You're back, the Rlc. King of Taiwan is beautiful. That Vanda Pachara Delight is worth waiting for it to flower because it has large deep blue flowers almost unreal. Btw you look great with a beard.
Thank you for sharing this, its invaluable to me as i tried growing some phals in glass, however it is only one that has done extremely well. I used bark, so I'll try using moss and see what happens. Im shopping for some more plants at a show at the end of the month so its another opportunity to tey something new. Thanks again, you have gained a subscriber 😊
Thank you for subscribing! We all are experimenters / inventors by heart trying new and effective ways of growing orchids. I will post more information on grow lights, how to water plants in vases like these, and perhaps transplanting / dividing them.
I really enjoyed this video. I am trying this technique with about 20 different orchids...mostly phalaenopsis but a few cattleya as well. Could you post a demonstration on how you water the plants in glass?
First, I should post a video how to change the moss. But for an instant answer, I do change the moss every two years. Since I water the plant carefully by spraying the top part of the medium, the rest of the water eventually wicks down the pot and does not form pooling water. In this way, the moss stays viable for two years. I hope I answered your question.
Is it possible to grow them without grow light? If yes, where shall I keep them in balcony? Am from India. And the climate here is very hot and humid throughout the year except 2/3 months. How do you water them? Do you spray them thoroughly? Please share your grow space too .
Grow lights are critical for indoor gardening. Without them and in a tropical area, growing them outside in a sheltered area, plus changing your media from moss to bark or charcoal could be be way to go.
I use a pressurized sprayer and point the spray tip on the bases of the pseudobulbs for 10-15 seconds (for bigger vases). I do not pour water on them, nor wet the leaves and sheaths, just the root. I do spraye them sometimes during the day and even at night (given that roots / potting medium are the only parts being wet.)
The water is sprayed, not poured. If you count 10 seconds while spraying the top of the media, you can now stop and let the water work its way through osmosis. Therefore no water will pool, and there is no need to drain, plus it will save the moss from breaking down for two years.
Hi what beautiful results! Do you grow your cattleyas under grow light? If yes what kind of grow ligth you use how many lux for how many hours? I'll try to cultivate some plants in this way! Thank a lot!
I’ve grown Cattleya in glass containers, they love ❤ it! 😊
Wow! Thank you for sharing your experience. What Cattleya do you have?
Wow I think I will try this but could you please show us how you water them .thanks for sharing 😊

Thank you very much! I have seen that other video of the V. Pachara Delight! What an attractive electric blue colour!
Thanks for sharing, this is amazing! I grow some Vandas in glass vases without moss but I never thought to grow Cattleya like this
I see my Cattleyas happier in glass vases! You are welcome, please let me know how Vandas grow in these as I am a newbie on Vandas.
Wow … being a newbie I will try this technique. Thanks for sharing.
Isn't growing orchids in glass vases neat? You will not need coasters or catch basins anymore LOL!

I should post a demo on how to water the plants at one point. I will do it.
Nice plants! A peaceful, calm presentation.
I tried my best to explain things...thank you for your observation!
Beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
Thank you!
Wow! I must try this.
Doing a little bit of experimentation is so rewarding!
How do you deal with algae? Do you change the moss?

How do you water and drain the water from the glass every time you water

I think I have to post another video on how to setup and what type of lights and equipment I use. Thanks for the feedback!
