    I totally appreciate that you kept this informative/ impartial 👍👍 I found this super informative! I’d love to see the cair panel video, my 4yo was broken in a wintec cair and when we tried a flocked saddle he hated it so ended up getting him a Bates with cair, I’d love to see a video of it being dissected!

      Yes, some horses really like the CAIR. Others prefer flocking. It's the same with riders too, I guess, we all like different things :) The CAIR video will be uploaded soon.

    Just purchased a Wintec 2000 saddle and it appears to be in really good shape. No broken bits that you mention in the video. How do I best fit and understand the width issue on a quarterhorse’s back? Can you tell me a little more regarding proper width on their back? Thanks!

    The older bates don’t fit my big OTTB but the newer ones do and the collegiate changeable gullets fit him to he will be getting a custom saddle when he’s done with his training.

    Hi thanks I found your video really informative, I bought a second hand wintec for other people to occasionally ride my horse in as I ride in a tcs! But no one likes that, but it had the broken plastic bits at the very back that you called supportive bits, my question is for now will it be ok is this a really important integral part of the saddle or not really? Thanks

    I have one of the original Wintec saddles. I never really liked it, it has very distinct points in the back panels. I mostly used it for beach rides(not in the last twenty five years though). Since I was in fear of the harsh point pushing my horse’s spine muscles down, I used a professional’s choice shock pad for those rides. I still have it, as I keep all my old saddles. Why throw them out when you can use them as examples.
    Thank you, I love your videos.

      Yes, sometimes the older ones can be quite hard and a decent pad can help :)

      @@ADayInTheLifeOfASaddleFitter it isn’t hard so much as has a weird surface. Next time I get out my saddles, I will send you a pic. It must be 30 something years old now. Somewhere, I still have the receipt, as well as a note from my cousin, whom was sponsered by Wintec all those years ago. It was a gift from my parents, when I was quite young. My biggest complaint then was that it was slippery as hell unless you wore full seat breeches.

    Hello from Columbus, Ohio USA! Thank you for this amazing video, I have learned so much! I have an older Wintec 2000 with CAIR panels. The point on the right side it broken. Can this be repaired or replaced? Would Wintec fix it for a fee or sell me the part to have my saddler here do the repair/replacement?

    Hi, thanks for your informative videos, just bought a 2nd hand Wintec Isabel Worth Dressage Pro saddle - it is flocked, with no easy change gullet. I bought it knowing the front strap of the Y girthing strap was pulled off/detached from the tree. I wanted to have a go at putting it back on, but this saddle does not have the Velcro opening at the head of the saddle, so a bit harder to get into.. and from what I can see through the tiny slot where the girth point came out of, there is - what appears to be the fixed gullet.. ? with a threaded bolt, through to the point? and the strap looks like it would have been sandwiched between these two fixtures.. however, the strap has come away.. and the threaded bolt appears to be lose? rattly ? any words of advice on how to access inside these older saddles? and if a repair is possible to re affix the front girth point is greatly appreciated.. cheers, from down under in OZ. :) Shani

    I love these videos so much! Do you happen to have an opinion on the Wintec Pro Endurance saddle (With the block behind the leg as well as the front)? I'm para and I'm very much considering trying one as a dressage saddle

    • @ADayInTheLifeOfASaddleFitter
      @ADayInTheLifeOfASaddleFitter  3 роки тому +1

      Hey, some riders really love them. You definitely need to try one, as the blocks have to fit your legs well, but they definitely support them, if they fit! And, as with all saddles, even the adjustable ones, they have to fit your horse too!

    The little pieces that snap at the back of the flap... Is it safe to use if they get broken?

    Hello, great videos, thanks heaps, one thing I'm finding is saddle fitters are not addressing the shape of the trees in saddles or talk about the rails... any chance you could do a video on this topic, ie, a straight tree, semi curve, curved etc, different types of trees, what they are made of, how much each flex (or don't flex), what type of horse shapes fit which type of tree. Another in depth chat could be about girth points, how they are attached (with what material), where are they attached and why, forward girth grooves on horses etc. Maybe another chat about wool vs foam, latex panels etc. In my experience it appears more expensive saddles are doing away with wool and using other materials, in your opinion which lasts longer, if the foam or latex fails how does one get this replaced. Have you any experience with the WOW saddles, your opinion on these would be awesome! thanks

    • @ADayInTheLifeOfASaddleFitter
      @ADayInTheLifeOfASaddleFitter  3 роки тому +1

      oooh loads of ideas! Yes, the shape/rails idea is good, I could do that with some bare trees. Good plan! Thank you so much!

    Great video (as usual!), Poppy. A question for you - when you get one of these in for a complete re-flock, do you reattach the panel at the rear with more staples or attach some other way?

    love this video! as others have said would love to see one with the cair system. bit of an odd question- if these older Wintec saddles are more suited to a more withered horse then how come so many of them are seen on gypsy cobs? not sure if it's just my area or country-wide but it's something that's always made me wonder...

      Im english, live in oz. Thete were predominantly off track TBs used here for riding and eventinf etc, from 50s on until the warmbloods started to arrive. I think thsts why they were so narrow. they have HART now instead of cair. I will look out for the Cair one.

    I had a wintec 2000 all purpose with cair that I could have sent you to dissect. It started to fall apart and it was out of warranty and I couldn't find anyone to fix it so I tossed it in the trash. 😕
