I'm an FIT graduate. I'm very happy with the education that I received there. I still go back for continuing education classes. A lot of the same professors that teach at Parsons also teach at FIT. Among all the schools listed in your video, it's the best value for your money.
@@sashasalon1707 My apologies for the late reply. Cornell is a great school, but I would recommend going to a school that specializes in fashion. Those schools would offer the connections, facilities, professors, and other resources that are specially focused on the industry.
@@vlads.4459 but the most important thing for me is scholarship and specialist schools are not offering scholarship which can cover the tution cost...........I still applied to prett.......I will try to find some scholarship if possible
@@sashasalon1707 Are you an international student? I'm not sure how to go about getting financial aid as an international student. Definitely apply where you're interested and compare all financial aid offerings.
Cool video. I'd probably take Drexel and Kent off as there are better schools (no shade to those who go there). RISD, MassArt, Otis, Pratt are decent schools.
This video was wonderful! However I would not recommend Kent State for Fashion! I am currently in the program and it has made my life utterly miserable. Yet I feel like I can’t go anywhere else. The fashion school in particular is highly discriminatory towards people with disabilities. Our elevator in Rockwell hall has not been fixed for years and we cannot host a fashion show there for people with different abilities nor can any disabled student such as myself use the elevator when needed to get to classes. They also deny accommodations for every class stating it “infringes on the essential nature of the course.” And in all my years I have not been given any accommodations for any classes when they should’ve applied. The professors gossip with each other about other students like a bunch of high schoolers and tarnish the reputations of the students. Some of the students you can tell have a hard home life or are going through something and the teachers ignore it and chalk it up to them being “lazy” this was especially bad my freshman year. My reputation alone has been tarnished because I am fighting for me and other students disability rights and an investigation is being conducted on them for potential violation of ADA law. Let’s just say the school doesn’t like being under the scrutiny of the government. Every single internship that is offered through them is unpaid as well, (you’re paid through “experience”) if you want one paid you have to look yourself. They expect you to pay $4,000+ to go on a trip to New York, find your own apartment that costs 2k a month in a high crime area, and be able to pay for that with your unpaid internship. I remember stories from seniors not being able to afford food and eating almonds from their workplace as their “meals.” One of the internship advisors keeps recommending an internship for a company that has been known to abuse and take advantage of the students, she only recommends it because she is friends with the owner. I have spoken on the phone with that lady and had an argument with her because she wouldn’t let me take an internship at Ralph Lauren and said she wanted me sewing not learning the business.(I’m just as confused as you) She has a massive stick up her ass and is worried about me having a job when she went to Parsons for fashion design and is stuck at a desk job. Mind you I have maintained a 3.5 GPA despite all the setbacks I’ve been through and have never failed out of a class, I also have a fantastic retail job right now so nothing to worry about. I have so many more horrible stories and I could go on for days. The education isn’t even good at all for how much money you have to put into it. If you can afford something else I beg of you, save yourself the hours of crying and stress and get yourself a degree at a place that’s worth it. You’ll find a few gems of professors and may make nice friends(I love the people in my classes) but again, it’s not worth it and you’re gonna graduate not feeling prepared for the industry and the road to even graduate is too rough to be worth it.
Hey!!! So glad you enjoyed this video and thanks so much for this insight, I haven’t visited Kent myself from my research it’s a good uni but always good to have an insider tell us more about the colleges, if your confidence has been knocked please try and not let it get to you, you are amazing if your not happy begin to look at other universities close by or in another state, apply and move. I was lucky with my college as I really enjoyed it however I do know people who didn’t enjoy it as much as me, good luck and keep your head high xxx
@@SoCalledFashion Thank you for the kind words! :) Also you're right not everyone's experience is the same! Some people may attend school there and have no issues. Not all of the Kent programs are like that either. The Fashion School is almost a separate entity. I've had like 3 really sweet professors too but they're hard to find and thankfully my one studio professor I have right now is decent. It's mostly the higher up faculty that are especially hard to deal with. I'm specifically a design student and I've heard more horror stories from other design students than bad stories from Merchandising students. Merchandising isn't as intensive of a program either and I wish I started with that as my major. I just wanted to share my thoughts and let people know that things could be difficult if you're in a situation like me(like having a disability), so just be cautious when picking schools.
I went to Pratt Institute, in those years FIT was only A two year school . Although it was a long time ago, it was considered one of the best fashion schools.
Hey emma! Thanks for commenting! I’m a fashion designer, I design clothing for the high street and have in the past worked by designing high end garments too!
2:29 Hey !!Im an indian I graduated as a fashion designer this year i have pursued fashion designing with a 2 yr professional diploma degree.I wanted to do a fashion course in the USA for one year be it management or social media communication and marketing. Can you please help me with this
How much does it cost to go to the school I'm asking because I have someone from Nigeria that wants to come down here to the US but she was trying to come down here to get in school for fashion how do she take the steps to signing up for the school and do y'all provide visa for her to come to the u.s. for school
I don’t know too much about Cornell, I’ll have to look into it for you, I know it’s an Ivy League school and cost about 40k per year for the 4 year course, it has some great recommendations so it is probably a really good uni
I will have to do more research but on first look tuition is around 33k a year so on the higher side and is a for profit university so would probably have a good program. I would suggest visiting it and asking as many questions as you can 👍
Hey thanks for the comment 👍👍👍 I think they have an art institute in Houston that offers fashion classes, but if you Google fashion school Houston it should come up
hey can u help me out!! am kind of in a mess right now about which course should i choose in fashion since ive done my bachelors in computer science in india. now that i wanna pursue masters course in fashion in usa.. am really confused abt which course should i choose and which university.. please replyy!!
Hi there, I want to be a fashion designer. I curently completed my 4th year bachelor in management. Is it posible to apply fashion design course. If is it posible then can i get job or PR after graduation.
Hey, with a degree you could start to apply for entry level designs positions, but it would be better to have some experience in fashion first. If you want to move on to study fashion after your bachelors, then do it. It will help to set you in in the position you want to apply for.
hiii, would you like to share your thoughts about the Kent State University? Do you think that is a good place to go to study about fashion management?
@@SoCalledFashion thank you for ur response! And I just saw the comment form Hailey 🤣. I guess the best way to find out if it is good for me or not is to check out by myself🤣🤣but still thank you for your response and your video!

Hi, I’m wondering, do I need to go to an academy for portfolio? How can I prepare for fashion design school as highschool student?
No you can set up a portfolio on your own, but a degree would help you to get into interviews
what big names studied at kent state? i never would have associated kent state with fashion
