Amazed to see that Minié-balle - I have read somewhere that their introduction into the American Civil War caused horrendous bone-shattering damage to soldiers. Apparently before their arrival armies had been lining up at 100 yard distances with using relatively inaccurate spherical musket balls, which would often stop in the soldiers body. It took a while before the Generals realised that this new spin-stabilised, heavy projectile could be fired accurately at 500+ yards and battle lines were widened.
I just watched a group of guys in Germany digging WW2 in a swamp. They had a great modification on the fishing magnet. They had a sturdy telescoping aluminum pole and hard mounted their magnet on the end. They use this for probing the bottom after a hit on the metal detector. Now they were probing for grenades in the swamp, but I wouldn't suggest that. It just seemed like a handy piece of kit for getting in the mud or right to the edges of your canals.
Absolutely love the finds and the fact you guys switch it up in your videos. Magnet fishing or Metal Detecting, it's always a joy to see what history you bring back to the surface.
I'd deffo watch some documentaries of yours. The green bicycle murder vid hit me in the feels, so you've already shown ya got the talent for it. Uncle Ian is also very underrated talking direct to camera. And thank goodness you changed the name of the pointer to Olaf lol peepee indeed! Good vid fellas 👌
Another great informative video from the wendals love it when you unearth pieces of our history that is why you guys are the best looking forward to more great videos
another great video from the wendal crew, with more classic finds metal detecting well done lads, as regards to callums comments...any documentaries you do would be good watching material and interesting keep it up with the excellent videos.
To answer Cal, yes I would certainly watch. I teach history and can't get enough. Especially from a country that has history. A university professor once said "The problem in England is too much history and not enough geography., where as Canada has too much geography and not enough history." 😊
.450/577 Martini-Henri not used by The British in the Boer war, some native detachments and the Boers yes. Britain used the .303 Lee-Metford and Lee-Enfield.
