought a Keystone Summerland Mini 1850 FL for $11000
I pull this with a Honda Passport (V6) SUV WITH 5k lb towing capacity. We are a family of 3 with 2 medium to large dogs. We love it.
Why these manufacturers haven't started making and designing trailers for long-term living yet is beyond me. These are weekend trailors.
isn't that what it's intended for?
@@Anon-ft1yb Some people do weekend travel and some do long term as some folks don't need 2500sq ft of living space and wish to travel as a digital nomad for months or years.
"4400 pounds? 1 ton dually recommended"

Facebook market place is your friend. I got a 32 ft Montana mountaineer 2007, for $5000. Talk with people, not dealerships.
I bought the no slide version for 11500 in 2018👌
we love ours!! just me and husband and we use the top bunk for storae of our clothes on the weekends
Love the channel. I noticed that you haven't mentioned anything about Dutchman travel trailers. Do they not make that brand anymore?
We are getting this same rv in 3 months
Good for a mountain bike getaway. Remove that bunk and put the bikes on the inside.

A cabinet above the toilet and this would be ideal for me. I'm definitely a small unit kind of guy.. um, I mean... I like the small campers.

4:21 going inside

Cool
Warm weather camping only. The tanks aren't in a "heated, enclosed underbelly" like on higher end TTs.

My old camper was identical to this. You can flip that bottom bunk up from that outside door. Gives you a bunch of storage space.
What are your thoughts on the Coachmen Freedom Express vs. the Gulfstream Envision? No specific model.
You will most definitely need a Diesel 2500 if you want to pull that safely.
That’s something I’m Gunna have to go look at !!
Very bland color scheme. Futon would be better to make a living room/bedroom area.
Thanks man
How do you seal those ripple sided trailers when driving in the rain?
This would be perfect for a family wanting to camp in some national parks. Very cool.

Very nice back splash.. I was thinking the same thing about the curtain for privacy in front of the bed.
Ooo a coachmen. Hopefully you seen the new keystone Arcadia soon. I got to today and it’s different

Hey. I'm looking for a camper the my 94 F150 can haul. Recommendations?
i would recommend this here in the video, its nice.
It would depend on your trucks configuration, but I would think so
A double sink w covers and a medicine cabinet above the toilet should be standard now... 12v fridge as well.....I like it though
I wonder why they didn't put doors on the storage under the dinette
Seen them for 12k on the low side and 15k on mid side
Where? Probably the most basic model, no slide.
That was 3 - 4 years ago, not lately since the pandemic and surge of RV sales along with delays in supply chain mfg. issues.

Nice to see a small rig that's not a Murphy bed, tho a couch is always nice.

u keep mentioning trx lol people that can afford a 80k truck will have many other options.. i like this lil camper
All these beds should always have privacy curtains. My 2 cents 🙂
Hate it when the bed it close to the door. The bed always has to be on the other end of the door side.
Do the 2020 keystone bullet 290bhs
What’s wrong with the sound?
Think my Mic battery died
Does the front bed fold up to make a couch?
Doesn't look like it but a jack knife bed would be a great idea.
No
I like it... Except I hate a BH trailer. lol
These trailers are flimsy 0/10
They're gonna be flimsy to be light.
Lol trx or a raptor if I could afford those trucks I'd be looking at a different trailer
A door to the outside right where children would be sleeping is a deal breaker for me!
My flagstaff trailer tent have more space than this !!
I am 6'3 1,90cm and 6 foot 3 Ain;t that tall my friend
Do you have utility one iTHE Bacte Harl Tools
So a 6cyl. Nissan Frontier would not pull it?
Would have much rather seen a wetbath than that tiny cramped toilet and shower.
copy that...AND how about a sink in that bathroom too?! WTF - the kitchen sink is also...the bathroom sink...since it's the ONLY sink...
