Started watching one review on another channel that was obviously a sales pitch and came here. It's a shame that golf on youtube has gone in the direction it has, truly appreciated that there's still one sincere creator
@@MarkCrossfield As I said on another forum where they were claiming how fast these new ones were, if you are seeing significant differences to last years model it's because you were not fit correctly last year, or maybe your swing changed since last year and the fitting is different now. But you could get the same numbers on last years if you want.
Thanks for your honest reviews Mark. There is no more snake oil in the world than when major golf equipment manufacturers try to show the features and benefits of their new Driver technology. Hope springs eternal for golfers that only hit the sweet spot 25% of the time, unfortunately hope is priced at $600-$900 these days.
Mark, been following you since 2013 and it’s great to see your reviews are still the classic ones I like. The only difference a decade later is your swing speed! Man great job on the increase. It’s noticeable. Great to see you still being classic in the review process 👍👍
Always love the honesty. So many of the other GT reviews try touting this line as being so much better than the last which is just not possible in such a short span of time.
I just replaced my Ai Smoke with the GT3 and it really works for me... so now i'm hitting way better, longer, straighter shots... it's 10* in H2 Weight Setting, and D2 Hosel Setting with a Tensi 1K Black 6.5 X Shaft... No matter what i tried with the smoke i couldn't get it to stay on the planet... 250+ Carry, 105-107 Club Speed, 148+ Ball Speed, and Spin around 3300... so i'm pretty happy... Great video as always...
Thank You for doing an honest review and comparison, it’s amazing how valuable a club review can be if you’re not trying to sell clubs. UA-cam is littered today with GT reviews and you’d think this driver will automatically make you a scratch golfer. Well done, been a fan for years love the channel.
Thank you! I have seen many people on golf forums posting that they are getting huge gains with the new GT over their old TSR…For those, I think there are two reasons: 1. They were never fitted for their TSR and just bought it off the shelf (or were not properly fitted); or 2. They were fitted for it, but over the course of the last 2 years, their swing has changed maybe due to lessons, injuries, etc., that has changed their required fitting…for those whose swing hasn’t changed from the last one, I doubt those people will see much of a difference…at least not one worth $600+…I’ve seen some cooky people going all in because they claim it game them 5 extra yards…unreal….
It's all somewhat of a scam. Drivers have been maxed out on ball speed for years by limited COR. MOI and spin is really the only thing you can change now, so I can see a bit more forgiveness going forward, but if you want more distance, swing faster and hit the middle of the face.
@@cheemomugdoo799 It’s careful word choice…they state “average” distance increases…which, with the more forgiving face would be true….but some infer that means hitting it longer…which, as you stated, is hard to do when the tech is maxed out on how thin they are allowed to make the face…you can get more clubhead speed with aero, but I doubt that will affect the mid/slower swing speed drivers much, if at all…they are held back by technique and strength, not by wind resistance.

Thanks for a great, honest review Mark. I did a fitting test for the GT2 alongside my current TSR2 - the most noticeable difference was the dispersion of the GT was way tighter. Will I be replacing my TSR? Nope. The GT is almost 40% more expensive than my TSR, which is exorbitant!
Replaced my 915 to GT3. I tend to replace 5 to 10 years. Saw good benefits with dispersion and better distance. Almost bought the tsar just to save money but wanted the new shiny penny. Great review Mark
Tremendous video as usual once again, you have solidified the talking point that many have already said it really appears that all manufacturers now have reached the limit of what they can do so going out and buying a new driver is not gonna give you significant gains anymore
love the review, Mark. Dont ever change. im using a 5-6 yr old Epic i pulled out of a used driver bin. i cld see it would meet my specs fairly well. i *destroy* it. cost me well under $200
I hit the GT against my Paradym with the same shaft in both heads and gained 8 yards on center hits and 15-20 yards on heel and toe strikes. The GT was much more forgiving.
Great review, I use you as the benchmark, Mark, when I watch others I always find myself saying, yeah, but the standard deviation means they aren't actually better, and I did it to the fitter at the last golf store, he didn't like it, HAHAHAHAHAHAH. Thanks Parfield!

I’m currently in the TS3 it’s about five or six years old and I’ve decided I need to move something a little bit more forgiving. I hit the GT2 on the Sim and had some good results with it (on my current shaft). I guess I should also be trying out the TS2 based on this video if there’s very little between the two….other than $300.
Love myself a new Titleist release..not that I can afford to by new. God they look good. Speaking of looking good, where are the transition glasses Mark?….because you are cool 😁🤘🏻🇦🇺
Fwiw i was able to go to the gt2 from the tsi3. Previously the 2 models didn’t work for me. The gt2 launched a little higher so we went down .75 and took 2g off the back then made up the weight w hotmelt. That combo got me 8 yards on center strikes and close to 20 on mishits. Plus all the shots on gt2 were in a oval about half the size. Launch 13 w 2300 spin avg. the range of spin and launch deviations was way less than the tsi3. I hit 100+ drivers with various heads and shafts until we settled on the gd vf 6x. Still holding on the ventus black 6x just in case.
fitted into the GT3 to replace my 917.... lower spin was main factor combined with higher launch giving me 20 yards extra carry from 1mph slower swing speed. Love the looks and the sound but not so in love with the price. I wish Titleist would set a new bar and under cut the opposition.
Mark, well done on mentioning price. I’ve watched several videos now on the GT release and no one mentioned it. This is the 4th consecutive price increase from Titleist, with no negative repercussions, why do you think Titleist gets away with it while other brands are criticised for it?
Had the GT 3 for a week now. Previous driver was 915R. Got 15 metres extra distance for sure. Certainly a different feel for me. Only hit a couple shots with the TSR and I didn't like the feel. GT is much better and more forgiving. Another winner for Titleist in my opinion.
Hi Mark, love your crazy golf mind and legitimacy in the videos. How does the manufacturer react to your reviews? As consumers we love your blunt honesty. As manufacturers I guess it doesn’t hurt them because your target segment is not the masses? Just curious..
I was fitted into TSR3 & replaced my TSI2 - which since the ‘3’ model is supposedly for better players, came as a surprise! Whilst I may give the new clubs a test should they come into our pro shop, I think the price is ridiculous - but of course there will be buyers matter what the price is! 😂
Great review, Mark....did you use the same shaft for both new & old driver heads? Would it be more consistent to use the same shaft maybe......each looked like the shaft was different. I'm still gaming my trusty TSi2 and even though it's older, it's still very forgiving and long. I have been waiting for the TSr2 to drop a bit more in price in the Used Market, maybe now is the time to pull the trigger.
I will purchase a new driver when Marks reviews a driver with the same shock/impressed reaction he had with the taylormade rbz 3 wood ( I purchased it two days later !)
Id love to know, and im not sure if Marks ever covered this. I have a driver 5 years old and it still performs fine. But is there a drop off in performance of the driver from the face hitting so many balls over time?
I was fitted to a 4 but it was very neck and neck between 3 and 4, whereas the 2 was downright bad for me. I gotta admit, I felt very little difference between them and the stats were extremely sameish. Finally the fitter asked which one I thought looked better and I opted for the smaller one. Hope it all works out well.
the tsr got forgotten because of its launch date. but it was reviewed incredibly. the tsr line up is amazing. i have no doubt the gt is equal. its titleist. their name and brand really matters to them. the products reflect that. i love my tsr2.
I have the TSR2, and purchased a premium aftermarket shaft for it, to boot. At 65 years old, I doubt any future improvements in driver technology that don't involve gunpowder will be of any benefit to me.
With playing with the GT3/GT4 (note here my clubhead speed is about 125-131mph and Ball Speed 185-195mph), I noticed getting more distance / lower spin than the the TSR3 / TSi3. The fitter even said he hadn't noticed any improvement with people under that 171mph ball speed (I think this is average tour ball speed from trackman data?) mark from previous titleist generations. Which tends to suggest these clubs are aiming for a part of the market titleist was missing previously, noted with the weight being shifted more forward.
@@MarkCrossfield Hi Mark, I assume from the position of the weight in the GT3 driver as I was using the same Ventus Black 6x in each driver, all 9 Degrees, down to 8.25°. The difference between TSi3 to TSR3 was negligible, but from TSR3 to GT3 I was dropping from between 2400-2600RPM which is the normal spin for me to 2200-2400RPM (200RPM) which resulted in a 6.5-11y distance increase overall - but carry was pretty similar (1-2y improvement). I didn't notice any increase in speed from clubhead from any of the models, likely from fitting to the same shaft (when I've played around with shafts before and heads I have always noticed far more significant changes in clubhead speed from shaft and shot stability). I would have liked to try the 8°, but not on hand. TSr2, GT2 both too spinny for me, TSR4 was worse dispersion.
@@TimBarnesGoneGolfing we don’t have to guess just use the data. It’s all there. Do you have the data to share. I am sorry I do hate these chats because it’s all myth and magic. If you have the data then we can just see. 👍👍 Not trying to be rude and thanks for responding. 👍👍
I started looking at Titleist because of the sound and the feel. I hate drivers that produce that loud high pitched metallic sound. I've always loved the more muted sound of the Titleist woods in general.
For the centre hits, I have always struggled to understand, with the max of 1.5 smash factor, how could you make it longer. Sure, maybe more forgiving hence the off centre hits could go longer.
All parts of the face are controlled. Distance is not improving. Anyone saying g they hit it longer either had a poorly fit club or they are playing the game these manufacturers seem to want to play now. So sad to see
On another review i saw with maybe not as consistent As Mark he did see better results on off center hits with the GT driver which I think is also something that they are saying has been created with a higher MOI of the GT drivers. But for on center hits or close to that spot yes there is not much change aside from a bit duller sound now
I stopped playing in '03 and just returned last year after a 20 year break, back then every year they promised 5-10yds with each new release so I figured we'd be going about 140yds further now than then? It's almost as if the marketing team's werent fully truthful... 🤣🤣
To be fair, it’s definitely like 20 yd of improvement though! I hit an old Adams driver when visiting my dad and it was constantly ballooning and I could barely get 275 yd out of it. I’m home now and back to my 300 yd drives with my TSi3
@@BigDawgCAM Its definitely more but 20yds would be a stretch, Mark did the test between 18yr difference Callaway drivers was 3 yds, obvioulsy not conclusive scientific fact but pretty eye opening, 3 yards in 18 years!!??? ua-cam.com/video/SRvxDNIFsi0/v-deo.html
Mark, I'm looking to set up a sim in my basement but I have limited space. In your sim, it doesn't look like you are too far from the screen. Can Mark or any of you out there give me recommendation on: 1) type of screen to purchase; 2) type of hitting mat to purchase and 3) distance from screen to hit shots. I am getting a GC3 to go with it. Thanks all!
Every year I assume drivers will get me an additional 1 yd through innovation. And besides, I only buy used models where someone has taken the sticker shock off
Hey Mark.....did you get a chance to hit the TSR3 vs the GT3. There is hype about moving the channel (H1&2/T1&2) to the front on the GT3 instead where it was on the back for the TSR3. Would love your thoughts if so. Thank you Mark. Agree with others that you are the place to come to for the real info. Cheers!
A general comment here: Ever notice how when the latest version of something comes out, it is not marketed as "new" or a "2024 version" but marketed as "All New" (implying that the previous version is somehow virtually obsolete). The reality: just marginal, incremental changes which may or may not be an improvement. And for golf clubs, the clubhead gets touted but there is virtually no mention of the shaft or shaft selection (where most of the real improvement comes from). Hard to believe this sells stuff, but it does......MG
@@MarkCrossfield Not sure I understand your reply but both graphite and steel shafts have improved immensely over the last 15-20 years. Lighter weight shafts have allowed for longer clubs and faster swing speeds. There was a time when lightweight steel shafts (100-110 gram) would easily bend or break but now they are significantly stronger and hence you now see more taller players on Tour using them (and winning). Need a name? Ernie Els for one.
@@MarkCrossfield Well it's possible that Titleist may be offering the same shaft selection as last year (as are other brands) but top players are always getting access to top of the line and "prototype" stuff (including shafts) and those advancements eventually work their way down to affordable equipment for the masses. For example, who would have thought that a 45-55 gram driver shaft was possible 10 years ago, but here we are......
great looking things but surely they can't get longer because they can only go as far as the rules allow plus gone are the days i'm paying that money for a driver now! PS. what shoes are they mark look wicked
It’s a catch 22 situation. Sponsor pro golfers to the tune of multi multi millions of dollars and make us punters pay for it. Near £600, not a chance, I’ll wait till the next iteration and then get one of these cheap. Great and honest review though.
In Canada Titleist has hiked their price on this new driver by $100 plus taxes over the TSR series. Drivers have maxed out in performance overall to where the average golfer will not notice these tiny differences that only a robot would really detect. Seeing that this increased price with taxes will set a Canadian back $1000 for only one club, I am sorry, but it is an absolute rip off. I hope they leave these drivers sitting on the rack and the people don’t touch them. It is just not worth it. It is just one great big con.
Mark, Regardless of "new tech/new material," how are these companies getting round the .860 COR? I can understand weighting the club for more stability on off center strikes...beyond that, It strikes me as marketing $$. 🤷
@@MarkCrossfield I figured. I have a 2020/21 Mizuno STz. Damn thing flies as far as anything else I've hit. I think most folks money would be better spent on lessons, and a proper fitting. Thank you for the reply. I've always loved the channel. 🫶
With the cost of living crisis things are still getting more and more expensive. But are they any better than last year or 2 3 or 4 years ago i dout it I've only changed my driver once in 15 years all because it was getting so old ,there wasn't much difference apart from that . price has more than doubled 😢.
TSR is just as good, if not better than GT. TS, if dialed in right, is better than TSi. TSR is where you want to be, and they should be dropping in price now with the GT release.
Mark's Honesty in club reviews cost him getting Free TM products a few years back and he went and bought the new TM drivers for his reviewers and testing for the masses, it's why I only listen & watch Mark's testing as most every tester/reviewer rave about every product they test because they are SO AFRAID of losing the FREE clubs they get !!! JR comes to mind as he's never hit a club he doesn't think is fantastic and that's why I unsubscribed and quit watching his YT channel. a few years back.
Rocking a 915D and was looking to get into the TSR line. Never came around to it and now I think I'll just go with GT. Not because they are so much better (love actual on-course data, as seen here), but they are also not worse and it will probably keep the resale value a bit longer if I wanted to change later. I'll most likely stick with it for a long time though, and that makes the small saving of a TSR "marginal over years of play". GT2 here I come. I guess.
A mate of mine is a Titleist fanboy and he went to the 'team titleist' day. He reckoned the new 3 was a lot more forgiving i.e. got more/better outcome out of off-center strikes. Not sure how many shots he hit with each, or whether they even measured strike. Their marketing is very good, as you say Mark the fanboys will buy these immediately.
All these companies want to be “groundbreaking”…how bout shock the world & put a reasonable price tag on the driver…$650 is absurd…you’d think one of these “premium” companies would step outside the box, cut the price in half & own the market. Just a thought 😂

Hope it all works out well.
the tsr got forgotten because of its launch date. but it was reviewed incredibly. the tsr line up is amazing. i have no doubt the gt is equal. its titleist. their name and brand really matters to them. the products reflect that. i love my tsr2.
good honest review!!
I have the TSR2, and purchased a premium aftermarket shaft for it, to boot. At 65 years old, I doubt any future improvements in driver technology that don't involve gunpowder will be of any benefit to me.
I wasn’t planning on getting a new driver, but unfortunately the face on my 5 year old TS3 cracked. The GT2 looks clean.
Great review. Did you notice the new models launching any higher than the TSR?
❤ hi mark long time fan it’s been a while just checking on u hope all is well miss watching u and lucky golf ⛳️
You can always trust Mark to conclude that there is little or no improvement with the new release compared to the existing models. 😀 Thanks Mark
Mark did you different shafts in the driver test? looks like it
With playing with the GT3/GT4 (note here my clubhead speed is about 125-131mph and Ball Speed 185-195mph), I noticed getting more distance / lower spin than the the TSR3 / TSi3.
How much more speed and where was the lower spin coming from?
Not trying to be rude and thanks for responding. 👍👍
I started looking at Titleist because of the sound and the feel. I hate drivers that produce that loud high pitched metallic sound. I've always loved the more muted sound of the Titleist woods in general.
Wasn’t this material also in the tsr3, but in a limited area?
Now that’s a good question
Love the honesty 🙏🙏🙏
Wondering whether the GT models have improved distance on off center hits. TSR prices look great now.
Thank you for the review. Worth looking at if currently gaming a TS3?
I wish custom fitting for prev generation drivers was more widespread.
I’d like this video done with the GT vs 910 for example
But for on center hits or close to that spot yes there is not much change aside from a bit duller sound now
This is simply not true. This is the myth they are pushing. Please show me the video with the data on it and we can talk through in more detail.
Mark - where can you buy the same type of Original Penguin Polo's that you wear or are yours Tour spec etc?
I have 2016 version, looking for upgrade and after this review I’m still not convinced to switch. Will be really any benefit over my 917D2 ?
Thanks Mark
Mark, I'm looking to set up a sim in my basement but I have limited space. In your sim, it doesn't look like you are too far from the screen. Can Mark or any of you out there give me recommendation on: 1) type of screen to purchase; 2) type of hitting mat to purchase and 3) distance from screen to hit shots. I am getting a GC3 to go with it. Thanks all!
Can you compare the fairway woods to the Ti and TsR fairway woods as well
Every year I assume drivers will get me an additional 1 yd through innovation. And besides, I only buy used models where someone has taken the sticker shock off
First thing i noticed is he didnt mention using an up up charged shaft, which puts this driver at 1000 dollars unbelievable 3:20
Thanks for the review. If you’re going to “drive. GT2, GT3, or GT4, it should be a Porsche! LOL! Have a nice weekend.
I'm sticking with my TSR2
tSR looks better IMO. I’ll keep mine as well.
Cheers!
Omg
@@edanzore ?
A general comment here: Ever notice how when the latest version of something comes out, it is not marketed as "new" or a "2024 version" but marketed as "All New" (implying that the previous version is somehow virtually obsolete). The reality: just marginal, incremental changes which may or may not be an improvement. And for golf clubs, the clubhead gets touted but there is virtually no mention of the shaft or shaft selection (where most of the real improvement comes from). Hard to believe this sells stuff, but it does......MG
Shaft improvements?
@@MarkCrossfield Not sure I understand your reply but both graphite and steel shafts have improved immensely over the last 15-20 years. Lighter weight shafts have allowed for longer clubs and faster swing speeds. There was a time when lightweight steel shafts (100-110 gram) would easily bend or break but now they are significantly stronger and hence you now see more taller players on Tour using them (and winning). Need a name? Ernie Els for one.
@@montegustafson5142 I thought you were talking from last year. 👌
I've noticed that any reviewer who is a retailer or sponsored by the brand will magically gain 15 yards. Any unbiased reviewer finds no difference.
Haha yep
I tried the GT and gained 1-2 mph ball speed maybe but I noticed miss hits were more straight.
@@bm5192 what does more straight mean?
@@MarkCrossfield my miss hits stayed more in play vs my current cobra LTDx driver.
@@bm5192 this confuses me. You mean on the course or in fit?
great looking things but surely they can't get longer because they can only go as far as the rules allow plus gone are the days i'm paying that money for a driver now! PS. what shoes are they mark look wicked
Honestly think TS is the maxed out version of golf technology unless the usga gives a leeway.
Mark the original and still the best 🔥
Mark,
Regardless of "new tech/new material," how are these companies getting round the .860 COR? I can understand weighting the club for more stability on off center strikes...beyond that, It strikes me as marketing $$.
🤷
They are not.
@@MarkCrossfield I figured. I have a 2020/21 Mizuno STz. Damn thing flies as far as anything else I've hit. I think most folks money would be better spent on lessons, and a proper fitting. Thank you for the reply. I've always loved the channel.

With the cost of living crisis things are still getting more and more expensive. But are they any better than last year or 2 3 or 4 years ago i dout it I've only changed my driver once in 15 years all because it was getting so old ,there wasn't much difference apart from that . price has more than doubled 😢.
So i was just at a golf store in California, USA
Tsr is 449.00 us dollars.the new one 8s 649.00 outside of ego, mwhy ny new?
COR has been maxed out for a decade drivers are not longer only maybe .””1% in forgiveness or lower spin .
TSR is just as good, if not better than GT. TS, if dialed in right, is better than TSi. TSR is where you want to be, and they should be dropping in price now with the GT release.
Gt2 or 3 vs qi10?
Lovely. Waitin on the tsr to drop in price n il bag it!!
I guess.
Some serious marketing jargon & spin going into this one, and yet the results are the same. Surprise! ;)
I still game a G400 max and G400lst
Tsi3 is best driver so far.
