The fertilizer you were using won't do much for correcting any deficiencies. 0-0-1 is very little potassium. Nitrogen helps the foliage grow, while phosphorus helps root development. Potassium is good for general plant hardiness however it won't do much for growth. If you do fishless cycling again you may want to try a half or quarter dose of 20-20-20 water soluble fertilizer with micronutrients.
Hm, think about it this way. During the spring to summer the sun is putting out light in the blue spectrum to about 6500K Color Temp. In the autumn to winter time the sun is putting out light more in the red spectrum to about 2000/2700K Color Temp. In the Spring/Summer, plants that are harvested in autumn/fall, are in their vegitative state and their biological clock is based on the color temp of the light and grow well with blue spectrum lights like Mercury Vapor or Metal Highlide.
what size tank do you have and what size pump? how many gallons per hour. I noticed you hooked up pvc piping and not plastic tubing. I have a 35 gallon with 2 grow beds and want to hook up the pvc piping into it.
@MrMadmax478 Yeah I'm not impressed either... obvious deficiencies in the plants but then again i have nothing else feeding the plants as I am doing fishless cycling. I expect that once the fish are pooping that the plants will get heathy. Moral of the story is just stick with lettuce during your cycling stage.
Your plants will also not be healthy if they are trying to grow under an HPS when their genegics are based on color temperatures for growing/flowering. You said you have tomatoes growing, tomatoes are not photophase fruiters. Tomatoes bloom and fruit with maturity and if you keep them in the perfect environment will continue to fruit till the plant dies. There are a few plants like that. Some dont have color issues, but photoperiod issues. Indoor/controled environment growing is not easy. =)
If you only grow with HPS bulbs your going to get skinny and linky plants. You need either a metal halide or a blue spectrum LED grow light if you want some decent vegetative growth. It's especially important in its early stages of development. You will never achieve ideal growth starting from seedling while exclusively using a HPS bulb.
I'm looking forward to more updates!
I use a loop siphon that is located at the back of my growbed. The tank is 26 gallons and I use an EcoPlus 390 pump
Also would like to mention that nutrients in the water will affect pH readings. You should use a digital pH meter to ensure accurate readings.

That will be my next trial but right now I am growing tomatoes which fruit well under HPS

where is your water draining back into? looks like the stand pipe is above the hydroten.

@SleestaksRule How is it going?
where's the bell syphon?
