- The Altima is getting some upgrades from Nissan for 2023. On the outside of the SR Turbo you will discover one of two new colors, unique 19in wheels, aggressive new front fascia and grill. On the inside you will be greeted by zero gravity seats, a new 12.3in infotainments system and standard size sunroof. Under the hood is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 mated to a CVT. Sorry everyone about the mixup with the title! Don’t ask me how that happened! Thanks for understanding and for your support!
lol all good
Wheel design is hot!
All is giod Joe. Can't wait for the Live Q and A this month!
@@GexMung Thanks for understanding!
So when is the new sentra gonna come out Joe
For $37 thousand this Altima needs fog lights instead of those fake air vents, a 9 speed automatic transmission and a panoramic sunroof 👨🏻‼️
For that price it should also have homelink and rear view mirror dimmer.. It still has the cheap Base rear view mirror.
They added some things from the SL and left some things out. Odd...
3 more thousand? Build your own Z.
@@charlesjackson1700 That's funny, a 2023 Nissan Altima SR Turbo without Fog Lights and Rear View Mirror Dimmer, 2.0 liter engine but my 05 TSX has no turbo but comes factory with RVMD, Fog lights and a 2.4 liter engine, something is wrong 🤣
@@keep_it_low_bro Nissan focuses on putting less into everything.. I read that the next generation Altima would come with a standard three cylinder turbo engine like that of the new 2022 Nissan Rogue.. 3 cylinder 😟
If Nissan dropped their new 9spd corporate transmission into this Altima, this would seriously be competitive in this class. AWD with the VC engine would be a bonus as well.
That would b crazy
Nissan take notes please
They won't, it'll take more sales from the Q50 which is struggling as it is
$37,000 is $10k more than I'm willing to pay for this
Agreed, 27k is the price id maybe consider it.
Every time I've looked at Nissans I'm always shocked by the balls they have to charge what they do for what you get. This time is no different.
37K is pretty cheap for a sedan
especially with the problematic cvt def. sell b4 warranty ends if u choose to buy !
@@djmikesea every make has issues these days, kinda a luck of the draw scenario ... I had 2022 and now a 2023 altima, both w/o problems ( I use em for my daily drivers )

We know you meant the Altima but hey it looks awesome, the refresh and updates are great. I love the wheels, the SR should come standard with fog lamps, tail lamps should be LED or OLED, should have a 6 speed automatic transmission instead of the CVT. The design is beautiful and the color is sparkling!
The Chinese market Altima comes with full LED front and rear. Sucks for US
@@chiemekaa and a panoramic sunroof as well.
I'm not a Nissan guy, but some of their designs have been excellent the past 10-15 years.
They did some great contemporary design work.
I feel lost its identity since being owned by Renault
It’s been the same design the past 4 years
I clicked for sentra 😭
+1
same, even checked Nissan's website, got excited for a min 😞
🤭
Same. If they gave the Sentra a turbo, that might be a game-changer lol
+2
Thanks again team...great video. I've owned three Nissan's and those all seemed to be ahead of the curve when it came to technology and being ahead of the curve against the competition. Nowadays, it seems like the value (and excitement) just isn't there when compared to other vehicles in the class (even the all new Z car was a letdown in my opinion) Non-LED lighting, plain analog gauges, basic sunroof, large gaps in the panels, 1990's keyfob (that is the same keyfob I had in my 2008 CX-7) and noisy CVT just don't justify the cost. Also, as you pointed out, the exterior seems like a style mess with too many lines, shapes and colors that are not cohesive.
37k for this car? Hell to the No NO. 😂
Man that turn signal sound is literally from spongebob when his snail clicks his eyes together and they make the music to get the jellyfish out of his house.
😂😂😂😂FACTS
lmao great comparison 😂
I had a 2016 altima SR V-6 . Great car, extremely comfortable and performance was amazing. Wish they would bring those back…..maybe add a turbo too! 🎉 4 cylinder engines, turbo or not 👎🏻
37k for a CVT and less power then most the comp yeah I'm good.
That CVT transmission was very coarse and disconnected.
Design:
1) Kia K5 GT
2) Nissan Altima Turbo
3) Hyundai Sonata N
Performance:
1) the kia
2) the sonata N
3) many other cars
4) the turbo altima - CVT w/ FWD kills the deal here
Agreed
Got my hopes up, I really thought Nissan gave the Sentra a turbo 😭😭
I was excited as well!
@@lokerola imagine being excited about a Sentra
who knows with the cafe standards and epa breathing on their neck they might add one
Nissan put a turbo in the Sentra already.
How figure ?
The Sentra has become the Ulitmate Base , Cheap A to B veichle
Nissan makes good honest vehicles and the zero gravity seats are no joke, I have them in my 2021 Titan pro 4x.
Joe I'm impressed by how much enthusiasm you can muster for these garbage cvt vehicles with no horsepower
Nissan needs to give this the Mercedes 9speed auto, Full LEDs & Panoramic roof like the Chinese market and it’d be the Midsize car to have!
Great video as always! Even without a turbo, I still prefer the looks of my white pearl 2018 Altima SR Midnight Edition. Looks sportier and still gets some looks with it. Maybe these new models will look better with a Midnight Edition but this reg SR just doesn’t look the least bit sporty. $37k for a non top line Altima with no panoramic sunroof, Bose system, or full LED lights? Hah! No thank you!
It does come with bose and 12 inch touch screen
These Altimas look way better than the 2018 model. I had a 5th gen midnight edition, and this one looks way better. The color of the gray sky pearl is beautiful too. Looks white from some angles and gray from another.
Listen I do like the styling on the 5th gen but the 6th gen facelift is just that much better I don’t see how anyone could prefer the styling on the old one to the new one, it’s simpler yet more aggressive, it absolutely looks atleast equally as sporty of an sr trim as the later 5th gens and I’d say its got sportier styling, it’s almost not even objective. Pre face lift 6th gen sr yes are mediocre for sporty styling but the 23 model looks damn good.
@@BillyKivalu7Nah the back part on the ones now are pretty outdated.
2 yrs ago, you can get a Maxima with more hp and far better looks and luxury for about the same price
I swear a 9 speed automatic would make altimas the best selling mid sized sedans with the beautiful design and the screen
The Altima and the Maxima could bring more sales to Nissan, but they refuse to listen to the consumer (it's my opinion). The CVT transmission makes me want to buy a Camry, KIA or Sonata.
lowkey i would enjoy it more if the sentra had a turbo
When you said $37,000 I actually said out loud, “that’s hilarious” and then typed this comment.
Trust me I totally understand how you feel!
Your Pop Culture references are taking me back, man... Pepsi Clear, Slinky... You're gonna have me watching videos about these things all night!
Ecoboost has spoiled me. I dont like to see more than 1500rpm while doing 60 to 65mph. That car is already over 2000rpm and not going 70. New cars should give you seamless torque without a cvt.
For the price, Elantra N will be the go to 💯
The Elantra N is smaller but yeah I agree!
@@RaitisRides yeah for sure 💯 great video as always Joe 👌
Joe this isn't a sentry bro is a altima 😞
You are right! Sorry I screwed up the title!
@Raiti's Rides it's OK Joe I got excited about it lmao I was like hell ya the new sentra lol
I hope Nissan would replace the CVT with 6 speed manual or 9 speed automatic transmission
Offers way less than the K5/Sonata N-Line for more money. Hard pass! No DCT, No Panoramic Sunroof, No Premium Audio, No Full Digital Tachometer, Bland Exterior Styling, Smaller Motor With Less Power, Etc...Not sure why anyone would choose this over the other 2 when they offer more value for less money.
Because they won’t buy a car with an engine that’s known to catch on fire 🤷🏽♂️
Those engines catch on fire in the Kia and Sonata that is why
@@bradcast2967 just a transmission that won’t pass 70k 😂
@@Brian-rf8hr that would be funny if Nissan cvt were worse then the other new cvts and they aren’t anymore this isn’t 2009
Bland styling? I’d say the sonata is borderline overstyled and it’s the least offensive looking new Hyundai on the market and the k5, man there’s nothing you can say to convince me it looks better then the Altima. Altima is simple yet aggressive enough for a new car and isn’t radically overstyled like Toyota and Hyundai/Kia with traditionally styling cues. The Altima especially in the sr trim is an attractive car looks wise for what it is there’s no denying that
It is a nice looking car but I pick the Kia based on horse power and transmission 👍🏻👍🏻
$37,000 is a very steep price to pay for a car that's about half the car of a K5 GT or Sonata N-Line. I paid less than that for my Elantra N. Nissan is just getting further and further behind the times!!
My 2017 Altima is just about payed off I really don’t want more years of car payments but I might have to get this 😅
2022/23 Camry TRD takes the cake and it never gets mentioned. Looks crazy and 300hp🤔
Its over styled but I like it. Sure it has the most power but doesn't perform well. The rest of the competition are better
@Matt Mekhaeil oh thats true I'm just saying purely based on looks and stats sheet I've never test driven one 😂
Sentra turbo????? But just saying, that color looks just as amazing if not waay better in real life
I like the Altima
I had a feeling that you would Anthony!
The lack of anything led in the rear is sad at this point
This is not a Sentra.😳
Sorry about the mixup.
Personally think the Altima drives a lot smoother, the turning reminds me of the grand marquis i had when i was younger and i loved how it handled itself.
Thanks for sharing your feelings on this one.
I will say that Nissan is better than Hyundai and Kia only because they have a lawsuit and are paying billions of dollars to fix and replace engines while Nissan is making good engines and now I understand some people are biased about the CVT transmissions but you have to maintain them and change the fluid of the CVT and not have it flushed so it doesn’t break. And Nissan is doing better replacing the pathfinder and frontier to the 9 speed automatic so time will only tell when the rest of the line up with Nissan will get the 9 speed. This altima is very nice i will say. But if I had $37,000 I probably would get this car knowing that some Nissan dealers do offer a lifetime warranty of the engine and transmission of course. And Nissan is different and unique from the competiton but I will say Kia and Hyundai is no good.
Nissan coming in with the Loudest turn signal ever 😂. But Nissan has to stop with the fake vents 💀
I totally agree with you!
I have a v6 altima looking to get something new. The cvt doesn't bother me at all with almost 300 hp. Going to have to test drive the 2.0. I'm looking at camry, accord and altima. This 2023 altima is my favorite look they finally fixed the grill
This might be perfect for you them.
I’m just a huge fan of those tires they’re gorgeous
The wheels work on this particular one.
Cant wait to see this cars tailgating me for no reason. 😂🤣
haha so true.....high IQ drivers..lmao
New look looks great I have the opportunity to swap the vc turbo in mine but for now rocking the 2.5 just wish they went with the new 9speed transmission instead of the cvt. Love my 2020 SR

Sentra? That's an Altima
You are correct!
Hello, I believe the title of this video says Nissan Sentra Turbo, but the car is a “Nissan Altima VC-Turbo”…just saying 😃, lol!
You are correct. I made a mistake.
All good 👍!
Good looking Car Joe but it needs a Fog Lights and a 9 Speed Automatic! And a panoramic sunroof! And lastly LED everything
Good suggestions for sure!
CVTs get a bad rap. Yes they drone and yes you don’t get the traditional gear change sound and feel but the tech and what it does for performance/ fuel mileage gets overlooked. F1 engineers and builders would go nuts if they could use CVT in fact Williams F1 tested one in there car in the early 90s😊
In my opinion, the daytime running light needs to stretch the full length of the headlight like the Sentra. The wheels look plastic in person because of the finish. The gap between the headlight and engine cover is slightly less abrasive but still noticeable and a concern in stormy weather. The fake front vents look terrible from the side because it follows no body lines and needs fog lights. It would be cool to see a black line followed from - front (real) intake to the grill. The lack of a blacked out front chrome V-Motion grill kind of leans away from their design language in comparison to the previous model. I like the interior screen though!
I wish you'd stop hating on the cvt. Nothing wrong with. Just traded in my wife's 20 Altima for a 23 Altima. I own a 22 Maxima. Love the cvt in both. Especially the Maxima.
Thanks for your ownership feedback!
i used to feel like this when i drove a nissan CVT until I experienced owning a 10 speed DCT, and I would NEVER go back to a CVT in my right mind
There is no hate for the cvt. They are simply not good and trying to get "performance" out of them adding a turbo defeats the purpose all together. Not to mention the simulated gear shifts? They are boring.
I've never been terribly impressed with the Altima sedan back when it was introduced and I have to say that this has done little to improve my opinion. If it's still available then I'd pick the Maxima.
Unfortunately 2023 is the last year for the Maxima
If you want the Maxima instead, and have some money.... Build your own Z.
the website says its 248hp and 273 torque
I got a 2017 Altima and I’m ready for a trade between Honda accord or Camry but JOE I like this one!!!!
Sounds like a plan!
Those are the same matts from their 2021 models. They don’t have the new SR logo
Altima is a nice car. But the K5 all trim levels is a head turner.
Hey Joe! I think the title is wrong here.
You may be right! Thanks for the heads up.
Oh yay turbo. Altima drivers already overconfident acting like they drive muscle cars 😂
Aww man. Can't wait to see my ex drive this like a gt-r 😂
It looks pretty good, especially the interior but I feel the K5 offers more for its price.
Plus (despite the current recall) the DCT on the K5 just FEELS so much better than any CVT could hope to get.

I can understand where you are coming from David!
What u bought ???
Yes, I think it should have the Fog lights for sure. They should also get rid of the fake vents as well, Other then the Altima is very nice
Get rid of the CVT transmission and replace it with nine speed automatic
I like the fake vent on the back it looks nice
the issue is the price nobody gonna pay $37k, the altima shouldn’t be over 30k it never was .
I own a 2017 Nissan Altima 2.5 and am not impress about this car model anymore, my transmission went around 65k miles and from there it was downhill, problems after problems with this CVT transmission that was poorly made by Nissan…
The front looks very similar to the older Kia Optima. In my opinion, Nissan is always cutting corners. Especially compared to the competition.
I think we ought to sponsor a bill in congress that forbids CVT transmissions in all cars. Crikey, if Mazda can still offer a 6 speed auto in their cars, why can't everyone else. The auto is the primary reason I'd give the Mazda a nod over pretty much any other brand right now.
Only thing I would do is add all wheel drive, with the 2.0 engine

This one is NICE! Way better looking than the new Accord, in my opinion. Can't wait to see what the new Honda Accord sport looks like, though.
Fingers crossed it looks the part!
I’m disappointed with a 2.0L, would’ve be nice to be a 2.5L engine like the SER versions in the early years 2000, would’ve separate them from the whole world who are running a 2.0L turbo…
Would've been a better rival to the K5 GT, if it was actually an Altima Nismo. I feel that Nissan dropped the ball with this a bit.
Now we are talking!
From end looks like the 2010 Maxima
I can see it!
Great review and you asked why would someone go with the 2.5 without the Turbo. We bought our 17 year old daughter a 2023 Altima SR without the turbo because it is fast enough for her. Actually her’s is pretty darn quit for what it is and we have to watch her lead foot. So that is why.
A good looking car, Nissan almost got it right huge Nissan fan love the Altima really changes on 2023 makes think of going back to a sedan. I am little disappointed that doesn't have LED taillights and deleted fog lights the SR Turbo should have available (9 speed autimatic) it's a beautiful car as much loving the 2023 Altima the K5 might be better for the price still this car is going to be a huge seller seen several of them on highway besides think Nissan is getting better ... BTW. Overall very pleased with the Altima just disappointed that Nissan kept the same taillight housing from 2019-22 also with this trim level SR Turbo should had 9 speed automatic interior/exterior is nice.
