the story of this game is so good. I quit WoW after years of being abused by the devs and started FF14 2 weeks ago and you'll be damned if i'm skipping a cutscene in this game.
This trailer also represents FF14's journey from its near fail to the long fight to become and remain the amazing game it is, the Archer is 1.0, Warrior = 2.0(or better known as Realm Reborn), Dragoon= Heavensward, Monk and Samurai= Stormblood, and the Dark Knight = Shadowbringers.
Interesting FF nerd lore interconnect: FF4 a story about the adoptive son of the king becoming a dark knight at his father's bidding and waging war around the world. Eventually realizing his kingdom are bad people and going on a journey to right his wrongs, in order to regain the trust of the mages of mystia cecil undergoes a trial that allows him to become a paladin. (and his class change there by proving his departure from his past misdeeds) Ultimately the story culminates with going to the moon to fight the main entity that had been pulling the strings and causing all the issues in the world. (side note that lunar whale in gyrabania better be part of the EW storyline I STG) Lastly the collectors edition of EW gives you a minion palom, one of the twin mages among an expansive cast of temp part members. Basically I get a huge kick out of the thematic transition and the tie in to FF4 and really how 14 has casual nods/tie ins ect. for long term fans of FF.
I had the privilege to be at NA Fanfest in 2018 when the first teaser version of this was debuted and I always describe it as an experience that was truly unbelievable because I have never felt such a pure wave of unrelenting joy from start to finish. Still gives me chills.

So far this is probably my most favorite expansion. I think stormblood and heavensward was good in their own ways but i think shadow bringers just really pushes it way beyond both of those.
The fact that this game made a way in-lore for you to literally split open the sky deserves so much praise. Someone thought about what that would have to mean, and then they made it happen.

I remember my playthrough FFXIV (I stopped 85% into Endwalker, I stopped some time after landing on the moon, got bored), I stayed away from all the trailers until I played through ALL the Main Story Questlines. I remember my emotional response after a certain person was poisoned. Then I watched Heavensward and did that with all the expansion. I always played the MSQs then watched the expansion trailers introducing me into the next expansion. So far (and still is like almost everyone), my favorite expansion IS Shadowbringers. This trailer always gets me, such a great song.
I'm genuinely curious how were you able to go through ARR when Endwalker ends up boring you(I guess at the bunnies, which is the only boring part). I quit FF14 like 3 times till I finally got out of ARR, but everything afterwards was awesome. By the way the moon is like 30% into Endwalker, you would've been in for a treat.
A nice detail:. The job changes the WoL does during the trailer go in the order of their job changes throughout the expansions: 1.X Archer, 2.X Warrior, 3.X Dragoon, 4.X Monk and Samurai, then 5.X Dark Knight. Also, one thing that may help avoid confusion in the future: All of the Scion stuff in this trailer happens in the time **before** you arrive.

Started playing this past week, so I'm wayyyyy back. But I still tear up watching the trailers. Trying to get my Pugilist stuff done, but I'm getting my butt kicked trying to emplace a couple of striking dummies, of all things. Eh well. I'll keep at it, the universe depends on me, and stuff.
I have returned to this game since July and this is the first time I finished watching the trailer. The lore is indeed touching and impressive. I shed tears over Emet’s defeat, a very rare occasion I felt pity towards a villain. I love the idea there is no absolute right or wrong, pure or evil, light vs darkness. You can be a hero to someone in this world but at the same time a villain in someone else’s eyes. Hail to all Warriors of Light and Darkness.
I don't know what Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers is, but after watching this, I'm sad to hear it's the last one! ... I'm just joking, of course! Your facial expressions are super fun to watch, and it's nice hearing someone nerding out about lore things. Of course, it's also great to watch someone break into tears at emotional bits, so I'm excited for the rest of your content >:P I've seen some choice parts already, so I can't wait to binge 'em all soon.
