I am an avid bushwalker who is passionate about the Australian bush & I do single or multi day hikes. I am also a long distance walker who has done long multi day walks including fourteen Caminos in Spain, France & Portugal. The joy that it brings me I like to capture in video & tell a story of my journeys, I let the images speak for themselves & blended with music help weave the story. I won't waste time in front of the camera to talk about what is going on, I let the camera do the talking & will take you through every moment no matter how difficult the situation is I will always capture it & present it. My narrative I keep it as short & informative as possible & done off camera in voice over so that the images before my eyes are the driving force of the video. I do these hikes either solo or as a member of many hiking groups

The Roman Road looks like hard walking!
The Roman Road has been dug up in places & only close to the highest point of any Camino in Spain the Pass of Fuenfria 1796 mts it remains intact. Hard 30kms a fantastic stage with amazing views to the peaks of the Sierra de Guaderrama which I have climbed & when it culminates in a city like Segovia it's really hard to beat. Definitely ranks as one of the many memorable days of the fourteen Caminos I have done, Buen Camino
Visit the murramurang coastal walk at batemens bay
Yes it's on my to do list, only 2 days with a car shuffle
Namadgi National Park which occupies almost fifty percent of the Australian Capital Territory has a large number of granite tors that have been sculpted by nature & created some amazing granite sculptures. This is a but a few samples of what's on offer
You arrive at Saint Jean Pied the Port to begin your Camino Frances & you are faced with two choices the popular Napoleon Route or the Valcarlos Route used mainly in winter. I have done both in the last year & they each have it's merits & I explain why. I welcome your comments & tell me which one you prefer?
35 years ago I rafted from Capertee through the Wollomi gorge down to Colo with a mate. Took about a 9 days. Not a lot of paddling for the first few days due to low water levels. A truely beautiful part of the world.
Thanks that would have been a great trip, I came across two people rafting down the Colo & they had to haul their rafts over the many boulders & other obstacles. They said it was particularly slow & hard going, nothing is easy is you want lasting memories, happy hiking
Great to see you, JJ, and Edward again! Many familiar places and great memories. The drone footage is amazing! Looking forward to Part 3! Hope you are well, Joe
Hi Greg great to hear from you, I am working through the third part and of course that night in Trabadelo in Casa Susi. I recorded so much stuff that's impossible to include it all but I can send you some video files if you like where you are in it particularly "Camino Road" John Denvers Country Road.
Buena suerte.
@@JROMEROD Igualmente el Norte es precioso
Thanks Joe great video will hopefully try the Napoleon pass next time😊 As soon as I watched this, it brought back so many memories of my first day
Hi Rob, yes it brings back the memories of April's Camino so many wonderful memories bring on April 2025 for Lisbon to Santiago
Amazing what you can find when you leave the track, the popular Mt Tennent walking track that leads to Mt Tennent 1387mts and forms part of the Australian Alps Walking Track is the start of this walk but we don't follow it for very long as we go off track and climb to the ridge near the summit of Mt Tennent finding massive granite boulders waterfalls and cascades as well as enjoying the sensational views as we climb a granite slab that's two hundred metres with a 50 degree gradient
Great video. I’ve lived here in Spain for 20 years and have often wondered if I could walk the Camino. I’m 73 but have walked 10km every morning for years….so I’m reasonably fit for my age. Knowing your age has made me consider it once more! 👍🍷
Thanks glad you liked it, I returned to Spain this April & completed five consecutive Caminos I have uploaded some videos on my UA-cam channel & I plan to come back next year to do more. Age is but a number it doesn't define us, if we are healthy then there is nothing that can stop us. You are already motivated and walking 10 ks daily, the Camino is already done all you have to do is plan it. You will find that when the whole day is dedicated to walking much greater distances are easily accomplished, so 10kms becomes 20kms. It's not a race and the infrastructure is superb with lot's of accommodation, there are lots of apps with so much information to plan your Camino. If I can be of any help don't hesitate, the Camino is an experience like no other
@@JoeCarmona ….Many thanks. I appreciate your kind offer. You must be one of the most experienced Camino pilgrims! I presently wear Hoka speedgoat shoes but you mentioned in the video that yours were more hard wearing. What sort of Hokas were they please?
@@emlyngriffith5846 Thanks, I came accross Hokas for last years Caminos & I used Hoka Annacapa for 1000 kms & they were so good that I continually wore them when I got back to Australia. For my recent five Caminos in April & May I took two pairs a Hokas Speedgoat 5 & a Hoka Annacapa both brand new out of the box. The Hoka Annacapa I used it for the Camino Frances 800 kms & the Hoka Speedgoat for my other four Caminos totalling 700 kms they were both great but the Speedgoat had very little tread after 700 kms while the Annacapa could have done another 800 kms. There is nothing wrong with the Speedgoat it's a great shoe but it depends how long your Camino is. Buen Camino
@@JoeCarmona …Muchas graçias! 👍🍷
First video of my journey through Spain attempting five consecutive Caminos about 1500 kms, with a recently dislocated shoulder that caused me so much pain from SJPDP to Logrono. Second video of my journey through Spain attempting five consecutive Caminos about 1500 kms, with a recently dislocated shoulder that caused me so much pain in my initial video from SJPDP to Logrono. The improvement in my shoulder allowing me greater mobility to be able to regularly do long stretches above forty kms per day and the many, many people that gave me comfort and blessings on my shoulder when I needed it most. To all the people who I shared those moments with I dedicate this video and thank you for your support

@@JoeCarmona Back to work.....main season now......its amazing to see the videos, where i have been at same time...thanks for that! Meanwhile i am thinking of doing another camino.....what about you? Are you back in Australia...shoulder ok?
@@edwardfrisch6688 Hi Edward , there were great memories and the Camino always calls you back so yes I plan a long long Camino next year beginning in Gibraltar and following various Caminos from the southernmost point in Spain where you can see Africa to Santiago then continue up the coastline to the most northernmost point in Spain 2500 kms. Yes shoulder is much better not 100% yet so I do day walks still a couple of months before I can do multiple day off track crazy stuff that I used to do before, all the best and stay in touch. Did you get to do that 1/2 marathon with your wife in Vienna?
Fantastic video, once again joe
Thanks again Simon for leading, a great day in the Budawangs

Hi Joe, A pleasure to subscribe to your channel, watch your video and to also say that I met I met you along The Way of the Camino Ingles. I hope your shoulder has fully recovered by now and you've managed to fulfil your goal of all four caminos this year. Can't wait to watch the next episode - Judi from Melbourne 🙂 Buen Camino
Hi Judi, thanks for subscribing it was great to walk with you and Janelle on the Camino Inglés It was an excellent Camino. I have just completed my fifth consecutive Camino, when I left you I did the Camino Invierno then I had sufficient time to go down to Valenca de Minho in Portugal and do the Camino Portuguese Variante Espiritual and I completed it on Saturday. I am in Madrid with my family and get back to Australia later in the week then will start creating videos

Thanks glad you liked it
Hola, a qué hora iniciabas cada etapa y cuántas horas caminabas ? Saludos desde Honduras

Hi Joe, I just subscribed to your channel, it’s funny you said you have dislocated your shoulder, I’ve been having problems also with my left shoulder, but I’m still doing the Camino April 13th. Buen Camino
Yes I dislocated my shoulder and was left clinging to the cliff face with one hand until my companions tied a rope to my body and pulled me up the last twenty metres to the tops and regardless here we are and about to do Caminos in my case my shoulder isn't sufficiently strong to carry a full pack and I will have to send it on. Thanks for subscribing and I wish you a buen Camino and hope that the shoulder doesn't give you too much grief
Suppose to drink wine from your Camino scallop shell.
Thanks for the tip, I will do that in April when I do my four consecutive Caminos starting in SJPDP April 1, buen Camino
I am 75 years old Scot and have done ten Caminos. I begin my next one on May 1st, walking the Camino Fonseca from Salamanca. I have walked the Frances four times and consider it to be the best despite the crowds from Sarria. My first Frances was in 2007 and started in Poitiers. My most recent Frances was last year finishing on September 25th.I then caught the bus North to Ferrol and walked the Camino Ingles. Most pilgrims don't know why the Camino Frances is called the Frances. It's not because it starts in St. Jean Pied de Port as most people assume.
Thanks Harry, well done hope all the best for your upcoming Camino in May, it's a bit wet now in mainland Spain and by May you should be right. I am only a few days from my four Caminos from SJPDP on April 1
Hiking Heaven, estás caminando por GALICIA que es un hermoso y mágico país de España. Gracias.
Muchas gracias tienes razón Galicia tiene muchos lugares únicos, buen Camino
I recomend Hoka stinson
Love your videos. As an older hiker myself, they are always so inspirational. I'm also a southern ACT resident and George from Southside Physio has helped me with rehabilitation for a fractured rib, knee and other injuries, all hiking mishaps, and kept me on the trail. He's great. Wishing you success with your Caminos!
I had a shoulder dislocation climbing out of a gorge only seven weeks ago and I am still recovering as I fly out to Spain next week and begin my Camino from SJPDP on April1 and as we share the same age isn't great that we are still able to do this. I don't have a favourite Camino only the one that you are currently doing, they are all different in so many ways. I wish you a buen Camino for May
Hopefully your shoulder recovers quickly. I am very grateful for being a pilgrim at 70! This year in May my average mileage will be reduced from 15 to 12 miles per day. You captured the spirit of the Camino beautifully! Buen Camino!
In Irache winery, there is a scripture at the walls, which read”Be respectful” so I saw a hiker filing a filled half a litre bottle with wine. I ask if it’s is lack of respect or ignorance.
Thanks, there is a sign in Spanish "Normas de Uso" Rules of Use "beber sin abusar" drink without abuse, it doesn't specify an amount but what it does state that if you want to take the wine they would like you to purchase it from the winery. There is a total limit of 100 litres per day from the fountain so if you happen to stay in Estella 3 kms from Irache then you will have the best chance to sample pure wine. I had stayed in Cirauqui some 17kms away so when I arrived mid afternoon unfortunately it was more water than wine as one of the Spanish members of the group called out "clarete" watered down wine. There is also a web camera that is on 24/7 that allows you to see the pilgrims visiting the fountain. Buen Camino
Hey Joe We finished our Camino in May 2023. Loved reliving it through your videos. But your commentary style is familiar. I am wondering if you have narrated any naturalist videos for tv in Australia? I feel like I have heard you somewhere. I too am a 70 year old Aussie.
I like to join a hiking group as I always fear of getting lost . I like the well marked tracks . Being with an experienced hiking group , will make me feel confident. Thank you for this lovely video .
That's the best way join a hiking group. There's Bushwalking Clubs in all major cities to take the necessary next step, happy hiking
So many parallels, I will walk my 8th Camino starting in March 2024. I will be 71. I migrated to Australia in 1962 (living im Melbourne). My parents came from Bilbao and my grandparents from Galicia.
I was no in 1962 Brisbane Australia. I am so inspired to do the Camino. I live in Townsville Qld these days What is the cost to do the Camino
@@minimalist5555life Thanks I am glad that the Camino has inspired you to do it as well, as far as costs go I would have said between 40-50 euros when I did that video last August but after doing five consecutive Caminos from SJPDP from April 1 it is more like 50 euros daily that includes accommodation in albergues about 15-18 euros and food, it's much cheaper if you buy food from supermarkets and cook meals. Buen Camino
I enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing your journey. How did you decide between SdC to Finisterre to Muxia vs SdC to Muxia to Finisterre?
Thanks glad that you liked it. There were a couple of reasons for choosing to go from SDC to Finisterre then Muxia, first of all this was a reward for finishing my Camino Frances in 26 days as I only had 33 walking days available to me. In 2016 I did 3 Caminos, Norte, Primitivo and from SDC to Muxia ending in Finisterre, which I found a more natural way to end your Camino, therefore this time around I wanted to do it in reverse Finisterre then finish in Muxia and taking that route was able to at Cee take that side trip to visit the Waterfall at Ezaro well worth it, buen Camino and good luck with your UA-cam channel
@@JoeCarmona And to your channel as well. I will sub 😊 I'm planning my second Camino for Sept 2025.

the temperate rainforest of south east NSW hold many hidden gems below the flat escarpment of Barren Grounds Nature Reserve. There are numerous waterfalls and the lush vegetation is a photographer's dream
Great video, will help my planning immensely. Could I please have the name of the albergue with the pool in Boadilla del Camino? Thank you...
Wow, what a spectacular place. Would love to see those waterfalls. Hope you heal fast. It's a bummer when you have an injury. Have been recovering from a stingray injury and subsequent infection myself
Thanks the waterfalls are quite spectacular although you have to be prepared and carry the right equipment. Where I had my dislocated shoulder I was hanging on to cliff line with only one hand and only the quick action of my companions made a possible fatal incident into walking out through thick scrub to hospital. So injuries can occur like you mention with your stingray injury. Three weeks in a sling won't stop me from doing four consecutive Caminos in April and May, happy hiking and good luck with your UA-cam channel
