The Camino Portugues coastal route is gaining in popularity because of it's many attributes, brilliant coastal scenery relitively flat & shorter than the longer caminos & is equally divided between 2 cultures Portuguese & Spanish

How long did it take y'all to walk the Coastal Route? I will be on it in May this year. Thank you for the video and great visuals to help me. Stunning vistas!

Thanks I am glad that you enjoyed it, it took us 11 days but that included an extra day in Vigo so that I could visit the Islas Cies Nat Park an hour ferry ride from Vigo, absolutely stunning. The total distance from Porto is 280 kms of grade 1-2 on good surfaces, doesn't get easier than that. So depending on your fitness level, there are plenty of options to stretch it out to 13-14 days. There is another route which I only heard about after I made my travel plans & that is the Variante Espiritual from Pontevedra & rejoins the Camino in Padron, it adds another days journey but it's historical significance it's the journey that the Apostle's followers sailed their ship up the River Ulla to Padron. As you can see from the visuals life was really a beach as we mainly walked along the coastline. Have a Buen Camino from Canberra, Australia.

No you are not doing this in May, nor are we. In Australia you are not allowed overseas travel unless in extreme circumstances. Walking the Camino will not be considered extreme.

Thanks Chiara I did my Camino in early September & the temperutures were in the early 30´s. I am in Spain at the moment & the coastal temperatures are in the mid 20´s but you´re likely to experince quite changeable weather as we move on in autumn so I would pack some warmer gear but don´t overdo it as it´s always the problem that we pack our worst fears & always end up carrying too much weight, as long as you have a light Gorotex jacket & pants for the rain & a jumper you should be right, Buen Camino

@@JoeCarmona Gracias! Thanks for the advice, I will bring something light and something heavier and try not to bring too much! Which app did you used to follow the path? And did you book your room in advance or while you were there? I watched your video twice and cried for how beautiful those places are! I will be in Porto in a week and can’t wait to start!

@@chiarab5802 I didn´t use any apps for my seven Caminos signage is quite good but if you needed one for peace of mind there are quite a few apps the most comprehensive & free app is El Camino de Santiago by Erosqui Consumer unfortunately it´s in Spanish another one that is good is Buen Camino it´s in a vareity of languages & let´s you plan your trip there is a small cost. I found it easier to book my private accommodation in advance as I was comfortable in meeting all my targets but frankly at the time of the year you´re going there arent that many tourists & accommodation should be plentiful allowing you to have more flexibility on a day to day basis once again I wish you a Buen Camino (Bom Caminho)

I cycled from Lisbon to Santiago in September 2019. My Camino started in Porto like your trip. I was due to be cycling from Lisbon south in September 2020 but the trip was cancelled due to the UK Air Bridge closure. So I am now re-living my trip last year by watching other peoples journeys on UA-cam. Yours is the best video, it is bringing back floods of memories. Thankyou :)

Thanks I noticed that you walked the Camino Portuguese coastal route in 2015, it's another of the many routes that lead to Santiago de Compostela. Check out my Camino Lebaniego, best short Camino from San Vicente de la Barquera ( Cantabria)to Monasterio Santo Toribio de Liebana high on the Cantabrian hills near the Picos de Europa National Park it has the largest remnant of wood from the cross of Christ.

I did the Camino Portugues por la Costa in early September of 2019, weather was hot about 30 C on average & there were no rainy days apart from a brief thunderstorm in Caldas del Rey. Early autumn is a very stable period & there were fewer tourists then in the busy holiday month of August which was great for finding accommodation from Canberra Australia Buen Camino

I am planning on walking this camino next with my 10 yr old son and my sister. My sister and I walked the Camino Frances in 2018 and loved it. My son has been bugging me to take him on the next camino ever since :=). This beautiful video highlights why I want to take the coastal route. Dying to get my boots on the trail again :-) Buen Camino !

Thanks Brent, Camino Portuges is an ideal Camino for your young son as it is fairly flat has the wonderful Atlantic Ocean where you walk past countless beaches to cool down, facilities are good & distances not too great. It was a great first Camino for my wife who had seen me year after year heading back to Spain to complete another Camino, I am glad that the images portrait have given you inspiration & although I thought back when I completed it after 7 Caminos I would not do another one Covid 19 restrictions has heightened my passion & I await the day when those magical moments in the Camino could return, from Canberra Australia Buen Camino

Thanks the Camino is well marked I didn't carry any apps to help along the way as it was extremely easy to follow but I realise that is a personal thing. This was my seventh Camino but my wife's first so perhaps there is some similarities & she found it relatively easy as there was little elevation, great beaches with boardwalks & some large towns to provide vareity. I started my Camino similar time in September & it was particularly warm around 30 C's but the sea breeze made walking pleasurable. I wish you Buen Camino from Canberra Australia

@@JoeCarmona Yea our experience was WAY different. We arrived in Porto on October 13 and got our first stamp at the Catedral and walked in the rain to our first Alberge in Matosinhos. Water running down our legs filling our boots rain! We also arrived in Santiago on the 13th, in the rain. My wife disposed of her boots in Santiago because they never completely dried out. We were detoured twice due to flooding and also just walked one flooded section. We had only one day without rain and several other days with both sun and rain. Still, for our first Camino, we loved it. We met great folks, saw beautiful places and spent time just enjoying the journey.
