Thank you for sharing the story of the legendary being, Jetsuen Mila Repa.🙏🏻
According to the Tibetan text, Mila’s mom and sister had not died after he came back from mastering black magic but in fact he learnt that his mom had died when he returned back from getting teachings from Marpa(Mila’s spiritual master).
Yes, I too heard the same. But the concept is 100% the same.
He was saying wrong on many aspects about Tibetan Buddhism.
Marpa's teacher was Naropa who was an abbot at the Nalanda University. While teaching at Nalanda Naropa met a Dakini who was disguised an old lady asked him many questions on Dharma which Naropa answered correctly said you have only learnt the bookish knowledge, not the experiential one or the ultimate one. To receive the experiential knowledge you have to seek master Tilopa. Marpa left Nalanda and headed toward what is known North India as at that time both Kashmir region and Bihar and UP were the great monasteries and gurus lived. The place is called Trilokpur, HP where Tilopa is supposed to have meditated. Naropa was also subjected to trials (12 major and 24 minor) by Tilopa before he was given the teaching.
"Marpa left Nalanda..." should be "Naropa left Nalanda..."
Thanks!
Wow! Awe-interesting. Thank you
And the story of Milerapa does it end with Milerapa being Marpas teacher? Why does every song of the hundred thousand songs of Milerapa go (paraphrasing) Homage to my teacher Marpa who is (enlightened)? What scriptural biography of Milerapa matches what was said in this video?
Wow...Sadhguru Ji...I have heard the Naamthaar( Story of Englightened one) of Jitsun Milarepa since my childhood. The very narration of Sadhguru is very powerful & felt differently within myself. Sadhguru Ji is not an ordinary human..indeed Englightened one. 🙏🙏🙏

Our generation is a lucky one to have sadhguru.
Silence is consent.
One dharmic lesson Milarepa learned: While Milarepa was cooking a nettle soup near a stream, suddenly a strong storm came and blew away the only piece of clothing he had in the air and got tangled on top of a tree. While trying to catch the cloth, the wind knocked the earthen pot down and broke it.
At that moment he realized the emptiness and impermanence of the material world.
at one time or another in life, we have all experienced like-lessons. its up to us to learn from it. though often we choose to ignore it, and rush back to indulgence of desire and sense. i know i have. i pray to the spirit of milarepa that i can have the strength to choose detachment and positive austerity to break those bonds. to separate the water of consciousness from the oil of sensual indulgence. step away from the wheel of samsara. namaste.
... and there was a thick lining of encrusted nettles in the pot from years of cooking.

Mila Repa's lineage is known for the practice of mystic heat known as Tumo in Tibetan - ability to generate body heat without clothes through meditation. Repa (cotton clad) is the epithet given to Mila as he survived the bitter winter in Himalayan caves with just cotton cloth.
In 1970s American doctor such as Herbert Benson of Harvard University has conducted the experiment on the Tibetan Buddhist monks who practice Tumo meditation were amazed to learn the ability of monks to dry the wet cloths on their bare bodies and increase body temperature in freezing temperature through Tumo meditation.
Dr Benson is one of the earliest one to adopt Mindfulness meditation as therapy in the West.

@Buddhist why no?
@Buddhist Jay Lord Buddha. Jay Yogi Milarepa. Sir, I respect you. But, a small request to you. I know many Yogis. You also know many great Yogis. We all know about their stories of life. But , the stories can't help us in our spiritual path. We should experience something within us. For that we need a Guru in our life. Sadhguru is one of them, who can guide the humanity towards self-realization.
@Buddhist Thank you sir.
I read a epic about Milarepa, "The life of Milarepa" by Lobzang p. Lhalugpa by every sentence of book I was not able to hold in my tears coming out by beautiful narration of the epic.😥
The parting scenes deaths utter poverty oh really tears and ineffable pathos of life
Why should God Almighty create this world? Oh God !!!
I really enjoyed hearing this story of the great Milarepa . Thank you Sadhguru. Also thank you to the Tibetans who have given their comments and added their knowledge to this beautiful story.
These are teachings that impacts the most , when Sadhguru narrates the story and you can live its frequency vibrating within you it feels like a wonderful journey and travel across the century from the comfort of your own seat. Don’t record the words but find a place within you to store the tale. Namaskaram Sadhguru I love how you rekindle a dimming candlelight.
I heard this stories from my father (i am from ladakh) milarepa was one of the most important yogi in kyagu lineage one of the 4 lineage of tibetan Buddhism.

Thank you Sadhguru 🙏🏽 Many years ago I travelled through Tibet from China, I was on my way to India for the first time. Almost 10 years later in London, I received a Marpa Empowerment from Karmapa himself. It's so beautiful to listen to you tell this story of Milarepa 🙏🏽, my wish is to meet you in person one day in this lifetime, to thank you for light you shine for all 🙏🏽 You are like a jewel in the heart of a lotus - Om Mani Peme Hung 🙏🏽
These days Milarepa is still like a 'super-hero' for many Tibetan kids, they read comic books about him to learn his stories.
Tibet is a laboratory for evolving human consciousness, at one point in time the whole indian subcontinent was like Tibet
It comes and goes through all civilizations in different ages i think. The spiritual old shamanisms of Europe for example are having a comeback.
We come from our decendents the indo-European tribes,so perhaps we inherited some of the teachings, but it was altered trough time and different ways of tribal life and culture.

Yes brother u r right...sad guru ji is a wise man..perhaps most logical being in India with such profound knowledged and wisdom...but..some of what he tell stories of Buddhism is not right....best part of Buddhism is we have our history got written...as the bond of teacher and student so immense and often resulted in enlightenment....written can't be wrong ...unless crooked to look authentic...in case if one does ..than one does not follow the principle of Buddha ...as one is not permitted to lie amongst many principles a Buddhist must abide by.... 🙏🙏🙏
