Wow. Such a great video. So relevant in today's climate. I do weddings out here in California, and I'm a solo act. I do think a lot about single point of failure. That usually involved equipment and power and natural disasters... but last year right before covid, I suffered a knee injury that took me out for 6 weeks (playing indoor soccer). I was very fortunate that coveted hit shortly after that and all my gigs essentially canceled and I had plenty of time to recover. But it made me really start questioning my own health and what could come up unexpectedly that could prevent me from fulfilling what I promised. I have thought about this in the past and I do bring up this vulnerability to clients during our first meet and greet sessions. Yes, I have a large network of local DJs to tap into, but you never know If anyone will really be available on the date that you need.
You bring up a great point about having a conversation with your local DJ network to look out for each other, because they must be wondering the same thing. After watching your video, I'm inspired and I will start reaching out. I think having an arrangement in place with all your homies is really needed in today's climate.
It's definitely good to have a good network of friends in the industry. Besides having a backup plan in an emergency. It's great for referrals. My buddies send me referrals if they are booked and I do the same back.
Hey man sorry to hear you got hurt fam... great video thought very important. So listen we need you return of sell that eon one, and purchase the new JBL PRX One system. Then we need you to compare it to all the column arrays you've used. It is boasting some pretty amazing specs and would be a much better buy for your small rentals!
@@TheAngrySoundTech JBL is talking that big dog talk about this unit, and based off the 2 meter measuring vs everyone else 1 meter measuring and the claim of a continuous 130 db... I would love to hear what someone with a much more seasoned ear than my own has to say about it. Plus like I said if it is as good as they say, it will be a better rental the the eon one for your business. Plus your run Yamaha gear so you know good sound.
One word. Tramadol. I have been right there. I am missing three discs in my back, and I have intermittent debilitating pain. I now have tramadol on hand for when the pain kicks in, and the immobility starts. I often start a gig in pretty good shape, but by the end of it meeting one or two pills.
