You have no idea how long I’ve waited for a lesson on Jeff’s version of the song.
Thanks Leon. It's such an amazing version man, I listen to it all the time. Cheers, Ben
I think a simple "thank you" won't be enough to describe my hapiness about discovering your tutorial. Jeff Buckley's cover is pure art. Keep going dude this is a really great job 🙏💯
Thanks Sam! I'm glad that you found it helpful and enjoyable. Yeah its one of the great covers in my opinion, as is his version of Just Like A Woman
No way! I've just looked up for a tutotial for this song and your 17 hrs old exclusive cover of it is out. Thank you so much!
Haha you're welcome bud! Thanks for watching, Ben
Man, this this amazing, thank you so much, ultimate guitar doesn’t have anything on you
Haha thanks buddy! Glad it helped, Ben
Thanks so much!!!
Thank you so much ! :) I’ve watched the whole video trying to capture as much as I can cause I don’t have a guitar rn, can’t wait to study it when I go back home! Thanks again 🙏🏽
Been waiting a couple years for someone to make this video. Ben, you're a godsend. Instant subscribe
Thanks Andy! Glad it helped, Cheers
Thanks dude, you're lesson is amazing! I wanted to play that song since so long, it's a dream becoming true ! Keep rocking !
You're welcome buddy! Thanks so much, it's such an amazing version of this song. Love Jeff Buckley man, guy was a genius. Cheers, Ben
Amazing work Ben, thank you very much!
No worries Stijn. Thanks for watching
Thanks so much for this man, beautiful landscape behind you as well
No worries Nicholas, glad it helped. Haha yeah man its amazing, can't complain. Cheers, Ben
Thank you so much for that video Ben, know you've made up my day !
Amazing! Thanks Maxime, and thanks for watching, Ben
Thanks for the fantastic lesson! I've been wanting to jam this version of the song with my flatmate, but also wanted to do it justice....really appreciate the attention to detail you have put into learning/teaching this!
You're most welcome! I hope that you've been able to get some good jammin' in with your flatmate now!!! No problem, it's such a great song and one of my favourite of his (even if it is a cover!!!!)
great job thankyou!
Thanks for sharing! I've been wanting to learn this ever since I stumbled upon this amazing tune. :)
No problem Zack, yeah it's such a fantastic song
great lesson! helped a lot for the intro, not to mention the beautiful mountains in the background 👍👍
Thanks buddy! Glad that it helped, and yes I'm very fortunate to have them in my back yard!
Great tutorial. Thank you!!
You're welcome Alexander! Thanks for watching
Good stuff. Love the chord progression. 😊👍
Thanks Simeon, he did such great cover versions
Another good Buckley tutorial thank you!
Thanks Andrew, glad you're enjoying them!
Dude thank you so much! You absolutely nailed the intro, it sounded exactly the same. Please keep doing more Jeff Buckley. If you could possibly do If you see her say hello and Just like a woman, which I’m pretty sure are both in Open E, and maybe I shall be released, that would be so freakin great.
Thanks Lenny. Appreciate it man. I love both those songs, if you would like a request I've started doing them through Patreon as I don't really have the time anymore. Thanks, Ben
Thanks man again, I very much appreciate this walkthrough, it seems somewhat difficult finding Buckley material online. Not very often is an explanatory thread online as detailed and precise as this one, most of them usually lack one or several nuances that Jeff played but your video doesn’t exclude a single one.
That's really kind man, thanks!
That was great! Thank you!
You're welcome Robert! Glad it helped, Ben
Awesome lesson
Thanks Matt! Glad it helped
ayy bro you're awesome tysm!!
No worries Alan! Glad it helped, Ben
thank you!!!
You're welcome Michael! Thanks for watching, Ben
Very well explained and demonstrated. Really enjoyed this lesson and would love to see some more Buckley on the channel. Perhaps Lilac Wine, Satisfied Mind or the other Dylan cover Just Like a Woman? Looking forward to what's coming next!
Thanks Jasper, glad you enjoyed it. The plan is to do some more soon after my exams. Thinking Lilac Wine could be a good one to do. Thanks, Ben
@@BenWrightGuitar what exams? There's an excellent Lilac Wine tutorial, but Satisfied Mind is sorely needed (at least by me). And hey! Why do we share our three favorite songs?
I'm working through my Ski Instructor exams. Haha, so that people can make tutorials on them 😉?
@@BenWrightGuitar Well I'm a professor but I can't help you with this exam (water-skiing, maybe). And my question is - why do we (you and I) have the identical same tastes for music? Lilac Wine, there's an excellent tutorial online; but do you know Pablo Tato? Classical, in E. Now THAT'S hard to play!
@@davidbeneteau5036 I don't know. But being a professor I'm sure you've got a better chance of working it out than I do haha! I don't know that song, will check it out
que bacan seria vivir ahi, en las monstañas!
Thanks Gustavo! Yeah, can't complain its an awesome place
Thank you I’m so glad someone has done this keep it up kangaroo would be good or anything off grace to be honest the ones that haven’t really been done yet
Thanks Liam. Don't know Kangaroo, will check it out, planning on doing some more off grace soon. Thanks for watching, Ben
No worries I’ve checked out you’re other videos and it’s some good stuff , it’s nice to see
Love Kanga Roo .. A lot .. Check out the (live from Chicago) version ... lots of great close-ups of Jeff's guitar action ... link ... m.ua-cam.com/video/cj6fsInkmVE/v-deo.html
Please do his version of “I shall be released”
Hey there! Wonderful tutorial, thank you very much! But cloud it be possible that the verse is missing some bars? the change between amin->d7->c|g seems to fast when singing along. Shouldtn the D7 be live 4 instead of 2 bars. But maybe i'm mistaken
Great tutorial! Just one thing, not pretending I could have worked all this out myself but I think there's one bit you're doing slightly wrong in the intro (just because it's my favourite bit).
The chord around 8:15 between the C/G and the A minor, the bass note should walk up I think, which is an excellent argument for using your thumb! This is what I think those three chords are but lmk if you think I'm wrong.

I want to share how with everyone I loved the tutorial and found this song hard to figure out - until I saw you! Can I make a suggestion? Use numbers for chords, so like F#-, 20121x (I can't do 2 yet but I'm trying!). Cheers!
Thanks David! Very kind. I'll keep that in mind. Remember you can avoid the bass string whilst you learn to add in the thumb. Cheers, Ben
Thank you! can you do a tutorial one for "I shall be released'(Buckley's version)?
Hi Artemis. Glad the video helped. If you'd like to request a lesson you can do so over on my Pateron page. Thanks, Ben
Hi Ben!
Will do!!thank you!!
Fantastic tutorial Ben, btw whats a good small body acoustic guitar similar to what you have in this video. Im been long time electric player and finally deciding to add an acoustic to the collection?
Thanks James. Sorry do you mean what's a good small body acoustic guitar?
@@BenWrightGuitar yeh my bad ahaha
11:40
Beurtifull thank you. I just think that for the transition at 0:57 it sounds better with a G# dim then Am instead of Gsus then Asus
Idk if i'm clear haha but it sounds more like a chromatic progression :)
G#dim is the same position than the F# with a D position but instead of playing it on the 2nd fret you play it on the 4th
Yeah man sounds like that would be nice! I'll check it out! Thanks for watching, Ben
With those fingers you can do anything!!! I can't play some of those chords, even thot I've tried a lot. I think I have to play with a baby guitar or something. Any recommendations?
Hi Victoria. Haha yeah it does help! How long have you been playing guitar for? You can get really nice 3/4 guitars, like the one Ed Sheeran plays. I don't really know of any specialist brands, but I always recommend buying guitars in shops or at least playing them first as some people have different preferences. For example Martin make really nice guitars, but I've never really enjoyed playing them, but one of my best mates loves his. So its all personal preference. Cheers, Ben
@@BenWrightGuitar thanks for your response. The problem is that I'm in Argentina and there's not the same variety of brands and models :/... But I'll take your recommendations into account to start searching. Keep on with your Jeff Buckley's tutorials that are of great use! Thanks, Cheers.
@@totoria96 Thanks! To be honest I would keep playing your full sized guitar if you haven't been playing too long. Your hands get stronger and you'll be able to stretch further. There's also exercises you can do to help with this
@@BenWrightGuitar I've been playing for 8 years now. Started when I was 14 but I've always played "Criolla" guitar that is a bit more big than the Acoustic. Now that a friend lended me an acoustic guitar in trying but I don't now if it will work out
Hi Ben! If you can and you will... Would you look for me on Instagram so we keep on chatting? It's Vicky.delcasal. Thanks!
what is this strumming technique called? it looks like you're using the back of your index finger
Hi Najla. Which part do you mean?
You think you could do the dylan version?
Hi Jose. If you'd like to request a lesson you can do so over at my Patreon page. Thanks for watching, Ben
6:35 Im having trouble muting the rest of the chords so only the “c’s and a’s” come out when strumming up and down, can you explain how you’re muting them? 🥹
