USED TO BUILD COMMERCIAL GRAINS BINS ALL OVER THE MIDWEST. NEVER REALLY CONSIDERED WHAT GROUND WORK HAD TO BE DONE PRIOR.. AS LONG AS THE CONCRETE SLAB WAS DRY WE WERE RAISING STEEL 😊.. GOOD ON YA MATE KEEP IT UP..
Good progress in the face of poor weather. It will be interesting to see the new grain bin go in over the next while. Thanks for making it so interesting.
Love the video of 3 machines going in circle. I instantly thougnt they were playing ring around the rosey... all fall down. Y'all definitely got the struggle bus in this episode.
Thanks for another great video Chet and everyone!!!!! It was interesting and informative and enjoyable for sure to watch!!!!! The bin project. Wow. What a project this has been. You had lots of equipment in that hole all at once. And then you all were fighting the moisture problem. Glad you got your drainage pipe put down and pulling the water off the bin floor, so to speak. Now that you have the gravel in there and it packed good, it looks pretty darn good. Lots of hard work there by all of you!!!!!! Nice work everyone!!!!!!!! Thanks for everything Chet and crew. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
The camera view looking down from the grain bin was amazing. Like you Chet I love to watch construction going on, especially heavy equipment. Yet another awesome video.
A lot of work done for sure….amazed at all the instructions given on this chat. I keep thinking y’all have been here and done this before and all is holding up just fine. I’m amazed there were no collisions, but everyone there has been operating equipment since childhood im sure.
You all going round and round in that hole bought back to mind a 'working' display that they had in the Science Museum in London when I was a child which had model tractors going round 'preparing the ground' on the farm, ploughing, tilling & rolling. :O
That was one awesome video Chet watching you Dougo and the guys is always pretty amazing no matter what challenges you're faced with the don't seem to phase you You have the most upbeat attitude get on with the project and get it done Their is no channel on you tube that could compare to Larson Farms simple the Best GOD BLESS YOU ALL Best wishes from Ireland 🇨🇮
Look into Geotextile fabric to put on the clay before you put the sand in. It gives structure to sand and it will not allow the sand to sink into the fine clay particles
What a team you are very. Very fortunate to have the crew and family both the same thing In your case god bless all mom too stay safe in the pit and the fields
Chet, if you were farming in sand like i did in central Wisconsin you would have to add employees and have millions in pivots and irrigation. We worked all day farming and then slept in the pickups so we could move water winches every 3 or 4 hours all night long. We use to farm almost 6k acres of cukes, for pickles and multiple kinds of peppers. Peppers started in green houses. Plus yellow dent corn, green beans, alfalfa and even clover, rye and oats sometimes. You strugle with the wet, but i think you still have it better.
Oh that brings back memories I use to build the wind towers bases but we had to back fill with clay those were the days I think I did like 600 bases by Worthington Minnesota and south into Iowa
For soft spots while still close to the bottom of the hole use geotextile fabric then 18" of gravel then repeat. If you still have a soft spot use a piece of the fabric much larger than the wet spot and some large rock, something like one man rip-rap mixed with Clay and smaller gravel over the fabric.
If you got water issues in your subgrade. Subcut and seal back off with either clay or a thick lift of gravel and no vibe. Static roll can be as effective, it just takes a bit longer.
Amazing video Chet keep on making those videos You don’t want to farm in a desert come to Castro country where it don’t rain much and run out of ground water when you farm here you will crawl back to Minnesota where it is muddy. 😂😂
Fyi the worst thing you can is vibrated over wet ground because you're pushing the water to the top which is going to cause it to pump stag roll it with no vibrator
Hey guys, retired road builder/operating engineer. If the building pad doesn't work out, starts spewing water it should be undercut, Geo tech fabric for stabilization, at least 2' of 1x3" CC or Limestone (best), then fines to lock it all together for building base. DO NOT use the vibratory on the sheep foot roller. Static roll only to get compaction/density at first. Gradually start using vibratory after you have about 1' of fines covering the 1x3". Don't go crazy with it though and you'll get your density/compaction. Switch to a smooth drum roller to finish roll if ones available. You can also hire a density guy if desired. They'll pound a cone, then work with yuh on site density testing. Good luck. Great channel guys!
On the east coast we have plenty of field stone for base. With the fines and water that you're dealing with I'd say some geo-textile or weed mat under the gravel would have helped a lot.
I learned from watching dirt perfect that your dirt is pumping, that’s what it’s called. Those spots mean that you have non clay dirt underneath your clay, recommend to dig down till it’s gone and fill it back in with clay! It won’t ever actually dry up
Loved the aerial shot with 5 pieces in the hole.
The aerial view, I thought I was watching Bob the Builder with my kids again. 😊😊😊
Exactly! 😊
The time-lapse footage with all the equipment was epic, well done team!!
Love it when you guys share the ups and the downs. The struggle-bus drives all week and in the weekends! :D
It's the Larson Merry-Go-Round !
The Larson merry-go-round in full swing 😂
DOUGO , YOU ARE A LEGEND !! 👍🇦🇺🇺🇸
When the going gets tough.the tough get going.🇨🇦😊
The interchange between Dougo and Chet @8:00 shows the trust between two people who have worked together for years… on the struggle bus…
Look the Shriners driving around in circles!!

Bloody brilliant video. 😊🤪
Equipment square dancing I have not seen that in years👍👍👍awesome job 👏
good progress - hope it holds up with the mix of wet and rock/fill - loved the special musical around 16:30 whoever did that editing :)
Good progress in the face of poor weather. It will be interesting to see the new grain bin go in over the next while. Thanks for making it so interesting.
lovin more of those external video segments ....that'll get ya to a million subs 🤙😎🤙
Lol, that was awesome footage. Made it look easy peasy. (minus the $4000 diesel/day you’re burning). 😂
Brody will be having a conniption fit looking at all the muddy equipment.
I thought you guys were going to have a demolition derby 😅. Good team work. 😊
Larson Farms has got it going on!!! The ABSOLUTE BEST AT ANYTHING THEY DO!!!❤❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅🦅🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Unbelievable project, I could not imagine the progress you guys have done so far.
Thanks Chet, awesome video! Enjoyed the aerial video!
Round and round they go and where and when they stop... NO BODY knows! Cool video guys! Thanks! 😊
Had to LOL at all the equipment you had in there. Looked like fun.😀
That was a good Timelapse
Love and update on the house builds...

It will pack without running viberator. Just use less of a lift. Once you get 2 or 3 feet above the water, you'll be fine.
CHET AN EXCELLENT VIDEO.👍🇦🇺🇺🇸👍
Your humble humility is growth’s way of showing you!
Nice job and efforts! This will only make you and your crew better going forward!👍
Round and round we go
Nice merry go round y’all have.
A lot of work done for sure….amazed at all the instructions given on this chat. I keep thinking y’all have been here and done this before and all is holding up just fine. I’m amazed there were no collisions, but everyone there has been operating equipment since childhood im sure.
Ring around the grain bins ring around the grain bins gravel gravel all packed down😂😂❤
It is amazing to watch you all work as a team to get to your end goal.
Chet, watch what you wish for. You may just get it.
As a guy who’s farmed in a near desert don’t
Looking very good nice job

Always enjoy watching your videos, Chet. Thanks for sharing. Be Safe. Stay well. Victor
Always enjoy your videos very much from Wisconsin
16:30 - BEST. TIMELAPSE. EVER.
That was fun to watch! Thanks!
Looks like Brody is going to have his hands full
great video
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
Always informational Chet and Dougo!! Keep it up!

Excellent work gents!
LOOKS LIKE FUN SEE YOU NEXT TIME

As big a project as this is, Dougo I’m not surprised you haven’t stroked out yet, the end result will be worth it
Looking good Larson Farms . Another great video sir's .
Very cool project I enjoy this very much thanks.
Nice progress!

Great montage at the end.👌
Your state is like mine. It is a water recharge area. Can't do much, but put a bandaid on the land. I enjoy the videos and knowledge that I take away
Great video guys. thank you so much
nice ride along
Cool video teamwork is awesome ! Yal stay safe
Great job! Thanks for sharing
Nice job guys.
Lots of work!
Good stuff guys it was fun to watch😅😅😅😅😅
Your video was very satisfying as what you are doing is better to see than what is happening in the country. Good job.
Hey fellas when you compacting granulars some times the vibration pulls water out from bellow and brings it to the surface
It's going to, just think about what is actually happening. :)
Awesome video Chet. It looked like a circle circus 😅. All that equipment going round and round. It really was pretty cool. Good job guys!👍❤️
Hi 👋
I’ve enjoyed the change in content.
Also when it is that wet you only need to roll it. Because the moisture content is high therefore when you roll it it will compact

You strugle with the wet, but i think you still have it better.
If you cleaned out Menards, check other local sources for PVC pipe. Home Depot, and the other wholesale houses. 12:22

Lots of work, but I bet the foundations won't fall apart like Cole's
That reminded me of the new traffic circle (aka roundabout) near me when it first opened, chaotic.
You've got it going your way now, bit Typar is your friend for a hole like that.
Fyi the worst thing you can is vibrated over wet ground because you're pushing the water to the top which is going to cause it to pump stag roll it with no vibrator
Y'all are doing a pretty good job for farmers, oh wait, I farm to. We'll I also am an expert heavy equipment operator who specialize in earthen dams.
I'd like to be there, I really like doing that kind of work.
Looked like the crazy eights at the local race track. 😂
That looked so cool. 😂
Should line it with geotech fabric
Milwaukee makes a good transfer pump.

3 or 4” trash pump would work wonders.
You need to use non cohesive soil no clay or put limestonec 2s down on bottom 2ft and put pump down and dewatering then put your fill down
Like a well oiled carnival
Yeah that fitting has a crazy cost to it ! Watching you guys go round and round with the loaders coming and going looked like a Roundabout on a road.
It looks like a giant roundabout.
Gonna need another Brody😂
I wonder what Chris would have thought of the mayhem

Like a big traffic circle
Given you knew the water table was high, this project needed a good dewatering system using wellpoints.
