Thanks so much for going to the trouble to showing, UP CLOSE, exactly how a trap is set up. I have heard about "Straight-Sticks" and. "Toggle-Sticks" and "Y-Sticks", but after that...nothing is shown up close! I have requested, in several different vids, to slide a piece of paper in under the trap, so the configuration would stand out. So far, I havent seen that done yet. By you pulling the leaves back, and explaining exactly, UP CLOSE, what you were doing and exactly how the trap worked, it finally makes since to me! Thank you, SO MUCH!!!
Knot tip: if you start the bowline around the line before you tie it, you wont have to feed it back thru. By the way, this is the best explained trap video ive watched, to date. I have watched it many times and have shared it to countless individuals. Thank you
I was just teaching at the Harvest Gathering in Ontario Canada this past weekend. Its sad how many people do not know knots. My request to you is that you show the knot processes of the ones you are using.
Keep in mind, the less of your scent, the better chance of animals nearing your traps, so if and when possible, use other sticks to brush away your area. Great video. Helpful information. Straight to the point, no sales pitch... You deserve more views.
Not exactly true according to Recent studies. Some of the top trappers in the country don't wear gloves or worry about human odors at their sets. I even seen one piss all over a set made for coyotes and have one in the trap the next day. And then go on to catch 180 coyotes in 9 days and 300+ in just 3 weeks. When an animal smells your scent in an area all that tells him is that you were there at some point not that you are still there.
Nativesurvival What are the exact specs of the cordage you used in the video? I'd like to buy some, also, can you do a small tutorial video on how to make snares? I'd watch other youtube videos but i prefer your videos waaay more :D
Using a green pole, in freezing weather, will result in the pole not springing upward with the force you are hoping to have. A dead weight drop will work better.
I know I got to get going making snares for end times . I try to make time but not really interested in snaring yet but a very helpful video thanks to u sir for ur trouble ..
Instead of the twig on the post couldn't you carve a downward slant on the inside of your post where the bait stick meets the post and lean the post towards the bait stick so the further up on the post the tighter the bait stick would be but as soon as an animal pushed down at all it would come loose. You wouldn't need a point on your bait stick. Good video, Thank you.
Can you recommend a setup for catching a feral dog of about 55 pounds in weight. We can not use a automatic cage nor can we approach the dog in any way... regards, Sander Tel.
Hi there, would it be possible to make a video how to prepare the baitstick? I´ve seen so much videos ´bout snaretraps but noone shows how to attach the bait on the baitstick properly. Thanks in advance.
About what size animal can you trap with a snare like this? Could you get a raccoon? Do animals ever chew the cord to escape? And last but not least is this meant to hang the animal like a noose or just trap it?
hello. i have been keeping up on your videos and they are great. id like to thank you for sharing all of this with everyone.. now i have a few questions for you.. the first being.. do you think that it is possible to live in the bush using the skills that you teach? i mean if you were to take all of the materials you think you would need and with the knowledge you have, plus field guides.. do you think you could be self sufficient? and how long do you think you could do that for if not?
that makes perfect sense.. for me, i live in canada so i think that BC would probably be best for me.. fairly warm winters compared to sask where i live :P that is great to hear because nobody around here is interested in this kind of stuff and everyone tells me it is impossible without a rifle or some type of gun.. but i don't want to believe them.. thank you very much
+brayden edenloff the native Inuit lived all across Canada/Alsaka for hundreds if not thousands of years before guns or even metal knives. That's why it's called NATIVE survival 🙂
but if the animal isnt touching the snare for example i the middle while eating it, it wouldnt be caught because the snare is already on top of it so wouldnt it be easier to put the noose bit under the bait stick? or have a net under the bait stick???
? the bait stick is only a few inches off the ground, only a chipmunk would be able to do that and their best trapped by deadfall not snare, this is for larger animals like rabbit, marmot, fox etc
slip knots typically have more resistance to constricting the loop since they can tighten on the running end. the bowline is a locked loop which in no way restrains the function of the snare.

Look up coyotes academy or clint locklear of wolfer nation.
the toggle is the key part..of just about any trap. the trigger can be very inventive in a lot of ways..great twitch snare mitch.

agreed

Wish it included the trap in action. Because I’m wondering if the cord would be eat n away by the prey.
Fantastic tutorial! Thanks for sharing!
thanks
How long can you leave a trap with that spring mechanism set before it adapts to the bend,
7 days
Thank you
Liked and shared.
Quite scary to think this will go off while being setup, and that base stick gets stuck in your eye, making an skewered eyeball...

Nice one from Harry sankar
hmm... just wondering, but what would you do if you broke a finger that had a ring on it in the wild? :S cuz wouldn't it swell and lose circulation

is that bank line? what size is appropriate for small game? i dont want it so small that it digs in and causes unnecessary injury to the animal.
Cool video, hope to see more
It works well I put it in my yard and coat a squirrel thanks for the knowledge
Is that bank line or Mariners rope you used in the video? If so, what size?

of course, it all depends on the area's ability to sustain a person though, if its barren of meat then your in trouble.

really nice video good job bro!!!! subscribed!!
So why not tie directly to the bait stick ? Putting to much into it .
Did you try snaring anything while on the show?
what i am curious about is why these guys strip the branches when the make their spring??? I would think that makes your traps easier to spot???
It cuts down on drag with the air to enable them to spring faster. I leave a few leaves at the top and at the base so the tree lives.
but if the animal isnt touching the snare for example i the middle while eating it, it wouldnt be caught because the snare is already on top of it so wouldnt it be easier to put the noose bit under the bait stick? or have a net under the bait stick???

ahhh ok thanks.
btw great video it really helped
thanks
Like your videos, very informative and well presented. I hope you can upgrade your camera for better quality and clarity.

HOLA,,,AMIGO,ME GUSTA ,,LA TRAMPA,,SALUDOS,,ALVARO,,ESPAÑA.

What kind of knife are you using
Stay safe out there bro! Respect!
thanks
why not call "two half hitches" a full hitch? just wondering.
what tipe of knife do u use
Witch kind of trap is more useful?
Tracy c,
"Witch"
*Which
"Witch is which ? "
Great video!!:) Very useful. You just got yourself a new subscriber (me)!:)
cool thanks
I hope your next video easy way trapped video
Are you the guy from Alone in the wild ? 👍👍👍
+Emil Oxfeldt Yes.
Nice!
Cool
it wouldn't take much to modify this trap for catching fish as well.
Can't you just use a slip knot for the snare?
slip knots typically have more resistance to constricting the loop since they can tighten on the running end. the bowline is a locked loop which in no way restrains the function of the snare.
thumbs up but i'd rather pack a few 1 3/4 victors!
0:40 had the reflex to swing my hand near my left ears lol (i have my head set)
Enneite Samud how many left ears do you have?
@@monsta2k1 90 he has 90 left ears
ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 함정만 만들고 잡히는거 안나오네
Creative.....now think of ways to upgrade this trap
Why , the simpler the less to go wrong . -- By looking at your name , you should know that .
is this a joke?
I doubt you have ever caught anything with this trap.
Negative comments usually come from
Negative people. . . .
It is fake totally time wasted idea because I try it jungle rooster very sharp no trap and not work this idea
Its not a fake trap ha, works great.
I'd like to actually see a trap in action. You always see these trap vids, but never one at work.
It was set off at the 10:14 mark. Catching animals like this is illegal by the new american laws.
