Shinpachi then calls Gintoki about it halfway through the episode, a fact Gintoki immediately once he's on-screen complains about, saying he's the protagonist and the show is about HIM, questioning why he spent half the episode gone, it's worth noting at the beginning of the episode he's asleep and the credits roll over his sleeping figure while the letters at the side (which usually talk about the events of today's episode) try to wake him up, and also that the opening doesn't play until Gintoki calms down and reminds the producers they almost forgot about the Opening, so they play it.
