CYCLE REPLICA JOOP ZOETEMELK, PERFORMED AT NOTTINGHAM BY RALEIGH COMMEMORATING THE TRIUMPH OF JOOP ZOETEMELK AT THE TOUR DE FRANCE OF 1980, FRAME WITH TUBING STEEL 20-30.(TEAM TIRALEIGH) - Розваги
I'm from Nottingham, rode for Trent Valley CRC back in the day and I approve of this video!
A certain top? amateur in the 1980's trained exclusively on one of these, never lucky enough to ride one, but I am butchering a touring bike with a new paint job to emulate. Brill. Loved stripping the bike down once a month, meditating.
I heard that the later pro models were built at their Ilkeston site.
wow friend!!! Now that is pure dedication to a bicycle. I am very glad that you told me your story. For me it is a pleasure to hear it. Greetings friend and thank you for leaving me your comment; )
I'm so glad that you didn't paint that bike you kept the original history of that bike, like always your judgement is accurate, amazing great! job.
thanks friend!!! ; )
It didn't need it. The bikes original paint job still looks pretty good.
Had one of these as a kid. Really didn't know what the second hand bike that I had was back then but every morning passing the neighbors tire aggressive chow/lab mix was an easy task... thanks Raleigh 😊
Currently doing the same on a mid 80s Panasonic DX 3000. A good cleaning, replace any worn parts, build back up, and pedal away! great video!
Come on!!! hit hard and beautiful bike, thanks for your comment; )
I have a soft spot for old Raleigh bikes..Great job!
Nice work! I love vintage bike restoration.
YES!! JUST found a Raleigh super record! gonna redo that joint this fall! Very nice!
Enjoy! ; )
Absolutely beautiful bike . Thanks for taking the time to make this . Both my bikes are vintage and could never be replaced. Raleigh and shogun , old but never let me down 👍👍👍
Hello friend, I'm very glad you liked the video. For me it is a pleasure to read your comment and know the bicycles you have. I feel privileged. Thank you very much ; )
something about vintage bike that i love, That modern bike don't have !
While this isn't a "pro" model, that TI-Raleigh paint job is one of the best looking color schemes EVER!
I totally agree with you ; )
I'm sure you've heard it already but those drillium chainrings/cranks are worth a lot. Still good work.
Sweet upload dude! When I road ride for training, I ride the 1984 Peugeot PH11 (12-speed) that I’ve owned since new. I have single speed’d (freewheel) it, and swapped, or removed parts, but I still have all the original pieces (right down to the white leather Christophe toeclip straps, and Simplex rear derailleur!). Keep doing what you do!
thank you!!! You do well to preserve all the pieces, when you get tired of the single speed, you put them on again and new bicycle hehe. I appreciate your comment very much. ; )
Joop Zoetemelk was the best roadracer from Holland (The Netherlands) ever. Really special to see what you did with the bike mate👏👏👏👏❤
Thank you very much friend !!! I'm glad you liked how I left it restored. A special cyclist !!! Thanks for your comment ; )
You've gotta love Raleighs
I love raleigh !!! ; )
Nice vintage Raleigh rebuild!
Beautiful bike and what a great job restoring it. Video well put together as well. Love watching something like this.
I'm still using the same kind of Raleigh bike. It's good one for randonneuring and road racing. My Raleigh is not so shiny than yours but still useful. I love it. Great video!
I love knowing that there are people who still use their old bikes as the first day, thanks for your comment Tapio-T Vintage Velo, I love it.
I have the exact same bike! Wow! What a transformation! I gotta do the same with my bike now.
I'm glad you liked the final result !!! now get to work. Greetings friend for leaving your comment ; )
Man... Joop Zoetemelk, that’s not a name you hear a lot these days.. great job..
Joop Zoetemelk a great !!! Thanks for your comment ; )
Many records that will never be broken.... TDF kilometers riders, 11 top 5's and 6x second place because of Hinault and Merckx.... Lolol the only rider who COULD have won the Tour 7 times
Second in Le Tour 5 times and one once due to Hinault pulling out with knee tendinitis. Great rider was Joopy.
Carmen andthedevil yeah you know and I know that if Bernard Hinault thought for one hundredth of a second that he could've got his 3rd in a row he would've stayed in the race.... Had Zoetemelk crashed out he probably would have because Kuiper & Raymond Martin aren't making him nervous.... At that time Zoetemelk was the only rider who could beat him and he knew it.....
One of the greatest that Joopy --- you finish 2nd to Merckx twice 2nd to Hinault twice & stun the entire world by being the oldest world champion in history you're one of the greatest..... Lololol he came Top10 in the worlds like 7 times
Beautiful rebuild. Steel is real.

scored a very nice exact bike frame. After thoroughly cleaning it I sprayed clear coat dble protecting the decals.Putting nice mavic wheels thinking of going with STI shifters with 7 speed.Might have to stretch rear 4mm which is ok since its steel.

I just bought a 79 Raleigh Super Course and cant wait to get started on it. It is a one owner bike and the paint is in great shape. It has Suntour Cyclone f&r deraillures on it and I plan on upgrading the brakes to NOS Cyclone or Superbe and it will also get a Sella Italia Turbo saddle. Your video gives me motivation to get it done. I liked and subscribed. How many hours did you put in on thr resto. Beautiful.
Thank you very much for your subscription, I love that the videos serve as motivation, for this bike were about 12 hours, disassembly, cleaning, polishing and assembly. I also tell you that I waste more time, since I record everything and it takes a lot of work. You have a beautiful bike, I encourage the restoration. Regards and thanks for your comment ; )
Don Novicki I just picked up a 1977 Super Course. Same derailleur as your’s. Does yours have the concave rims?
Todd I dont have it here at my house yet because I jus had knee surgery. Im going to pick it up in a couple of weeks ans I will let you know
Hey Todd yes they are the concave rims.
OMG, great video... I've actually got that bike and would love to do the same mods on it, can you tell me the gear I'll need to match your wonderful bike. With a bit of luck, I'll share before and after photo. Keep up the awesome work 👏🙌
Thanks for a great video. I'm currently building a similar bike an d was working If you have any pictures of the front derailleur wiring. Thank you so much for your help
Tengo una de carrera pero no entiendo por que le agarramos cariño ah estas bicicletas xd
Had almost the same bike made in Japan . I’m planning to restore
Thank you very much for your comment, I hope you restore it and the bike is not forgotten, come on! cheer up!! ; )
Yes!
Good work 🙂 Leave abo and bell for for you!
Best regards from Northern black forest 🌲🌿🌳
Thanks friend for your comment ; )
Great restoration! I’m currently doing the same for an old Raleigh but I’m struggling to get the drive side BB out, what tool did you use? Raleigh didn’t conform to standardisation until the 90’s and it’s a nightmare to find a tool that fits
Hi, friend!!! If you don't want to go out of your way to find the right tool, they are quite expensive. What I would do would be to remove the cup, placing the frame in a vise, take the cup so it doesn't jump and turn the frame. I do not know if you understand me. If you want to buy the tool to remove the bowl, this is the cheapest I have been able to find. You should check that the measurement of the bowl is 37 or if it is not, it will not work for you. All the best ; )
