Hi Kevin, your Mituo Diamond Panda is a Polychilos type phal (aka Summer Blooming type), I have a few of these types too, and I wanted to let you know that these are sequential bloomers and you don't have to cut the spikes until they turn brown, they will continue to give you bloom after bloom as long as the spike is green, awesome right.
Last year I purchased an orchid, removed the many rotten roots, planted it in Leca and set it up in the bathroom with a grow light. It has done very well since, growing new roots, leaves and flowering. Since the bathroom is humid I only have to water it every 4-6 weeks.
Omg LOVE LOVE LOVED this video! I always ask myself “why don’t you have more orchids! “I absolutely love flowers and I’m a plant collector so why don’t I have more than the two I have after seeing this that’s it… I’m buying any Phal I see from now on after seeing all of your beautiful orchids ❤❤❤
Hi Kevin! Thank you for encourage the importance of sticking to a substrate. I have all my Hoyas in Pon and Leca, tried to give them the best all around care and they are doing great! Did you change the Nutrien solution away from Rapid start, Hydroguard to great White MYCO just for the orchids or are you using this for your Hoyas as well?? Thank you, love your orchids, they are beautiful!
That is so true about the type of media as you said it is most important to know their requirements to be able to grow them successfully in any medium. What type of water do use for orchids? I suggest you try phalaenopsis Schleriana for her beautiful blooms and fragrance.
OMG, THANK YOU for this update, I grow some of mine in Pon and some in the regular mix of bark, charcoal, perlite and grow stones. So far, I have had good results with the ones in Pon. Yours are so beautiful!!
Love your videos. I have a couple of Phalaenopsis and they have been great. I do not intend to put them in semi-hydro because I am too nervous 😬. Yours are gorgeous by the way😊 I watched your latest videos on Hoyas but I can’t remember what you said about nutrient solutions. So, do you use the new solution for Hoyas in PON as well? Q 2 - 3 weeks
How do you keep them stable in leca?? Mine keeps wobbling. She is coming back with new roots from almost being completely gone. She is 2 years old now. Your orchids are to die for!! I'm always tempted to buy more but I stop myself. I already killed a mini phal and I need to get another cause it was from my grandbaby and I'm broken hearted.
Ohhhhh Kevin are you venturing into orchid world? 👀👀👀👀 I have to warn you it's a slippery slope 😂😂😂 it's as addictive as collecting aroids and hoyas 😂😂
Just be careful long term with orchids in lecca, I've been doing it for 6+ years and find after a couple of years you need to unpot them and remove all dead roots, as well as ensure you adjust the PH....... they grow amazing for a time then they tank out of no where if you don't.... this is all my experience of lecca with phals, oncidiums, sarcochilus and more.
Oh my gosh Kevin , you have inspired me to put my orchids in leca instead of the garbage can ! You are so smart and cute!
PLEASE GET YOU A PHALAENOPSIS BRONZE MAIDEN. I got one for my bday and I'm still speechless 💚💚💚💚💚
THANK GOD KEVIN BECAUSE IM LOST WITH THIS GENUS

Your orchids are beautiful & crew nicely in leca! Thanks for sharing Kevin!
Thank you for your video! ❤
Great video! Thank you! I have a collection of mini phals (along with one standard size), and they're all growing in leca and self watering.

What are grow stones? I'm headed to the Google 🤓
Great video Kevin! I don't know why my semi hydro mix starts to smell skunky after only about 7-10 days 🤮 any ideas?
Grow stones are commonly known as pumice stones, which provide lots of aeration to the roots.
Absolutely beautiful!!! How often do you water? I leave in very dry Las Vegas climate.

Thanks! I dilute it further 1:1. I part nutrient solution, 1 part water for plants in pon
Hi Kevin, what happened to your paphiopedilums? I must have missed an update.
🎉🎉
