    Suggestion: Whenever you refer to a hardware item's link, it would be better to use the direct link to that item rather than sending us to your store. It would make it much faster for us to find the item and more likely we buy it so that you would get credit for it. I tried to find split rivets in your store but there was nothing labeled split rivet so I did know not know what rivet to pick.

      Maybe I will do better in the future. Funny though. Many other people had no trouble finding them.

    Your comment about not using self-tapping screws everywhere was very important. How are we to know where self-tapping screws should or should not need used since we cannot see where metal is located under the skin of the RV?

    • @hillbillyrv

    They never seem to install these awnings with enough slope. When I installed mine, I mounted the brackets as you described and that gives it a lot more slope. My awning never held water.

    • @hillbillyrv
      @hillbillyrv  Рік тому

      The slide topper manufactures have specs on the amount of slope to install them at. It ain't much. I think they want them to hold water.

    What type of screw should be used in a skylight or vent fan on the roof?

    Great videos, I was doing this on my Lippert Solera 12 foot slide topper and the pin I was using came out and the tension was lost on one side. How many turns of preload should I put back? I also used the supplied screws in the install of the main brackets should I switch them out?

    • @rickausterschmidt8362

      Can you tell me how many turns you would do?

    • @hillbillyrv
      @hillbillyrv  2 роки тому

      As long as the screws bit into the wall you are fine, but I would take a couple out of each end and replace them with split rivets. I have some in the amazon store. www.amazon.com/shop/hillbillyrv

    • @hillbillyrv
      @hillbillyrv  2 роки тому

    I used a digital stud finder to find the aluminum frame in the walls of my camper. Not sure it would work from the outside of that camper. Would be good to know though.
