This is really cool but personally I’d pull those bunks out and put a couple of light weight recliners or a little love seat of some type. Make it a nice little weekend couples rig.
I agree. That bunk assumes a family of 4 and this is a couples size weekender at best.
I agree with you, get rid of those bunks for recliners or loveseat for sure.
Plus if coachman sees this they could spin the bathroom and put the fridge in the kitchen and possibly make the bathroom a tad bigger.
@@rebellucy6200 yeah it's a "bring the kids" trailer.
It's an upgrade from a pop up, the soft sides aren't always great with kids when stormy wet and windy weather hits... You don't live in it.
Awful lot of money for something so small and not built to last
With a family of 4 tired of tents, this is perfect. We only get out a few weekends each year. We eat outside anyways so no need for a table. Like a tent on wheels with a bath. Love it!!
As a single traveler I would love to have just a twin size bottom bunk, have a bigger fridge and a place to eat & relax where the queen bed is. And yes to more windows.
Wow, that is a unique floor plan.
Beats a pop up because it's a hard sided trailer, and you can still bring the kids... It's not something to spend all day in, just a place to sleep out of the weather and not have to go outside to use the bathroom.
I think the idea of all the windows would definitely make this a contender as far as small trailers go:
Thank you for reviewing something that is reasonably priced. I think we all appreciate that. Congratulations on your new truck!
This is great. One segment that I think has a potential for growth is the no frills, "glorified tent" market for larger families 4-6+ kids. There are a lot of great TT's and 5th wheels that have tons of amenities and sleep lots of people. However, most of the time you need a 3/4 ton or bigger truck to support the GCVWR. Unfortunately, there are no production trucks that comfortably seat more than 5 people. Consequently, you have all of that wonderful sleeping space but then need two vehicles if you were to actually utilize the space. I would love to see someone design a camper with 4 bunks, a queen bed (a Murphy bed would be fine) and a sleeper dinette that had a GVWR of under 4K. That way, you could use the large SUV that you need for the kids to also pull the trailer and still be under the GVWR of the SUV when you include all of the kids, stuff, and tongue weight. At 4K, you could also possibly use some full size vans with a tow package as well. Much of this could be alleviated if Ford brought back the EXCURSION! lol
A XL F150 crew cab will haul a lot of trailers and six people. The center armrest folds up for the sixth seat and is the standard setup of the base model F150. A mini van would tow this no problem.
No table to eat on if the weather's not cooperating. I think a fold-up top bunk (think train berth) and a small dinette convertible to bed below would solve that issue.
Seen one last week when I was browsing a couple lots, the price was 13,499.
Definitely something to look into if you just want a weekend away from reality
@tbnrprimestudios1232 a weekend getaway can be had much cheaper than the headache of setup and tear down x2
I would keep the upper bunk, for sure and maybe give it some multi-use practicality (i.e. extra storage or something), but the lower bunk, I'd extract and use a nook for a pop-up desk of the sort.
Yea that was a head-scratcher for me. Seems weird to have a bunkhouse in such a small unit. And unless you wanna take on renovating it yourself, it’s a lot of bare open space that you can’t use for much else, except maybe throw your luggage and some storage bins/baskets there. I like your idea of just a top bunk and something else like a desk underneath.
@@ryancaldwell9463 I mean, it's cool seeing these guys really max out their builds, but like you, I couldn't wrap my mind around the concept of the bunkhouse either. I think it would probably be even more practical to incorporate a Murphy bed (fold out from the wall), so to speak.
Yea for real. I would think a couple and 2 kids under 12 would just be on top of each other in each other’s way in a camper this small. 😂
@@ryancaldwell9463 For sure, or dare I say, in a tent outside the camper.
More windows, thru wall ac above fridge. 800 watts of solar on the roof. It would make a great stealth camper or moochdocker.
LOVE IT! I agree, more windows, a faucet attached to the shower to use like a sink if needed.
Amazing I want to buy this camper ASAP.
Cool little camper. I'd definitely swap out the bunks for a booth to eat at, that also turns into a bed
I wish the top bunk folded up to make the bottom double as a little couch area. That’s what I would want.
Yes! Absolutely needs more windows! & that’d look great too, with more air flow as well! So cute & surprising for the size! I like it! 😊
Love your ideas for it. Yes to the windows. I’ll definitely be taking a look at these 🔥🔥🔥
Very cool, love your window idea!
This is super cute!!! I like that a camper this size has a dry bath and bunk beds!!
Cool! I love it!
Wow this is a really cool little camper!! I never would’ve guessed that this had bunk beds! And a dry bath? Wow!! Very cute, thanks for showing it.😊
This is a nice unit as it comes for either a couple with younger kids or a single parent with a couple kids. People confuse camping and glamping. For people that only want to spend a minimum amount of time in a camper and want to set by the campfire, go fish, hike, bike, or do most any other outdoor activity this would be perfect for what it’s meant for. Sleeping and having a basic cooking and rest room set up. I cook outdoors when camping and don’t rely on needing a freezer. Between that fridge and a cooler I can supply food for 4 for a 3 day trip with no issues.
Love the bunk beds !
I love it, but I’d put an 8k btu window unit on the back wall above that fridge so that small generators in that 2000 to 2500 watt range can power it in summer.
This is a nice compact trailer. I love that it has bunk bed for something this size.
Hey JD, I hope you're having a great day! This Catalina134 bunk house unit is amazing! I think it would be cool to see the dual pane acrylic windows in it! I do wish the shower had the shower surround on the walls. I hope they do add afew more windows to it! But it being a bunk house unit without a slide-out is awesome.! Thank you JD for showing us this unit. Your fan Leonard.
Ohh this would be perfect for Inkcarceration instead of tent camping for my hubby, our son, and I!! I love it! Maybe in 2 years, I can get a loan for oneof these, we shall see.
dude this is sick i might have to keep my eye on this
Yes! To the windows!!
I love this. I am not an Rv'er. I primattive camp uaing tents, hammocks, and hot tents. Things of this nature. A small camper a few guys could use on state land for primative overland style camping. This would be a great camper for hunting. Small, good ground clearance, light weight, and multiple beds. This is something I would consider an option from my tents. Although a bit too pricey at 20,000. Maybe 10 to 12 thousand would make this very attractive.
Love this and would prefer more windows. Love the bunks for my needs.
Love this. More windows would be nice 👍
Nice little RV. Looks like it is configured more as a sleeping area. As such, I think it has too many windows. Maybe one window on each side is adequate. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.
very well done
YES! More windows! But it's cool
No, on the windows in the South, Yes in the North. More things to break and leaks, but in open window climates, ok. I like the bunks. I had a bunk house and it was a great storage space and sleep option. Lets be real, if one is say, an older couple, cramming in the camper queen isnt always the arrangement .........all the time. I would make the bed a jack knife so you get a couch. Move the JBL up and give it a double door or at least a freezer. I like that style of cook top over that other one with the glass cover and plastic knobs on top that melt . In these small rigs, we have to realize were in a camper and not trying to bring our whole house with us. I went from a 31 to a 19 and do the same thing.
More Windows are always better! Medicine cabinet where the bathroom mirror could be an option. Great trailer, JD! 🙌🏼
Awesome
It’s good for a family with small kids especially at that price. I totally agree with you it needs more windows.
I like the idea of a window by the top bunk, at the foot of the full size bed, and in the kitchen area.
Nice little rig for small family wanting to travel. Much better than a tent.
Put solar, batteries, would be set for anywhere.
Definitely another window in bunk area. One more foot of length and a bigger bed would sell this for me. Awesome floor plan!
Nice Does not need that many windows , People are taking then for over nigh trips beach, fishing what ever, its not like people are in them 24/7 and need that many windows That is my thoughts
Got a 96 couchman Cathalina sport as a class C. This would make a nice tow behind for it.
Looking for a small RV to pull with my dodge Dakota, single axle for my little family . My wife and I and our little daughter. The few windows doesn’t bother me, we’d be outside most of the time and I feel the more windows would add the higher price.
Definitely like it with more windows but great storage places for couples or friends that like to camp together
I like it
This is the perfect state park camper where it would fit in the vehicle parking spot Put some solar upgrades on it 😮 starting to like it more
My family and I are looking for something small with bunks, no slide and a dry bath. I like the direction of this. But man, if you get a rainy day there isn’t even a place to sit down short of the bed. I like the idea of an extra window in the top bunk and in the kitchen area. Would like to see a freezer. Maybe of the front bed could also be a Murphy bunk with like a folding table or something? Clearly this is encouraging outside living so it would be nice to have a propane hook up and maybe a spray port. Would love to see them add a second door to the front storage and maybe some sort of access to under the bunks for storage. Not sure why you just have an opening above the fridge? Look like things would fall out of there in transit. Maybe add a removable shelf and net? Not sure you need a sound system and exterior speaker. I would prefer an outdoor portable Bluetooth speaker. But overall 2000lbs with bunks and a dry bath is pretty impressive!
Dig it. I too also remove the bunks and put a sofa there or a table. Would enjoy more windows. Yes. Love to test tow one of them sometime and give you our opinion. UGC for use of one.
Great layout…
It needs a small freezer (ice cubes, ice cream, a frozen pizza or dinner)
Other than it being a stick and tin unit, the layout is comfortable.
They really packed so much in that small trailer
Hi brother! Can you make a video talking about RVs insurances out there? If you don't mind.
Like the bunk beds and dry bath, great way to bring the Grandkids with. However, would rather have a van to be able to get out of a sticky situation without going outside. Sometimes a fast exit is the safest.
Of COURSE I'm finally back in CC and you're in INDIANA!! LOL!! 😂
Definitely more windows❤
I like my Motorhome, but I think that I could live with this one!!
Like other commenters, though, I would have preferred recliners or even open space in place of the bunks. That said, with big pillows, you can make a couch out of the bottom bunk and use the upper for storage.
Those bunks are a pleasant surprise. I love bunkhouses.
Too small for a family in my opinion
A Murphy option to make up for no seating would make this a killer set up. Get rid of the JBL system, put a detachable speaker and make the fridge a 8cu unit with a freezer. Leave the windows as they are and put a dark one on the door with a shade. Put the bed stand/flip up storage on the driver side of the camper. Put a larger door on the passenger side and offer a moryde sliding tray as an option to make up for the other door.
I like flipping the window to the top bunk and adding one by the sink. Not sure about one over the full size due to road debris. Great camper all around.
Fridge with no freezer? No thanks
And, being a Coachman, you can plan on it being at the dealer for 300+ days a year trying to fix it!
Nice for small trailer
This camper is really cute. I wouod want more windows and they should be double paned or weather proof for al seasons. I would definitely want a windo in the kitchen area and the top bunk definitely needs a window. I would suggest a window where the queen bed it but up higher on the curve. Not where your sleeping and or sitting. And a TV hook up for those rainy days. As you know ,any people are living the camper bus and van life now. As it is cheaper then owning a home. WITH house price through the roof. Many families are hime schooling and showing their children where the American history started. Plus you get to see all the beauty America has to offer.
Like your Catalina 134BHX Nice layout. Question, what about if you didn't want the bunkhouse?? Just have a dinette with 2 comfortable chairs & some more windows as you pointed out. Like a lot of its features, like the black tank flush. Storage up front big enough for a solar power set up nice!!
The 4Runner is happy it can take a trailer out for the weekend. Give it the windows- they are needed, regardless of price point.
I liked it alot but since no kids now. The bunk option should be like a two seat breakfast nook or whatever you call it for two. But could also be used as a desk. Or put in a comfy couch and a table you can mount so you could rig a TV plus work area and could sit and eat. Ijs
I don't need bunk beds. I'd pull them out and add another storage cabinet in the back and some kind of foldable desk or table in the rest of that space.
Expand bathroom with that space.
I think you are onto something with the acrylic windows. I'd add to that, up the insulation factor and include a heated/enclosed underbelly and make it a bit of a more premium unit with azdel sides. It's hard to find a small unit like this that is really a solid 4-seasons camper, built better than your average small, entry level camper. To me, you might tow this thing all over the country and might appreciate being able to use and enjoy it in all weather conditions, from the heat of TX/AZ to the cold in the mountains for skiing!
Pretty slick. Yeah doublepane lotsa windows is a good idea as long as you dont sacrifice strength and rigidity. I like it as a 2 person getaway, maybe 4 but more often would use it as a two,,, but clever use of bunkhouse nonetheless I could see value there…. Make a bit of room for solar and an inverter/battery bank and it would be a nice rig I would consider…
It’s super cute and great for families. However it needs at least 1-2 more windows.
I'd love acrylic and more windows! I don't need the bunk house, so I'd love to see one without the bunk house.
Would make a great single weekend fisherman camper. I wish manufacturers would install backsplashes in the kitchen area. No solar correct?
It is fine the way it sits
Without a place to eat, it’s a no go.
yes where is the table
I think its under the queen bed
@@1981pjt Nope.
A small table that drops to a single bed would be a much better option than the 2 bunks...it seems awkward with the fridge right next to the beds?? I love the size of it though and for such a small rig, the washroom is a really good size.
Could make the bottom bunk a dinette for 2 that turns into a bed
This comes as no surprise. Sunset park has a floor plan in their Sunlite LTD line very similar to this. It’s been a huge success for them. I already see Coachmen dealerships advertising an 13 RDX and RKX models but no photos. Which most likely they’ll be a dinette option where the bunks are. I bet the RKX will be a rear kitchen model with the bathroom in the corner where the bunks are in this model. A window at the sink would be nice. Also, I wish Forest River would stop skimping on the overhead storage cabinets! That’s my biggest pet peeve with them!
I would be willing to invest in one of these but they would have to change a couple of things. I wouldn’t want the bunk beds. With removing the bunk beds you could have more storage and a larger bathroom area. I’m like you it needs more windows. A nice window up front plus a window on other end of the bed for a draft of air and yes a bigger window or add a window behind the sink and stove. Does the front bed make into a table for dining? Then you could leave the bottom bunk bed. It’s light enough for me to tow with my Subaru outback.
Can you give us a tour of the 134RDX? It was on the blue sticky note.
Windows are great, but much harder to cool in direct sun. On such a small trailer too much glass could comprimise the structural rigidty. Also easier for bad guys to break into when unoccupied. The last thing is cost. Windows add to the price and most people looking for something small expect a small price tag.
Yes, the window above and a small window by the kitchen. Does the bed fold up into a table?
Looks cool but I think a flip up bottom bunks and a small door to the rearwould add a lot of flexibility to the floor plan.
More windows would be awesome and it would be very nice rv
What you are describing, a compact RV with windows all over, would be the Alto Safari Condo.
For a solo person I def don’t like the top bunk but maybe they could make the bottom bunk optional to fold down or use without the mattress as a table move the window up some.
Windows are security risks only need enough for practical airflow! If you have one of these your only inside to cook sleep and get clean!
Yes!. it need 4 more windows like you said
Just wonder if more windows compromise structural integrity. I don't know, not a mechanical engineer. Do like style. Prics is affordable for weekend trips. Thank you!
Looks like competition for sunset rv, get rid of the bunk beds and roof ac,install a conventional home type window unit ac and solar with as much 12v as possible and they'd have something. I'm currently in the market for something like that to pull behind my bronco with a hitch weight rating of 350lbs.
I am new to camping and exploring what to purchase. I understand the dry bath, but what happens to any water that gets outside the shower and ends up near the toilet? Also, does the manufacturer offer a wet bath option?
Why more windows? So you can sit in a trailer and watch everyone else outside having fun?
Would love more windows that are dual pane
Yes air flow
Get rid of the bunks and wall put in a bar type countertop and stools some outlets raise the window accordingly would also allow for upper cabinets with lighting . Would obviously be solo or couples only .
Have an option bunk beds or a couch. 4 people in that is to small.
Does the front bed convert into a dinette?
Strip out the sound system and either a larger fridge with freezer or storage.
Bigger fridge! 11 times out of 10! A 7.1 cuft Vasani can easily fit in that space!
this is very nice. I just don't like the curtain in the shower it's begging for quick water damage. was it any storage space under the bed? it just needs a bigger fridge and a bit more storage space. its beautiful.
Replace the bunk with a tiny dinette and I’m sold asap. Can you tow this with a minivan?
All the windows proposed, especially if dual pane, would jack the price up considerably. I'm thinking that this is not something people wanna put $15k into, but I could be wrong. We just trade GeoPro 20BHS (outstanding little camper) on a fifth wheel bunkhouse as kids kept growing and we wanted to go to Canada and other longer trips. Having that larger space saved our sanity. Therefore, I'm probably not the one to really put too much input on something like this. I do appreciate you showing smaller and cheaper units though
